THANK YOU AND FAREWELL, DEAR TEACHERS!
This year, four of our beloved teachers are retiring. The community of St Pius X has been blessed with their
presence and ministry for many years, and we want to express our gratitude to the Lord and to each one of
them. Should you happen to come across them, please show them how much we all appreciate their service to
St Pius X youth!
Mrs. Darel Balutowski, also known affectionately as Mrs. Ski, retired after working at St. Pius X School for
twenty years. She taught all of her years in first grade. She was an anchor in our Primary Department.
Mrs. Geri Prager has taught for 34 years in the Archdiocese of Denver. Seven of those years have been in the
second grade at our school. For many years she was the director of the PreSchool at Queen of Peace Parish.
Ms. Kathy Gunsalus came to St. Pius 22 years ago. She taught Language Arts in Middle School and was a
kind and caring teacher. Her calm nature was appreciated by all and her students absolutely loved her!
Mrs. Marilyn Pahl taught at St. Pius for six years, although she was a substitute teacher for us for many
years. She began as our Science teacher and then moved to our Music Department. Through her efforts, our
choir and our Music program flourished.
Dear Teachers, we will miss you! May the Lord continue to bless you in your retirement, and be sure of
our prayers for you and your families.

THE PATH TO THE NEW EVANGELIZATION
“Looking back over the past fifty years and even at
our lives today, I think it’s too easy to see the problems in the world. It’s too easy to become a
cynic. There’s too much beauty in the world to
lose hope; too many people searching for something more than themselves; too many people who
comfort the suffering; too many people who serve
the poor; too many people who seek and teach the
truth; too much history that witnesses, again and
again, to the mercy of God, incarnate in the course
of human affairs. In the end, there’s too much evidence that God loves us, with a passion that is totally unreasonable and completely redemptive,
to everstop trusting in God’s purpose for the world,
and for our lives….”

THANKS TO THE BASKET BALL
CAMP VOLUNTEERS
Once again, for yet another year, a huge thank you goes out to
Dave Sipiora and Jill and Michele Walker for organizing the 6th
St. Pius X Basketball Camp last week. Not only do these individuals and their volunteers donate all of their time running the
Camp each year, but they also donate 100% of the Camp proceeds to the school’s Athletic Fund and to the parish’s St. Vincent de Paul Society. You are all true servants!

SOCIAL MINISTRIES
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS NEEDED
FOR VET’S HOME
FOOD BANK OF THE ROCKIES
We Need More Volunteers!
We need more Communion Ministers who are willing to
take the Eucharist to residents of the Colorado State Veteran’s Home (on corner of Montview and Peoria). You
are needed to visit some 8-10 Catholic residents at the
home - just one Sunday a month from 10 AM to
11:30AM! Training is provided. If you can help, please
call Jay at the Parish Office.
SOUP KITCHEN
JULY 10th
This Friday, July 10th is a Soup Kitchen Friday where
our volunteers travel to downtown Denver to serve the
evening meal at the St. Francis Center (2323 Curtis St.).
We still need new volunteers as we continue to be a few
volunteers short of late! All are welcome. Most of us
carpool from the Parish Office, leaving at 2:00 PM - returning by 5:30 PM. You can meet us down at the 2323
Curtis St. location. For more information or directions
downtown call the Parish Office.
For over 10 years, St. Pius volunteers have been helping out at the Food Bank of the Rockies (FOB). We
need some more help! We work from 12:30-3:30 PM
on Wednesdays and Fridays at the 10700 E. 45th FOB
location. Some work most Wednesdays and Fridays
and some work only once a month or less. Whatever
you wish to do is fine. Our task is to repackage damaged food goods for area non-profits. However, each
3 hr. shift we do at FOB contributes free food credits
for Aurora Catholic Charities helping them stock their
food bank. So your 3 hours of service does double
duty!!! For more info, call parish office.
HELPER FOR NURSING HOME MASSES
Need volunteer 1-2 times a month
Fr. Sark says Mass at Aspen Care on the 1st Friday of each month and at the Veteran’s Home on the 2nd Friday of each month. He needs someone to help him at
the Nursing Homes with these Masses from 9:30 AM until 11 AM.
If you can help with this for one or two times a month that would help
Fr. Sark a great deal. Please call Jay at the Parish Office.
ADULT FAITH FORMATION
ARE YOU AN ADULT CATHOLIC WHO HAS NOT MADE 1st COMMUNION OR BEEN CONFIRMED?
Classes start in July
There are many adult Catholics who were baptized in the Church as infants, but through no fault of their own, were not
able to make their 1st Communion or Confirmation as children. Perhaps this is you! Now is your opportunity to make
this right. If you are an adult Catholic wanting to make your 1st Communion or Confirmation, classes are starting in
July. They will be held in conjunction with our RCIA Program every Tuesday night from 7-8:30 PM. If you are interested, please call Jay at the Parish Office at 303-364-7435.
DO YOU WANT TO BECOME CATHOLIC?
RCIA Starting in July
We did some re-structuring of our RCIA Program these past few weeks, so we have delayed the start of our RCIA Program for 2015-16. We will be starting up again in July. RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the study Program for all persons interested in joining the Catholic Church. It combines Biblical study, with a broad overview of
Catholic doctrine mixed in with Catholic worship and prayer aimed at helping newcomers find a spiritual home in the
Catholic Church. Classes will be held weekly on Tuesday nights from 7-8:30 PM. If you are interested, please call Jay
at the Parish Office at 303-364-7435.

ST. PIUS X
July 12-17th
A SUMMER CAMP FOR
CATHOLIC YOUTH
Totus Tuus (Latin for Totally Yours), a summer catechetical program for younger kids and teens will be held at St. Pius
X Parish from July 12-July 17th. The Grade School kids program (for kids entering 1st-6th) runs Mon.-Fri. from 9:30 AM
to 2:30 PM. The day will include religious instruction, daily Mass, songs, praise, games and recess. For Middle School
kids and High School teens, the Program runs Sun.-Thurs. 7:30-9:30 PM and also combines catechesis with having
fun! Totus Tuus is taught by energetic Catholic college students. Registration forms are in the bulletin insert or through
the Parish Office . It will be $30 per child or $50 for a family. Scholarships will be made available to help cover
cost. Please register by July 7th.
PLEASE BE SURE TO REGISTER!!
TOTUS TUUS NEEDS VOLUNTEERS
Especially High School Students
A successful Totus Tuus Program requires 5-10 additional volunteers who can help during the week in the classroom
helping with religious instruction, performing skits, and managing the kids. This is a great opportunity for high
school age kids needing service hours! If you are 18 or over, you can also help, but you will need to have
completed the Safe Environment classes and a background check. To volunteer, contact the Parish Office.
