Konczynin, MD Dr. Konczynin was born in 1952 in New York City. He graduated from Chaminade High School and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Georgetown University. Dr. Konczynin attended medical school in Guadalajara, Mexico and returned to the United States in 1980 where he completed his residency in general surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. In 1985, Dr. Konczynin performed a family practice residency at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital. Soon after, he accepted a position at St. Charles Hospital and began his compassionate, decades long service to St. Charles and the residents of this community. Dr. Konczynin, a natural leader, expanded his role at St. Charles early on in his career when he was appointed director of the Emergency Department and later, Director of the Alcohol and Substance Abuse Rehabilitation program at St. Charles. He went on to become the director of the Department of Family Medicine at St. Charles and held the position of president of the medical staff. It was no secret that Dr. Konczynin’s favorite role was that of husband and father. Family was a priority in his life and all who knew him, knew that his wife and children were the center of his life. He met his wife, Barbara, when they both worked at Mather Hospital, he as an orderly and she as a nurse, and was a devoted and loving husband for all the years of their marriage. William Jr. and Allyson, his children, were his pride and joy and when his son married, he welcomed his daughter-in-law, Meghan, with open arms. He was beloved Uncle Bill to five nieces and nephews, two of whom followed his footsteps and became ER physicians. There is no doubt that Dr. Konczynin touched the lives of countless people, professionally and personally, in immeasurable ways. He was a beloved and familiar figure at St. Charles and could be seen almost daily, walking the halls, visiting patients, and speaking with staff. He was known for his wisdom, humor and affable nature and worked tirelessly to improve the health and lives of those he cared for. Dr. Konczynin leaves a legacy of selfless and compassionate service to his beloved patients and community and, while his presence will be deeply missed, he will never be forgotten. 4 Underwriters continued Once Upon A Time – $500 All County Millworks, Ltd.
