From left, Lori Smith, Sandy Adams, Gayla Davis, Bonnie Bolduc
The first meeting of the 2015-2016 year for the Gulfport/Townshores Women’s
Club was held on Wednesday, November 11, at the Grand Villa Senior Living
Community. Chairwoman Sandy Adams introduced Lori Smith, Community
Relations Coordinator who explained the various programs available at Grand
Villa. The members enjoyed a delicious luncheon provided by Grand Villa.
After lunch there was a short business meeting. As this was Veterans Day,
President Gayla Davis suggested a moment of silence to honor current and
past military members. After the meeting they were given a tour of Grand
Villa’s facility.
Throughout
history,

cats have provided fascination and

composer, singer, storyteller and
lifelong cat aficionado Denny Mitchell,

original music at the Gulfport Public
Library on December 10 at noon.

Gulfport Senior
Center Chat Room
PARC Cleans Up with Clothing Sale
Staff from Sun Country
Cleaners presented PARC
with a check for $16,485
from its Unclaimed Clothing
Sale on November 11 at
PARC’s main campus. The
sale took place at the PARC
Thrift Store, 5825 66th St.
N, with the line winding
around the building before
the doors opened at 8 a.m.
Each item in the sale sold
for $5, and close to 3,300
items.
All proceeds from this sale
benefit PARC, a non-profit
agency supporting children
and adults with intellectual
and
developmental
disabilities. Since the sale
began 9 years ago, Sun
Country has donated more
than $100,000 to PARC.
For more than five years, a growing
number of older Gulfport residents
have considered 2 p.m. on Fridays a
very special time of the week.
That’s when they meet for a free
hour-long talk session at the Chat
Room at the Gulfport Senior Center, 5501 57th St. S.
The Chat Room is the creation
of Carol Ehrenkranz. She works to
stimulate the minds of those attending
in various ways. She usually begins
each session with a mind game, such
as what several terms written on a
marker board have in common. Most
of the time, the correct answers come
quickly. And everyone enjoys the
challenges, and the friendship.
