June 21: Sunday The Maguindanao People of the
June 21: Sunday PROVERBS 6:20 “My son, keep your father's commands and do not forsake your mother's teaching.” “As we celebrate „Father‟s Day, let us praise God for the fathers in our midst. Thank God for their lives and their love for God. Praise God for their godly lives and their involvement in church. Pray for them to continue leading their households into a closer relationship with God. May the Lord continue to mold them as they serve Him and grow in Him.” Least Reached People Groups of the Philippines Kabig* - The Kabig practice animistic traditions with their faith. Let us pray for the continuing proclamation of the gospel to deliver and transform precious Kabig lives. Economically, they are in need of technical skills, business capital, and market access. Let us pray for transformational and participatory development initiatives to prosper. The Maguindanao People of the Philippines The Maguindanao people or literally, the “people of the plains” has a long history of story-telling and riddling. These traditions help them pass traditions and values on from one generation to the next. Riddles and stories help unify them as a people. With a population of over 1 million, they are the largest Muslim people group in the Philippines. Pray for the Bible to be translated into their language. Pray for God to send workers who will share His love and gospel message In a way that the Maguindanaos can understand. Pray Jesus Christ—the answer to life’s biggest riddle—to be made known to these people. May God draw the Maguindanao out of the darkness and into the light of His only Son. June 22: Monday PROVERBS 18:22 “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.” STAFF: Sis. Helen Cama. “Praise the Lord for blessing me with volunteers for the Follow-up Ministry for CCBC and for the Cabuyao-Arrow Ministry for OFWs. To God be the glory! Pray for wisdom, strength, good health, and financial provision for regular check-up. Pray that I would continue to be sensitive in joining God where He is at work. God is good all the time.” Maranao People of the Philippines The Maranao people or literally, the “people of the lake” are known for their native arts and crafts. They also among the largest Muslim groups in the Philippines. Their works of art usually depict the Sarimanok—the bird of the Maranao people, believed to have been found by Mohammed in the first heaven. It’s crowing once awoke every creature, except man. When its crowing stops, as the Maranaos believe, judgment day will come. Although a church was established among them in— —1902 and there have been other missionary efforts, the Maranaos do not have the entire Bible in their language and are still considered unreached. Pray for the Creator of the universe to reveal Himself to the Maranaos. Pray for these artistically gifted people to have the opportunity to receive the gift of eternal life in Christ. Ask God to send workers into this harvest field and establish His church among them. Pray for the small number of Maranao believers that exist to be encouraged and empowered to share the gospel with their friends, family, and other Muslim groups in the Philippines. BIRTHDAYS Blessie Almora ● Leny Delos Santos ● Khai Loseo Emma Lucero ● Jhun Malana ANNIVERSARY Gene & Cynthia Sebuala June 23: Tuesday ROMANS 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” BRETHREN’s Praises & Prayer Requests CCBC Family. “Praise God for the recently held CBAP Strateia International Conference (June 16-20) at PBTS, Baguio City. Pray that the Lord will continue to ignite our churches‟ passion for mission. Continue praying for our sick brethren. Pray for Sis. Ruby Abrenica. May the Lord grant provision for all her medical needs. Pray that He will bless her doctors with wisdom in giving the right treatments. Pray also for continued healing for Bro. Isagani Gutierrez and for Bro. Rey San Diego who continues to suffer from back pains and other health conditions. Pray for April Rose De Guzman. She was admitted to the hospital where she is sustained by a respirator, under intensive care.” Ptr. Rey & Maya Maclang. “Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise!‟ The Lord has promised: „Call unto me, and I will answer thee and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.' (Jeremiah 33:3). We would like to covet your prayers especially regarding a very significant need. We are asking God's favor through the leadership (Board of Trustees) of Bangkok Christian International School for the studies of our children, Faithful and Joyful.” Acehnese People of Indonesia In many ways, the Aceh people could not ask for a better living situation, with their large oil and natural gas reserves, long and steady history of independence from foreign powers, and beautiful climate. In other ways, however, there may not be a worse region to live in. The land near the ocean was decimated, following the horribla Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami