A Message from Mrs. Bennett, Principal
Dear Parents, Grandparents and Caregivers,
Happy Catholic Schools Week! We hope you enjoyed your treat at arrival on Monday! Thank you for your time,
dedication, care, and support of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School. Your commitment to giving your children
the best in faith and education is apparent in the sacrifices made to have your youngsters in our Catholic school. We
maintain those high expectations with our concentration on faith, knowledge, and service. Thank you for your generosity yesterday as we collected 1,625 canned goods for Hope Southern Indiana to feed those in need. Our Lady rocks
when it comes to taking care of our community. Thank you! We have many special events happening the remainder of
this week and welcome you to join us as we say thank you to our teachers and staff members tomorrow. Then, the Gr. 8
vs. Faculty Volleyball Game is on Friday as we support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with $1 or more donation per
student to wear Hawaiian/beachwear. Friday belongs to our students with treats and surprises! The middle school will
celebrate the conclusion of CSW 2015 with a Luau from 3:30-5:30 pm Friday.
Welcome! We welcome Mrs. Becky Fetz back to Our Lady as our Music instructor for the remainder of the school
year. Mrs. Jennifer Parr submitted her resignation to stay home with her newborn daughter, Genesis, and toddler,
Jewel. We wish Jennifer much happiness and welcome Becky to the Our Lady school family!
Stewardship Intention Cards— You should have received your intention card for the 2015-16 school year. Even if
you just filled out a card at Registration in July or later, you will need to reconsider your commitment to Our Lady and
make a decision to fulfill the tenets of being an active parishioner in order to receive the parishioner tuition rate for the
coming school year. This is a decision to make prayerfully and deliberately. Thank you for returning your stewardship
cards to the school or parish offices by Feb. 2.
Main Event— Only 5 weeks until the Main Event, Our Lady's premiere fundraiser of the year! Don't delay--get your
dinner tickets and raffle tickets now. You won't want to miss the dinner, silent and live auctions complete with extraordinary classroom projects and teacher-inspired outings! For $40, you will enjoy a great dinner at Huber's Plantation
Hall. This makes a great night out, joining in fellowship with parish and school families for a great cause--the ministries
of Our Lady! Save up in the next 5 weeks, so we can see you there! Tickets may be purchased from these contacts:
Dinner Tickets—Amy Lorenz at 859-609-0192; Reverse Raffle Tickets—Ann Day at 502-396-9943 or Wendy Kaiser at
502-903-5157 and Tuition Raffle Tickets—Gerri Flanagan at 502-295-4555. You may also fill out the form in this newsletter and send it with your check to the school or church office.
Spirit Day is Tuesday, Feb. 3! Show off your school pride, and we're on to a new month with progress reports
coming home soon! Keep up the homework and giving your best, Crusaders!
FOLLOW-UP TO THE STUDENT COUNCIL’S DECEMBER SERVICE PROJECT —
Dear Beloved OLPH Children:
Tri-County's Clara's Closet is thrilled to be one of the organizations chosen to receive money
from your big fundraiser. I have asked the school to order folding beds for children with this
money. Beds are an ongoing need of ours as we serve children in crisis. Your money purchased 12 beds! That means that 12 children coming out of a program or shelter with their
mother will not have to sleep on the floor of an empty apartment, as they await other furniture.
You are amazing, generous and kind. And....you are being the disciples that Jesus has asked
us to be for others.
Thank-you, and I love you from the bottom of my heart!
Cindy Schultz, Clara's Closet manager
Counselor's Corner - Mrs. Karen Duff
During January, my classroom lessons have focused on students choosing kindness instead of engaging in teasing or bullying behaviors. Students are learning
how their words and actions can either make others feel good or hurt them.
For example, I brought in a huge red paper heart in 1st grade, we read a story
where there were some unkind words and actions, and I tore a small piece of
the heart each time the main character felt hurt. The 1st graders gave excellent examples of how we could help put his heart back together and keep it full
of love! We talked about how they should show these positive behaviors daily
to their classmates. Also, 4th graders listened to a book called Say Something,
and they learned how important it is to say something if they see teasing. They
can say something kind and empathetic to the person being teased, they could
speak up and tell the bully to stop, and/or they could report the situation to an
adult. They learned how we all have the power to put a stop to teasing and bullying behaviors. Be sure to ask your child what his/her class learned this month
in Guidance class!
