I hope that everyone had as much fun as the Grand High Priestess, Lady P.C. Mabray, had at her Official Visit of our
court on January 4th. The meeting went extremely well and I was filled with pride on how wonderful everyone was with
their parts and duties. I believe we made quite an impression on the Grand High. It was so nice that we had so many
ladies drive up from Tucson for our visit. We had several of our ladies return the favor and drive down for Tucson’s Visitation on January 6th. Lady Vickie Forbes, Oasis High Priestess did a wonderful job and it was great to see the new
location they have set up at the Scottish Rite Cathedral for their meetings.
The Mardi Gras Bingo night on January 15th was a wonderful success! The different Mardi Gras attires of the evening made it so much more fun. I do believe that everyone enjoyed the parade and didn’t our Potentate Phil Houghton
make a wonderful King of the Mardi Gras?? The food that was provided by all the ladies of the court made a great hit
and I want to thank all those ladies that spent their time to make and serve the food. What would we do without your
terrific cooking?? I think that we all had fun with the Bingo Swap. I know quite a few people that had to keep going up
and getting new items due to choosing the more sought after items the first few times. There were several bidding wars
when it came to the auction and it always seemed to be some of the same people starting the wars. That was great for
the court as it made the auction a wonderful money maker for the night. Thank you to everyone that worked, helped out,
supported the evening with donations or time decorating or just came and had fun with us. I truly hope you had as much
fun as I did.
By the way, please be on the lookout for my stuffed elephant. He went off on safari after the Mardi Gras. Hope he
did not travel down to New Orleans for more beads. He is big enough that someone should be able to see him around
town. Please tell him to have fun and that I miss him and hope he comes home soon.
My love and prayers go out to all who have been sick and to the families of those who have lost loved ones.

Wow, it’s been busy since I last wrote a Cactus Chatter article. We all had lots of wonderful Christmas gatherings
to attend. Our Mardi Gras fundraiser in January was a great good time and earned a tidy little sum for our Court! Now
we’re back hard at it -- just remember to keep after our new members to attend Court and to join a Unit or maybe more.
We need our newbies and we want them to enjoy their LOS experience.
I wanted to use this article to explain a little about our installation on March 26, 2010! That’s a Friday night and the
installation will begin at 5:00 pm -- but we’ll need to be there at 5 pm so we can get pictures out of the way. You’ll probably get hungry before we have the reception following the installation so you should plan accordingly and bring snack if
you’ll need one.
The big thing I want to tell you is that we will NOT be having the gift table at this year’s installation. With the economy in the state it is, it seems silly to give each other gifts we could probably live without. Please do donate to the sewing chairman in lieu of gifts and give her the card you would have given to everyone (save $$ everywhere so we can
support the kids). She will read your names at the installation and we will also publish them in the Chatter the month
following. And if you still feel that you want to give something to someone, please do it privately.
We already announced that one of our fund raisers for next year will be a cookbook -- please start turning in your
favorite recipes to Mary Hammer Ways and Means Chairman, Karen MacDougall, Pat Stanton, or me. And ask all of
your friends and family to donate some of their faves, too. Let’s make this great cookbook and make lots of revenue for
our Court.
We’ll be talking to you about Court attire in the next little bit. To make it less expensive for all, we decided that we’ll
wear a long black skirt, style optional at long as it’s to the floor, plain black top (no fancy stuff on the top and no buttons
on the front) and preferably with long or ¾ length sleeves -- a tee shirt is fine as long as it meets the criteria. We will
have a unique “drape” for you to wear over it that should cost under $25.
Stay well, stay safe, stay happy, stay busy and keep on working for the Kids!
Bonnie Lassie Love to all of you!

Happy New Year to all of you and a great year for LOS and the children!
The Patrol had a successful O.V. with nearly all of the Court Officers in attendance, thank you Ladies! We also have an
other new member, Lady Karen Crocker-MacDougall joined us.
We plan to practice a lot, so that we can give a good performance for our High Priestess at Grand Council. Our next
meeting is Tuesday February 9, 2010 with practice before the meeting !
Good Thoughts and Well Wishes to all who need cheering up !
Where has the time flown? We have only 2 more meetings in our court year! This is a friendly reminder regarding
any donation you may have been planning for this year; and may not have had the time to write that check. We would so
appreciate a donation - any
amount - for the children’s tennis shoes (Kicks for Kids Project) OR any donation. We are approximately at 80% of
our tennis shoe goal. Our Ladies have been so generous! Other needs for February: toothpaste & brushes, socks (all
sizes), sweat tops & bottoms, gym bags, outer shorts (girl or boy), combs & brushes etc.
Lady Pat Zimmerman & Donna Yorston are completing their projects for the children. To date, we have sent donations to 5 separate Shriners Hospitals. Thank you to all for your time & support.

Happy New Year! The holiday season sure came and went quickly this year. On Saturday February 6th at 2 PM we
have our "Texas" Membership Tea. It appears we will again have several new candidates attending. Please mark your
calendars and attend to make these lovely ladies feel welcome. Our last Tea you really did a fantastic job with the candidates and we need you again.
The "Texas" theme of the Tea is in honor of our Grand High Priestess, Lady Patricia "PC" Mabray. The attire is
Western or slacks with fun, fellowship, facts and food. We have a few things up our sleeves that you will not want to
miss. That is a promise!!!!!
Ladies, thank you so much for the help and support you have given me this past year. I couldn't do the job without
all of you. Please come and be a part of the "Texas" Membership Tea and show the candidates just how wonderful the
LOS Ladies really are. Love to you all!