that killed 167,000 in 2004. They still haven’t fully recovered. There is also an on-and-off struggle between Indonesia’s government and the Free Aceh Movement, a group fighting for the Aceh’s complete independence from Indonesia. These people are willing to fight and die for independence from a government they believe is robbing them of their natural— —resources. They are fiercely dedicated to Sunni Islam and have done much evangelistic work on its behalf. There are but a handful of Bible-believing Christians among them. Pray that the Aceh people will be dissatisfied with their spiritual lives and seek out His truth. Pray that their neighbors who love the Lord will reach out to them, resulting in a massive movement to Christ. BIRTHDAY Gerome Quintela ANNIVERSARY Gary & Janet Reyes(USA) June 24: Wednesday PSALM 73:23-26 “Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” CHURCH Ministries & Activities DAWN PRAYER: Let us pray for one another as a church. Pray that more CCBCers would come boldly to His throne of grace and take their role as intercessors. May we be one in our praises, thanks, supplication, and repentance and may we be united in yielding our all to Him. MIDWEEK ENCOUNTER WITH GOD: Pray that we will will be steadfast in praying for the concerns of each other and of the church through this midweekly activity. Let us continue to pray that more people may find time to attend and fellowship with fellow believers. Let us fill our church with the pleasing aroma of the prayers of the saints and share the burden of interceding for others as we continue to lift up to God the concerns of our brethren, our church, our country, and the nations. CCBC BUILDING PROJECT: Praise God for continuing to touch the lives of people as they faithfully give to our Expanding to Send Building Project. Pray for diligence in the reassessment of middle and long term expansion requirements, which would compose the master plan of the church building. Pray for direction in appropriating the master plan into phases, considering workability and the viability of project cost. BUILDING UP CHURCHES: Praise God for another opportunity He has given us to reach out and help other churches establish and strengthen their witnessing program. Pray for (15) Life Gospel Christian Church and (14) Grace Christian Church trainees as they undergo Ev2. Pray also for CCBC trainers as they volunteer to travel to these churches every week, and serve as facilitators and trainers. Pray for strength, good health and safety, especially for the Thursday group whose training starts at 6:00pm and ends at 10:00pm. CCBC 56th ANNIVERSARY: Praise God for another year that He has added to our church. Let us celebrate our 56th anniversary with the theme, “Rest in This Restless World” . Thank God for faithfulness in sustaining us through the years and for the opportunity to be used by Him to transform our community, birth daughter churches, and to help and support other churches and Christian organizations. Praise God for how He has raised up able leaders and pastors through our church and for the opportunity to share the gospel to people and engage them in mission work. V.O.I.C.E. [Values Instruction Classes): Pray for the V.O.I.C.E. classes that CCBC will be handling in Sto. Cristo Elementary School and Bungad Elementary School. May God continue to strengthen the commitment of the teachers and volunteers. Pray for their patience, creativity, and dedication. Pray also for God‟s favor upon the elemetary school principals. Pray that many students will learn about the right values and be brought to the saving grace and knowledge of God. YOUNG COUPLES FELLOWSHIP (Facing Challenges and New Realities: Pray for the young couples of our church as they fellowship on June 28. Pray for them as they meet together and talk about the challenges they are facing as newly married couples. Pray also for the people who are planning this event, as well as for the speaker. May they continue to inspire and help couples cope with life in these challenging times. YOUNG ADULTS SPARK: Pray for the Young Adults Ministry as they learn about money matters in a seminar with speaker Chinkee Tan, themed: “Practical Money Management.” Pray for this enrire event, scheduled on July 5th, 2:00-5:00pm at the CCBC Worship Hall. Jambi Malay People of Indonesia The Jambi take pride in their strict and traditional Islamic lifestyle. Every village has a mosque and a religious school (madrasa). Much of their lifestyle is centered in traditional Islamic ceremonies and rituals and they feel threatened by anyone who comes to them from the outside. Pray for Christ’s ambassadors to break through this wall of distrust by providing people with good-paying jobs and educational assistance that will bring them up to par (in terms of skills and employability) with other ethnic groups in the area. Pray that this trust will open Jambi Malay hearts to hear about Jesus Christ who offers