The Bloomsbury Group gathered in the sublime gardens of Villa Cimbrone; Richard Wagner, Greta Garbo, and Gore Vidal also favored this hilltop retreat. For nearly as long, couples have been flocking here to tie the knot. Brides abound, posing at the duomo, white taffeta rustling in the Amalfitano breeze. Total Hair Design is where every woman—bride or not—goes for a sophisticated style or highlights courtesy of Gerardo. To maintain said highlights he favors Z.One Concept’s Milkshake Color Maintainer shampoo. Offered in the spa of the stunning hotel, perched on a promontory overlooking Positano, the treatment aims to reboot sun-parched skin. Hot and cold water are alternately applied to reduce swelling, followed by a “butterfly” lymphatic drainage massage, so you feel fully restored just in time for cocktail hour. After Sunset Facial, $220, ilsanpietro.it L O C A L E AU X Eau d’Italie, a collection of fragrances and body care products, may take its name from the entire peninsula, but its birthplace is Positano. The company—run by Marina Sersale and her husband Sebastián Alvarez Murena— created its first scent for the 50th anniversary of Le Sirenuse hotel, which is owned by Sersale’s family, and soon it was making new ones every year (with names like Paestum Rose and Magnolia Romana). The latest,Graine de Joie, is meant to evoke a feeling of love, with notes of pomegranate, freesia, and musk. $160, available in 3 973-396-2654; haircuts from $34, totalhairdesign.com 5 T H E B O DY S TA I R M A S T E R The Amalfi Coast is made up of pastel-colored houses carved out of steep cliffs, the towns teetering over the sparkling Tyrrhenian Sea below. Navigating the area on foot, you’re almost always walking at an incline. Le Sirenuse has taken advantage of this verticality to offer guests the “ultimate workout”: a guided tour up a winding wood and stone staircase of 1,700 steps that carries you from Positano to the tiny town of Nocelle. At the top, in addition to a triumphant endorphin rush, you are rewarded with an unforgettable view of the coast. There is an Essential UV cream for protection—especially essential on the Amalfi Coast—and an Aurealux Cream, meant to hydrate the skin and enhance its natural radiance with a combination of sericin (a protein created by silkworms), Italian olive oil, and vitamin B3. It promises to have you glowing before you’ve even stepped off the boat. The Amalfi Gold (a.k.a. the Lemon Massage) is a light-pressure, fullbody treatment using a special lotion made with oil extracted from lemons grown on-site. The fruits—big, curvy beauties—are also sliced and placed on the chakras. The result: citrusinduced euphoria, best followed with a glass of limoncello, the locally favored digestivo. Amalfi 1
