Three is ideal with one in the morning, then lunch and two in the afternoon. Depending on the number of wines being tasted, allow 1 to 1 ½ hours per visit, plus travel time between wineries. Copain Wines 7800 Eastside Road Healdsburg, CA 95448 707.836.8822 http://www.copainwines.com/alt/Copain_Wine_Cellars/Home.html Wells Guthrie came on to the wine scene with a bang in the late 1990s and captured the attention of wine critics and wine lovers alike. Focusing on balanced wines with minimal intervention, Copain is on the leading edge of producing outstanding Pinot Noir, Syrah and an assortment of Rhone blends, both white and red. Rochioli Vineyards & Winery 6192 Westside Road Healdsburg, CA 95448 707.433.2305 http://www.rochioliwinery.com/ One of the pioneering wineries that put Russian River wines on the map, and Pinot Noir in particular. Going back to 1938, Rochioli has some of the most sought after Russian River vineyards, focusing on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. 5|Page Copyright 2010 The Wine Riff www.WineRiff.com Porter Creek 8735 Westside Road Healdsburg, CA 95448 707.433.6321 http://www.portercreekvineyards.com/pages/home_main.html Owned and operated by a father and son team, this boutique winery is in the heart of the Russian River appellation, producing excellent quality, reasonably-priced Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah. At the tasting room be sure to try the Old Vine Carignane. Tip #2: Although many wineries have tasting rooms, it is best to call ahead to confirm hours of operation. Some require tasting appointments. If there are more than 4 people in your party, definitely call ahead and make an appointment for a private tasting. 6|Page Copyright 2010 The Wine Riff www.WineRiff.com Martinelli Vineyards & Winery 3360 River Road Windsor, CA 95492 800.346.1627 http://www.martinelliwinery.com/index-2.html Winemaker Helen Turley has produced many award wining and highly prized wines for Martinelli Vineyards. Longboard Vineyards 5 Fitch Street Healdsburg, CA 95448 707.433.3473 http://www.longboardvineyards.com/home/ This has to be one of the most fun places to visit in Healdsburg. Owner/winemaker Oded Shakked is an avid surfer and it’s not uncommon for him to have videos and music going. Very cool wines too – Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. Tip #3: Although many tasting rooms have appetizers or finger food, be sure to grab a loaf of French bread or a Baggett, and maybe even some cheese from The Cheese Shop to take with you just in case. 11 | P a g e Copyright 2010 The Wine Riff www.WineRiff.com Seghesio Family Vineyards 14730 Grove Street Healdsburg, CA 95448 866.734.4374 http://www.seghesio.com/ The story goes back to 1886 when Edoardo Seghesio left his family’s vineyards in Piedmonte, Italy. Like so many immagrants, he landed in Northern Sonoma County. Today the family tradition continues and wines are still made from some of those vineyards planted in the 1800s. Great wines and some of the most down to earth people you’ll ever meet. Tip #4: If you do not have a designated driver, consider using a car service. For recommendations of the best car and limousine services, send an email to [email protected]. 12 | P a g e Copyright 2010 The Wine Riff www.WineRiff.com Stryker Sonoma 5110 Highway 128 Geyserville, CA 95441 800.433.1944 http://www.strykersonoma.com/default.aspx This “mailing-list-only” winery is a must to put on your list.