them full life. We lift up these families to You. May You continue to shower them with all kinds of blessings and May they declare with conviction Your Lordship and Your greatness to all the peoples.” Lampungese People of Indonesia Community is everything to the Lampungese. Life to them is not a question of what a person wants, but what brings uniformity to the group. When a Lampungese is won to Christ, he is usually kicked out of his village and sometimes threatened with death. Because of the fears and closed traditions, they are a very difficult people to reach for Christ. Pray that the Holy Spirit will encourage missionaries among the Lampungese who are seeing very little fruit, to wait upon the Lord. Pray for the few believers in the area to persevere despite persecution. Pray that the will share the gospel with their friends and family and that they will be bold and willing to forsake all for Christ’s fame. BIRTHDAYS Jaime Calumpiano ● Mike Lomibao ● Meriel Quitco (GenSan) ANNIVERSARIES Paulo & Me’Ann Victoria ● Ildefonso & Fe Ugaban June 26: Friday PROVERBS 3:25-26 “Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared.” Prayer for the Nation Pray for the men of our country. Pray that they will lead their households according to God‟s will. Pray that they would not be absentee fathers. May they be morally strong so they can withstand the temptations that we know are always lurking around them, particularly those relating to financial matters, sexual relationships, and work-related issues. Pray that they would be gentle to their wives and good examples to their children. We also lift up to You our Muslim countrymen as they celebrate Ramadan. May this month-long prayer and meditation point them to the One true God. Pray that the BangsaMoro Basic Law would be the answer to the long–running peace process between the government and the Muslim people. Pray that the Lord will continue to give wisdom to our congressmen as they formulate laws related to this. Minangkabau People of Indonesia The Minangkabau, also called the Minang, is the largest matrilineal society in the world. Money and property pass from mother to daughter. In the past, married daughters remained in their parents’ home; their husbands consinered merely as welcome “visitors.” Boys as young as seven are sent to live in a surau (prayer house and community center) where they learn religious and cultural teachings until they become teens. They are encouraged to leave and seek worldly knowledge, business experience, and wisdom in larger towns and cities. They return to their villages more qualified to participate in village administration. Presumably, they are also more attractive candidates for marriage. Today, husbands and wives would often migrate to urban areas to seek education and jobs. The Minangkabau are virtually 100% Muslim. There are few, if any known believers in Jesus. Pray that the Minangs in the urban areas will come in contact with the gospel of Jesus Christ, become believers and thake their faith back to the villages. Pray that the village headmen will accept Jesus as Lord and lead others to faith in Christ. BIRTHDAYS Roy Carlos ● Nita Ebalin ● Nico Gloria Kimpee Panganiban ● Joy Cisneros(Samar) ● Jazel Talosig Jon Valdezco(Canada) ● Paul Yeh ANNIVERSARIES Phab & Lolit Adoc ● Paeng & Eileen Alvaran Michael & Cynthia Bato ● Aniong & Edith Castro William & Monette Herrera ● Robert & Leah Plucena June 27: Saturday MATTHEW 25:37-40 “Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'” SUNDAY WORSHIP CELEBRATION: Serve the Lord with gladness, come before His presence with singing. Let us pray for and with God‟s servants as they lead tomorrow‟s worship celebration. Pray for the worship and prayer leaders, the praise and worship team, media and sound tech personnel, the ushers, and all ministers who will be taking part in the worship services; that their hearts be one in giving back the glory that is due our Lord. Pray for God‟s messenger, that he be filled with the Holy Spirit as he delivers the word to the congregation. Pray for ready hearts to serve and to worship as individuals, as a family, and as a church. May the Lord bless our pulpit preaching, as we study the life of Jesus as it is told in the Book of Luke. Buginese (Bugis) People The Bugis people depend upon their own good deeds to gain access to heaven. According to their worldview, if they pray five times daily and make the pilgrimage to Mecca, they will have 99% guarantee of going to heaven. There are over 5 million Buginese people spread out over the souther Sulawesi Island. There is intense spiritual warfare in this group and only a few have come to Christ. Ask the Lord of the harvest to send out more workers into His harvest field. Pray that the eyes of the Bugis will be opened to see Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Pray that many households will turn from strongholds of Islam to freedom in Christ. BIRTHDAYS Phab Adoc ● Chat Clemente Ptr.
