L`OUSTALET Organic Blend
L'OUSTALET Organic Blend
• Today the Perrin family is certainly the largest organic
estate grower in the southern Rhône; and organic is
in their DNA (Beaucastel was a pioneer in organic
viticulture since 1950).
• When Famille Perrin make each of their crus, some
wines don't make the cut in the final blend, not because
they are not good but because of the respective percentage
of each grape in the blend. Even if we blend wines from
Châteauneuf and Gigondas and Vinsobres and Côtes du
Rhône, this can not have an appellation due to French
laws (although all of these vineyards are within a 40-miles
radius), not even Côtes du Rhône as some of the blend
comes from the crus. We blend these to make l'Oustalet
so it is, in fact, the family estates' second wine.
• Because we no longer have the constraints of the
appellation, we are free to use the grapes which we
think produce an even better blend and this is a blend
of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre... and Merlot (from a
Merlot vineyard we have in Orange).
• It is named after our restaurant in Gigondas which is
an organic restaurant with an organic garden. It is also the
house wine of the restaurant, which also has a wonderful
wine list.
• The horse on the label is the horse we use in our
vineyards and his name is 'Pistou'.
"Purchasing a wine from
this family is about as close
to a guarantee of authenticity
and high quality as one
can expect."
Robert Parker
"Over the past century,
they have built what may
be the southern Rhône's
most impressive wine
company."
