It’s is a quick project using easy machine appliqué. Machine appliqué using matching thread. Using black floss, embroider lady bug spots with satin stitch and antennae with stem stitch. Make 4 insect units. Quilting Diagram From blue print, cut: • 5 (2½"-wide) strips. From 2 strips, cut 2 (2½" × 39½") outer borders. Piece remaining strips to make 2 (2½" × 43½") top and bottom outer borders. Lay out 1 insect unit and 8 assorted B squares as shown in Nine Patch Block Assembly Diagram. Join into rows; join rows to complete 1 block (Nine Patch Block Diagram). Make 4 blocks. B B A Finishing 2. Layer backing, batting, and quilt Stitch Diagrams 1. Divide backing into 2 (13⁄8-yard) lengths.Stitch Cut 1 Diagrams piece in half lengthwise to make 2 narrow panels. Join 1 narrow panel to wider panel. Press seam allowance toward narrow panel. Remaining panel is extra and can be used to make a hanging sleeve. Insect Block Assembly Diagram top; baste. Quilt as desired. Quilt shown was quilted in the ditch and with a diagonal grid in the Nine Patch blocks (Quilting Diagram). 3. Join 2¼"-wide blue plaid strips into 1 continuous piece for straight-grain French-fold binding. Add binding to quilt.
