Vanguard
Amphibious Marine’s base of
knowledge and experience
began with the construction of
this 14 ft Vanguard designed by
Sevtec, Inc. This particular
craft was used extensively in the
Puget Sound region of
Washignton state and on trips
as far as 500 miles. It was built
by the owner of Amphibious
Marine, Bryan Phillips, in 1993.
Search and Rescue
The Prospector SAR as shown
in service with the Fall City
Fire Department in
Washington State. This 16 ft
craft was built for search and
rescue work by Sevtec, Inc.
and Bryan Phillips of
Amphibious Marine in 1997.
Retrofitted
Vanguard
This former duck hunting
craft was completely refitted
in 1999 by Amphibious
Marine for use in commercial
brine shrimp fishing in
Utah’s Great Salt Lake.
Explorer-20ft
This is the first Explorer craft
ever built from the Sevtec
Plans. It is pictured here on
the salt water near Deception
Pass, Washington. It was
built in 1996 by Bryan
Phillips, owner of
Amphibious Marine.
Proof of Concept
Expedition 1400 miles
from Seattle,
Washington to
Juneau, Alaska up the
inside passage (1998)
The protoype Explorer-20
performed beyond
expectations in the remote
and sometimes treachorous
waters along the western
coasts of Washington, British
Columbia, and Alaska. The
entire expedition was done
without a support vehicle.
State of Oregon’s
Department of
Environmental
Quality
This hovercraft was finished
in the summer of 2002 and
was put into service shortly
thereafter. The DEQ was
able to significantly expand
their mud sampling project
and finish in far less time
than orginally expected as a
result of this acquisition. The
vessel is still in service today.
Surveyor Model
“Super” Surveyor built for a
duck hunting client, (20032004) 28 hp fuel injected
Kohler with variable pitch
propeller. The tested payload
was 1,050 lbs. It is 15’ x 7.5’ and
has a much roomier interior.
The craft has a hypalon skirt,
which significantly increase
wear life. Amphibious Marine
designed and fabricated the
variable pitch propeller
mechanism for this project.
AM-14 Vanguard
This craft was built for a
client in South Africa for river
survey work.
AM-14 Vanguard
This client operates in
Alaska. The craft is used as a
tender for his commercial
fishing operations and does
contract work for marine
fisheries studies.
Camofluage AM14D Vanguard
This client in Alaska uses his
craft for moose hunting.
This model features a new
ducted thruster built by
Amphibious Marine.
AM-14D serves
Native American
tribe
This craft is used for reservoir
sedimentation studies with
the Pueblo Indian of New
Mexico.
Modified AM-14D
Vanguard
This client, the City of Everett
Water Management District,
came to Amphibious Marine
with a unique requirement.
They needed a vehicle capable
of amphibious operations that
didn’t operate on standard fuels
that could contiminate the
water supply for more than
400,000 people. The AM-14D
was successfully adapted to
propane fuel using a 34hp
Kohler engine.
Explorer-22 TDi
The latest version of the Explorer
was scaled up to 22 feet to
accomodate a diesel power plant
required by many applications.
The original Explorer design was
adapted for the VW 2 liter, 85 hp
Turbo Diesel power plant.
This Explorer-22 TDi is in service
in Alaska as an eco tour vessel
able to access many otherwise
inaccessible areas during all
seasons. The remarkably low fuel
consumption and noise levels
were key features in this
application.
Surveyor Retrofit
This craft was originally built by
Sevtec Inc. in 1998 and used
extensively for research and
development. Eventually it
found a home in Canada doing
geological surveys in service of
the oil exploration industry.
After many years of use the
client wanted additional
payload capacity so
Amphibious Marine did a
complete refit to extend its
service life.
