Class of 2017 Nomination Packet
Class of 2017 (August 2015-August 2017) Nomination Packet Nominations must be submitted by May 15, 2015 S ince 1932, Texas Trucking Association has existed to protect the collective interest of the trucking industry. We are dedicating to educating our members and equipping them with the tools to operate successful businesses in the Lone Star State. And in August 2012, the focus shifted to the next generation of industry leaders with the launch of the Emerging Leaders Council. The Emerging Leaders Council is comprised of up-and-coming executives from TXTA carrier and allied member companies. Each of the 23 members of the inaugural class made a two-year commitment to attend four of six annual meetings and launched fundraisers and community service projects on behalf of the association. During their term, members have developed new business relationships and friendships; increased their knowledge of trucking, legislative, regulatory, political and leadership issues; and they have established themselves as future leaders within the association. EDUCATION Over the past two years, the inaugural ELC class has heard from titans of the industry, economic experts and political gurus including: Darrin Roth, ATA Dave Osiecki, ATA Major Chris Nordloh, TxDPS Texas State Rep. Jason Isaac Jeff Langless, FMCSA Dr. Judy Oskam, Texas State Univ. Angelos Angelou, AngelouEconomics Sgt. Dana Moore, TxDPS Martin Garsee, Houston Community College John D. Esparza, TXTA Russell Jurk, Bobby Lehmann Trucking Gary Salisbury, Fikes Truck Line Danny Smith, UPS Brian Fielkow, Jetco Delivery John Hickerson, Global Net Logistics Marcia Faschingbauer, Excargo Services Richard Minnix, McClatchy Brothers NETWORKING Members have also had the opportunity to network with their peers, raise funds for TruckPAC and serve their community. Last September, ELC hosted a PAC dinner in Houston where five legislators were in attendance. The ELC also held a toy drive in December to collect toys for Operation Homefront, benefitting children of deployed soldiers, and Operation Blue Santa, benefitting children in the Austin community. But it’s not all business. Members enjoyed visiting at receptions, dinners and even healthy competition at Top Golf. Joining the Emerging Leaders Council “ has proven to be a great networking tool. It builds bonds between the newer members, setting up the kind of relationships necessary for a successful association. And for me, it has been a personal and professional growing experience. ” Christi Yost Operations Manager W.M. Dewey & Son, Inc.
