There were vendor booths and live entertainment started with Sundance Head, then Cameran Nelson, and last but not least Cody Johnson. Saturday started with a few drops of rain (usual Sylvan Beach Day weather) and all of the parade participants standing around anxious. They lined up the participants, and then everyone ran for cover. Later, hopes were high again as it looked like the sun was peeking through the clouds. Then the final decision came down from the La Porte Police that the lightning was too bad, so the parade was canceled – one of the three known times in the parade’s history. The candidates for Miss Sylvan Beach, along with all of the sponsors, were surely disappointed, but sponsors were still very proud of their representatives. The judging of the floats was accomplished, but at press time no details are available. Around noon the sun was bright and spirits were high. Sylvan Beach was open to the public with the carnival and cotton candy, the cook-off judging, arts and crafts booths, food vendors, games and the crowning of Miss Sylvan Beach 2015 and Jr. Miss Sylvan Beach 2015. The entertainment line-up started with the Space City Cowboys, Jason Cassidy Band featuring Jake Worthington and Mike and the Moonpies. The crowd stayed until the park closed. Many thanks to Harris County Commissioner, Precinct 2, Jack Morman, for allowing use of the park.
