ith the biggest night of your high school experience less than a month away,
don’t settle for just curling or straightening your hair for prom! Instead try
out these unique and gorgeous hairstyles that will leave every girl on the dance floor
green with envy.
Beautiful Ballerina Bun
Be daring and pull off this unique and sophisticated
ballerina bun. You’ll closely resemble a princess at
this fairytale prom!
1) Gather your hair up into a high pony tail at the
top of your head.
2) Twist the pony tail.
3) Wrap the pony tail around the base of the elastic.
4) Using about 5-8 bobby pins, cross pin around the

headband!
Braided Halo
This elegant hairstyle is perfect for those of you with long hair. It looks tricky yet
can be completed in less than five minutes.
1) Brush all of your hair to one side and braid the entire way down.
2) Secure with a small clear elastic.
3) Pull the braid over the top of your head, about 2 inches from your forehead (it
should end near your ear).
4) Secure the halo by cross pinning 2-4 bobby pins in an “X” shape.
5) Accessorize with some show stopping earrings and dance the night away!

braided halo, respectively.
The Romantic Side
Make your date fall head over heels with this romantic and glamorous hairstyle.
There won’t be any excessive bobby pins or hair ties tugging on your hair all night
so you’ll be able to dance the night away with no worries!
1) With a 3/4 to 1 inch curling iron, curl all of your hair.
2) Sweep all your hair to whichever side you wish your ponytail to be and secure
with a clear elastic.
3) Using your fingers, make a small hole in your hair above the elastic and flip your
ponytail through.
4) Accessorize with a pretty embellished headband or a colorful hair bow!

hen you look back at prom night, and you’re showing your kids photos of you and your
date, you don’t want to have a flash of bad and awkward memories rushing back at you.
Here are some simple tips to avoid having a disastrous prom experience!
1) Under any circumstances, do NOT forget the boutonniere/corsage. Leaving your date
flowerless will just start the night extremely awkward!
2) Color coordinate! Ties or suspenders with a matching dress are just plain adorable.
3) Ask your date in a cute, creative way! Think outside the box, just flowers won’t cut it!
4) Boys, don’t torture your date with a white tux! It’s far from fresh.
5) Don’t cause any prom bus drama, it’s not worth it and I’m pretty sure your mom’s mini
van is still open.
6) Try to avoid being a clingy date! Regardless of how amazing you are, they’re going to
want to hang out with their other friends.
7) Keep it classy, you don’t want the bad reputation as the prom date gone wild.
8) Guys, hold your date around the waist, not the shoulder. Be a man!
9) Be a gentleman! Boys, open the door for you date or offer them your jacket. Chivalry is
not dead!
10) Be an active date! Break out your moves on the dance floor or take funny pictures in the
photo booth. Don’t mope around and be a downer!
Will you go to prom with me?

rom- one of the most anticipated school functions of the year. Every girl plans her perfect
dress, heels, hair, makeup and even her date. However, she has no control over how she is
asked to the dance, so it is up to the guys to make it perfect! Guys, don’t sweat it, we’ve come
up with a few steps to help your planning go just a bit easier.
* Step 1: Find a girl who isn't awkward and who you are comfortable to dance with.
* Step 2: Talk to the girl's friends to make sure that your girl doesn't already have a date and to
get some ideas on how they would want to get asked...girls know best.
* Step 3: Think of a creative way to ask her that isn't too cheesy! Try incorporating some inside
jokes that you have with her to add something special to it. Here are a few ideas:
- Write a note that says "Will you go to prom with me?" and wrap it in aluminum foil. Make
a batch of cupcakes and stick the note in one before baking them (be sure you can remember
which one has the note) Pass the cupcakes out to everyone in class, but be sure to give her the
one with the note in it.
* A fun one is to cover their car windshield and windows with Post-It notes and leave a note on
the door handle asking them to prom.
* Step 4: Once you know your idea, you can go get the materials you need to ask your date like
balloons, flowers and maybe even a poster.
- Make sure to get a bouquet of flowers, NOT just a single rose. She will want to know that she
is worth more than just a few dollars.
- Be obnoxious because it is the perfect time to make your date feel special!
* Step 5: Pick the perfect day or event to ask her and go for it! There is no reason to be nervous
because she will most likely say yes to you!
* Step 6: Make sure you figure out who is paying for what before the dance to avoid any confusion and you should be set for an amazing day with your dream date!

It’s that time of year, folks. The time where girls sit and scour
various online stores and mall boutiques, where dudes fumble to
find a get a date and a matching tie. Yes ladies and gentlemen,
I’m talking about Prom. To help ease the stress of the dance of
the year, here are some fabulous fashion tips for the season.
their style.

