INDUSTRY DIALOGUES
- The Industry Dialogue is spearheaded by the Local
Executive Department, through the Technical Education,
Skills Development and Employment Committee
(TESDEC);
- The Industry Dialogue is a series of roundtable
discussions between the City Government and Local
Industries, as stakeholders, providing a venue for
discourse on existing concerns, labor market demands,
solutions and potential partnerships between the public
and private sectors.

INDUSTRY SURVEY
- An Industry Survey was conducted through the
collaborative effort of the City Government, the DepEd
Division Office, and Xavier University (Academe), with
the support of Synergeia Foundation, Inc. and the
League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP);
- The survey was designed as an industry mapping and
analysis tool - supplying relevant data in relation to
industry skills and employment market and demand,
and guiding in the selection of course offerings based on
industry needs and potential employability.

- The Senior High School – Technical Working Group (SHSTWG) was established to look into the preparations and
ensure the smooth implementation and transition of the
City to the Senior High School Program;
- The Technical Working Groups sought, and continues to (1.)
engage the active support and participation of the Local
Education Stakeholders; and (2.) enhance and maximize
resource capacity through Public-Private collaboration.

The City Government of Cagayan de Oro, in partnership with the
League of Cities of the Philippines through the City LEADERS
Project, spearheaded the Uswag Kagay-anon: Yes to Senior High
School .

YES TO SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL!
 The City of Cagayan de Oro as chosen to be one of the pilot cities
for the implementation of Senior High School, hosted the Senior
High School Summit last April 21, 2015.
 The City Government, with the leadership Mayor Oscar Moreno
in partnership with the League of Cities of the Philippines, made
this step possible as one of the preparations for the
implementation of the Senior High School in the city.
 The summit was a gathering to formalize the partnership among
stakeholders and establishments who support the program.

The event was graced by no
less than the Secretary of the
Department of Education,
Hon. Brother Armin A. Luistro
FSC, together with various city
mayors from across the
country, and representatives
from the League of Cities of
the Philippines.
A first of its kind Summit, Uswag Kagay-anon was geared
towards:
 Demonstrating that Cagayan de Oro
City is gearing up to implement the
Senior High School program;
 Establishing strong partnership with
the National Government, various
industries and other education
stakeholders,
for
the
smooth
implementation of the Senior High
School in 2016; and
 Formalizing the partnership with the
education stakeholders, through the
signing of support for the Senior High
School.
Present were the representatives from the different establishments
and industries who would want to invest what they have for the
senior high school. Also present were participants and delegates
who were very eager for the summit were the Department of
Education officials and public servants, CHEd representative, city
councilors, barangay captains and councilors, teachers, students,
media, and other members of the civil society
COMMITMENT SIGNING
The City of Cagayan de Oro, through the laudable efforts of Mayor
Moreno, promised to build more schools by his administration
through the Local School Board in order to answer the 500-classroom
shortage which was not prioritized over the past years. Mayor
Moreno shows his support for education by giving his best efforts in
the projects related to education which he implemented in his
administration. With the support from the stakeholders and the
efforts of our government for this program, the dream of a brighter
future will soon be achieved.
