Sogn og Fjordane – a county rich in natural, human and cultural resources. From Europe to Sogn og Fjordane Population: 107 000 inhabitants – constituting 2,4% of the population of Norway. The school - year of 2004-2005: 15 upper secondary schools 4267 students - 3873 with priorites. 331 students signed apprenticeship contracts 464 students will take apprenticeship examinations. 277 students are subject to special education. 34 students applied for adjusted on-the-job training. 344 applied for adult education 277 started on educational programs specially adjusted to adults. 767 external candidates registered for public examination – a total of 1212 exams Culture - 34,1 mill.kr Support and further development of more than 30 cultural projects 16,0 mill. kr. distributed to sport grounds and recreation areas. 3,6 mil.kr. granted the museums in the county. The program ” The Cultural School Bag”has given 15 500 pupils in all the municipalities of the county the opportunity to experience a wide range of professional cultural performances and activities. 5,7 mill. kr. in grants to the volunteer organisations The Folk- music festival in Førde and Country- music festival in Gloppen are important events Young People Traffic safety programs initiated by the County Municipality in addition to local programs at most schools The prevention of alcohol and drug abuse - an area of special commitment i all schools. The County Council for Young People - established to take care of young people’s interests and promote participation and interest in public affairs Municipal Board for Young People - established in all local municipalities in the county. Young People`s Cultural Performance - 500 young people contributed to the final performance ”Safely home for 50 kroner”, and other local arrangements of safe transportation for young people are well established ”The teenager card” now extended to include 15-year- olds