High-Low, High-Low, it’s off to Prom we Go
You’ve seen it everywhere-- from summer dresses
to skirts high-low hems are taking over. If you can’t decide
whether or not you should opt for a long or a short dress for
prom, try a one with a high-low hem. For those of you clueless
kids, that means that the dress is short in the front and long in
the back. Asos and lulus.com offer sweet varieties.
Snazzy Suspenders
Who wears belts anymore? Lose the belt and snap on
suspenders for a more stylish look. Go with black ones and lose
the vest too!
Creamsicle Dream
Do you scream for ice cream? Good! Creamiscle/pastel colors are the perfect way to incorporate the spring season
into your prom outfit. Some to consider would be cotton candy
blue (and I mean light blue, very light blue…), butter-pecan yellow, and if you’re daring enough, orange creamsicle orange.
In the Nude
No, it’s not what you’re thinking; get your brain out
of the gutter! Nude colors are perfect to choose for your prom
color palette, whether it’s shoes, makeup, or your dress. Some
good choices of this color are flats for you tall girlies, Mary
Jane-style pumps, lace dresses, and lipstick (before buying,
make sure the color suits you by visiting a local Sephora).
Color Me Surprised
For those of you who yawn at the thought of having a
“safe” palette for prom, here’s your opportunity. Luckily, bright
colors are in this season as well. If you adore the cream colored
palette but want to go bold as well, try cerulean blue pumps
paired with a pale lace dress.
Real Men Wear Bow Ties
Whether you like it or not, bow ties are back and
they’re the new way to make a statement at your Prom. Avoid
the sea of Mens Wearhouse rented tie and vest combos and opt
for a cool bow tie that matches your date’s dress.Want some extra brownie points? Tie the tie yourself, clip ons are for losers!
Don’t have the slightest idea how to tie one? All you need is the
internet, a bow tie, a little bit of patience and you’re all set!
Exceptional Blazers
Tired of the usual all black tux? If you are aiming forsomething a little more unique, throw on a colored blazer with
black pants! Stick with white, crème, or charcoal grey though
or else you'll look tacky in a bright color. And don't mistake
this for permission to wear an all white tux, trust me, that ship
(or should I say suit?) has sailed. If you’re feeling adventurous, go with a velvet tux. Make sure that you stick with black
though, colored velvet tends to look cheap.

Avoid a Sock-Snooze-fest
With an evening full of dancing, walking, and attempted pictures of you jumping at the lake, there are plenty of
opportunities to showoff your socks. Gone are the days when
you can get away with wearing a pair of black dress socks to
Prom. Now socks can be used as a way to express yourself. With
so many different types such as striped, argyle, checkered, or
just bold solid colored socks, there is almost no limit to what
your socks can say about you! If you are too scared to sport
some crazy socks, try wearing some that match your tie, colored
socks are better than black ones!

Just dance, it'll be okay
by Rachel Handa and Ashley Beall
In-Depth Editor and Opinion Editor
1.) Don’t be awkward- Don’t think too much about how to dance or you will end up looking stiff. There is no
reason to be nervous; your date will just want you to have a good time! If you aren’t the best dancer, then you can
resort to the classic dance moves like the “running man,” or “the robot.” (Just kidding, please don't actually do this
or your date might run away from you.)
2.) Have a good time!- Dance your heart out because you only live once, or YOLO, as many people say nowadays.
Remember, people are too busy getting their own groove on to pay attention to you!
3.) Keep it classy- You don’t have to dance in any kind of way that might make you uncomfortable, especially since
it is a school event. Instead, just relax and don’t be afraid to get in touch with your “inner dork” while dancing!
4.) Learn how to slow dance- There will definitely be some slow dance songs so make sure you know what you
are doing! It is the perfect opportunity to impress your date, so try not to step on any toes.
5.) Make sure you smell good- You are going to be dancing all night surrounded by people in a room, so make sure
to put on a lot of deodorant. Trust me, you don’t want to be the reason why the floor all of a sudden gets empty!
6.) Involve your dance partner also- Don’t get so involved in your own dance moves that you forget that you are
dancing with another person! Even if you “have the moves like Jagger,” you might make them feel as if you don’t
want to dance with them or that you are too into yourself.

here is an abundance of rumors about this

The theme this year is Happily Ever After.
“Although the fairytale theme is a bit cliché,
once you’re taking a ride on a horse drawn carriage or dancing across the ballroom floor, you’ll
realize there’s really no other theme that would
suit this year’s prom better” junior Jenna Beuck
