visitors` center - Christmas Lights on the Mesa Arizona Temple
You are always welcome! The Visitors’ Center and grounds welcome over one million guests every year. These include tens of thousands Mesa Arizona Temple Visitors’ Center who come to view the spectacular Christmas lights display and the world’s largest outdoor Easter pageant. Entering the Visitors’ Center one is drawn to the magnificent 13-foot tall marble likeness of the Famed Easter Pageant famed Thorvaldsen Christus. Numerous exhibits and state-of-the-art displays explain beliefs of the Church and focus on our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The history and purpose of temples (including interior images), the eternal nature of families and the origin of the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ are also 750,000 Christmas Lights described. Three theaters screen a variety of informative films and an interactive diorama of ancient Jerusalem features over 4000 miniature structures. Adjacent to the grounds–and Family History Center open to anyone curious about their ancestors–is the largest of over 4500 genealogy centers world-wide tied to the global resources of the renowned LDS Church Family History Library in Salt Lake City. We welcome you and thank you for your interest. Dedicated in 1927, the historic Mesa Arizona Temple was one of the first temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints constructed outside of Utah. In certain light its unusual eggshell terra cotta tile exterior radiates an almost iridescent glow. The classic architecture is said to model ancient temples and is one of only three Latter-day Saint temples of similar design. A series of intricately carved friezes depict the gathering of Israel out of the four corners of the earth. While the grounds and gardens are open to all, temple entry is reserved to Church faithful who take part in sacred ordinances that link precious family relationships throughout eternity. It is not at all uncommon to see newly married couples blissfully posing for photographs on the Temple grounds. We look forward to your visit.
