NRVC GENERAL MEETING – FEBRUARY, 2016

Secretary’s Report: Minutes from the last meeting appeared in February 2016 Good Oil. Moved by Lynn
Farmer, Seconded by Barry Hughes. Incoming mail received 5 items and 1 Invitation. Postage has gone up for
Good Oil mail outs.
Treasurers report: Was read out and Moved by Andre Van der Velda, Seconded by Glenn Towndrow.
Presidents Report: Families that rang on the night of our AGM who were unable to get through the flooded roads
will get their 3 points for January. Discussion about Spring Cruise, Dave Magill put his hand up with Don and
Sandra and a few other members offered to help Glenn Towndrow. The Spring Cruise will be held Sunday
October 16th. Members decided that less work would be ideal if there were no Goddie Bags, a few less Raffle
Prizes and to get donations. Copies of by-laws are available at meetings.
Vice-Presidents Report: Terry spoke about Australia Day – What a great day. In the Good Oil 2nd page, spoke
to Tom Broadbent about the photo, it turned out to be his son and daughter-in-law.
Club Captain Report: Sign on sheet going around for Bargoed House Sunday 7th February for members to go
straight there. Saturday 20th Barefoot Bowls, $10 lunches. Sunday 6th March Morpeth Motorama. Tea Gardens
Hawks nest Saturday 12th March $10 entry fee. Neville spoke if anyone would like to do a run. Dennis Paynting
run will be August 7th.
Registrars Report: 4 Inspections and 2 permissions to move. 60 day rego members are to come to meetings to
receive 30 points for the year. Check your insurance.
Mid-Week Run: Ruth and Gary Newcombe will do runs, need someone to do them when away. 7 cars with 1
breaking down, morning tea and lunch Catherine Hill Bay.
Editors Report: Apologies to Ruth and Gary due to name being left out for their report and photographs.
Thanked everyone.
General Business: Glenn Towndrow presented Lewis from the John Hunter Children’s Hospital a cheque for
$3,000 donation in regards to our Spring Cruise.
Those members who had not renewed their membership by the end of the night of the AGM will not get their
attendance points being classified un-unfinancial. Their point score for the next twelve months will start once
membership is

We left Hexham Maccas on Australia Day and headed for Nelson Bay. With 31 cars we joined the Grand Parade
by the water front finishing at Fly Point. Frank and Don thought they were at Steamfest due to overheating
problems. Market Stalls and entertainment were held throughout the day. Cerificates were presented to Lynn
Farmer, Mitchell Wilson, Doreen and John Bailey. A great day was had by all.

With 45 members and 4 visitors attending M.A.D. day on a nice day weather wise, people were arriving on
the grounds at all times during the day. Certificates were presented to Barry Hughes, Max Pengilley, John
O’Neill. Collene won a raffle prize and was very happy, the BMC Badged Riley 4/68 made its re-appearance
after some months having spent time in Sydney with an MG specialist. Another great days outing for members
and all had an enjoyable day.
MID – WEEK RUN – Wednesday 17th February, 2016

We started the day with 8 cars & 13 car enthusiasts heading off to Rathmines for morning tea. We are pleased to
announce that all cars arrived and we didn't lose anybody along the way.
It was great to see Vicki and Ken join us for the day. Once again thanks for the lovely cakes etc supplied to
share with our coffee. The weather was overcast and cool but after chatting for a while we all decided to drive to
Shingle Spitters Point for lunch.
On arrival we had to park the cars in small groups as a bus was taking up most off the space. As it was still
overcast we picked a table protected from the breeze. Not long after settling down out came the sunshine and
once again the weather was perfect. School kids were having fun canoeing on the lake and sailboats could be
seen in the distance. The award was given to Brian Jackson for his efforts of driving his 1929 Desoto for the day.
Once again it was a great day and would like to thank Barry and Andre for offering to help for May and June
while we are away.(more info later) Also would just like to mention if it's raining we will still have our mid week
run with morning tea at Bluegum Hills & lunch at Maryland Tavern.
