I am as surprised as you are to find myself back in this position. The President elect for 2011 unexpectedly had to move out of state, and I was happy to agree to serve in his place when asked by the Board and our Executive Director. He left with a great message that deserves repeating. Midwest City is a great place to live, work and raise a family and, eventually, retire here. This has come through decades of great planning and hard work by many good people. Midwest City is kept safe by police and fire departments that are among the best in the nation. The school system is award winning and comprised of dedicated teachers and administrators enabling children to achieve great things through education. Midwest City is surrounded by great colleges and universities, including Rose State College which is growing rapidly and has a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and creation of a great learning environment for their students. They recently added an outstanding new health sciences center with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. Many Rose State students fill needed critical professional and technical positions in Midwest City as soon as they graduate. Midwest Regional Medical Center grew by 102 beds with a $25 million dollar project and is continually adding new physician practices in the City creating many new jobs. Our community partnership with Tinker Air Force Base is one of the most successful in the nation and is frequently admired and spoken about by Commanding Generals who serve here. We are all honored to support the Air Force and Navy missions to keep our Country safe. The exciting acquisition of the GM plant and creation of what is now “Tinker Aerospace Complex” has brought new life and the prospect of new jobs. More than 600 employees were moved to this location in 2010 and more than $22 million in renovations were made to focus on engine maintenance, sheet metal and machine shops. Many new jobs will be added over the next few years. Midwest City is a great church community with many denominations offering opportunities to support and serve your family. Parks are well utilized and being expanded by the City. Shopping and retail continues to expand both on 29th Street and in other areas of the City providing great services, restaurants, shopping and banking outlets. There are attractive opportunities throughout the City to open successful businesses to meet the needs of the citizens. The Chamber of Commerce and the City of Midwest City plan to work very hard to continue the tradition to move Midwest City forward and to support the Chamber Members in their efforts to grow and be successful. As President/CEO of Tinker Federal Credit Union, and a proud supporter of this Chamber and community, I thank you for your interest and involvement in the continued growth and success of Midwest City. Sincerely, Michael D. Kloiber 2011 Chamber Board President Page 5 “Midwest City Oklahoma, We’ve Got It All!” Washington, DC Trip Midwest City Chamber of Commerce representatives will visit Washington, DC June 20-22, 2011.
