In the central location of Christchurch, Bealey’s
Speight’s Ale House is the perfect place to host
your next event, whether it is a leisurely lunch,
a get together with mates, a birthday, a leaving
party, after work drinks and nibbles, a meeting,
a group dinner, a corporate event or a private
party.
Our famous southern hospitality means we
can guarantee to give you and your guests an
unforgettable experience while allowing you to
enjoy the occasion stress free. We have a range of
menus including cocktail platters and set menus
with something to suit your tastes and budget.

FUNCTION SPACES
Our function room comfortably fits 80 for seated
dinners and 120 for drinks and nibbles.
The room boasts a projector with a drop down
screen (with VGA and HDMI connections as well
as connected to SKY), a 50 inch tv, a microphone,
its own outdoor area and the choice to play your
own music through an aux cord or use our house
music all free of charge. In the foyer where the
function room bathrooms are located is a pool
table which you are welcome to use, it is $2 per
play or $50 for unlimited use of the pool table for
your guests throughout the evening.
We can reserve an area in the bar for up 50
people. Here you are welcome to enjoy our
cocktail platters as well as bar snack menu. Enjoy
the three 55 inch tvs screening a range of sport
with easy access to our outdoor patio where
smoking is permitted.
Our restaurant can take bookings up to 25 people
dining a la carte and up to 40 when dining on
a set menu. For a large dining group over 130
we are able to use both the function room and
restaurant to cater up to 170 people
for a seated meal.

OPERATING HOURS
Due to being in a residential neighbourhood our
licence to serve alcohol is to 11pm. On request
we are able to apply the council for a late licence
to open to either 12 or 1 am. This costs $68.70,
requires 20 working days notice and will be
charged to the host of the function. These are
usually issued without any problems however
there is no guarantee the council will issue the
licence and the money won’t be refunded if the
licence gets denied.
BEVERAGES + BAR ACCOUNTS
With our fantastic range of Speight’s tap beers,
top quality wines, ciders, spirits, bottled beer
and non-alcoholic beverages your guests will
be spoilt for choice. For our full beverage menu

BAR TAB:
The account holder/event organiser can specify
the range of beverages available on the bar
account and a credit limit can be established.
Your guests can then charge drinks onto the
function bar account. Once this amount has been
reached, you can either add further funds to the
account or guests can pay individually at the bar.
You also have the option of subsidised drinks
where you can choose to pay a $ amount per
drink and the guest pays the remaining value.
CASH BAR:
Your guests can pick and choose what they
would like to drink from our extensive beverage
selection and pay individually at the bar with
cash, eftpos or credit card.

Our function room is utilized as part of our
restaurant during normal dinner hours, and
therefore, we do require a minimum spend. This
number will naturally be easier to attain with
the greater number of persons you have in your
party.
CAKE
You are welcome to bring your own cake to your
function, as long as we are given a heads up
there will be no cost incurred. We are also able to
store the cake in our kitchen from midday on the
day of the function without charge.

We can assist with personalising your function
– talk to us about entertainment we have an
extensive knowledge of local musicians.

ROOM DECORATION
We have no problems with you utilizing any of
your own decorations, if applicable, as long as
you make your own plans to remove them at the
end of the evening. We only have two rules: no
nails and no glue guns! You may come in from
4pm the day your function is booked unless there
is an afternoon booking before you, please check
with the bar staff prior to your function.

CONFIRMATION
A signed booking form must be provided within
7 days of tentative booking in order to secure
booking. If a booking isn’t confirmed within that
time frame the date will be released.

CONDITIONS
MINIMUM SPEND/ROOM HIRE
Subject to the provisions set out below, credit card details and a
signed booking form must be provided within 7 days of tentative
booking in order to secure booking. You must choose from our set
menu options or pre-order your platters with confirmation no less
than 7 working days prior to the event.

RESERVATIONS
No less than 7 working days prior to your booking date, final guest
numbers, final menu selections (and dietary requirements) are to
be provided. Should fewer numbers arrive, the booked area may be
relocated to accommodate for other patrons.

GUARANTEED NUMBERS
Minimum numbers for catering, seating and beverage required no
less than 7 working days prior to your event. You will be required
to pay for the minimum advised numbers or the actual numbers on
the day of the event, whichever is the greater.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE
No food or beverages may be brought onto the premises by you
or your guests unless the prior consent of management has been
obtained. No persons under the age of 18 will be served alcohol.

BAR TABS
You can set up a bar tab for your guests at a credit limit decided by
you. The credit card to which the bar tab is to be charged to must
be provided on the day of the function and will be held at the bar
until the account is signed off and paid for.

CANCELLATIONS
In the event a function is cancelled prior to 4 weeks before the
date there will be no charge. If the function is cancelled within four
weeks before the function there may be a cancellation fee of $150
charged to the credit card details provided. This is at the
discretion of the manager.

LOSS/DAMAGES
Bealey’s Speight’s Ale House is not responsible for any loss or
damage to any guests or clients property before, during or after
the event. You agree to indemnify Bealey’s Speight’s Ale House for
any breakages, thefts, damages or extraordinary cleaning requirements caused by you, the attendees or subcontractors and shall
pay those costs within 7 days of the event.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
You are responsible for the conduct of all guests present. You
agree to indemnify Bealey’s Speight’s Ale House. against any
claims which may arise from injury or damages from the use of
any subcontractor you employ. In accordance with the Health and
Safety in Employment Act 1992 and Bealey’s Speight’s Ale House
Health and Safety Policy, clients, visitors and contractors must
obey all reasonable instructions and signs whilst on site, to ensure
that their actions do not create hazards to people or property. All
Fire and Emergency exits are to be kept clear at all times. Smoking
is not allowed in any indoor area. Signs, placards and advertising
are not to be nailed, taped, stapled or velcroed to any surface. The
repair of any damage to walls, doors, ceilings etc. will incur an
additional cost.

LICENSE
Bealey’s Speight’s Ale House operates under a SUPERVISED
LICENCE, this means minors may dine in the restaurant unaccompanied however in the bar and function room no person under
the age of 18 is permitted unless accompanied by their parent or a
court appointed legal guardian.

HOST RESPONSIBILITY
It is illegal in New Zealand to promote intoxication and/or allow
intoxicated persons on the premises. Bealey’s Speight’s Ale House
are responsible for creating a safe environment which complies
with the sale and supply of Alcohol Act 2012 or any subsequent
applicable legislation, and stand to receive a large fine and suffer
temporary licence suspension if found in reach of our legal
responsibilities. Therefore all staff have been informed to follow
the below policy:
