gynaecologist,
locals aghast

Srinagar, May 3: People in
Uri area of Baramulla district are aghast over the ‘premature’ transfer of lone gynaecologist from Sub District
Hospital there, saying the
doctor’s departure within
eight months without any
replacement to the hospital
has left them in the lurch.
A delegation from the
area led by Muhammad
Jabbar said the hospital is
functioning without gynaecologist for past one week,
putting the lives of patients
at risk.
“Not a single delivery
case has been registered in
the hospital since the transfer of the doctor,” they said.
“We had a gynaecologist there but she was transferred to JLNM Srinagar
even before completing eight
months in the SDH Uri,”
they added.
Locals said the only
available anaesthetist in the
hospital is also being transferred without any replacement.
They demanded immediate replacement of the gynaecologist and threatened to
take to streets if a gynaecologist was not made available
to the hospital.

transferred by the government. “Dr Leeza belongs
to Srinagar and she was
transferred back within
eight months. We have also
received the orders for the
transfer of anaesthetist,” Dr
Farooq said.

Keep eye on activities of
separatists: MHA to JK govt
Srinagar, May 3: The Ministry of
Home Affairs (MHA) has issued a
fresh advisory to the Jammu and
Kashmir government asking it to
keep a close watch on the activities of separatist leaders including Syed Ali Geelani.
An official of the ministry
from New Delhi told local news
portal KNS that on the directions
of Home Minister, Rajnath Singh,
the MHA in its fresh advisory has
asked the state home department
to keep close eye on the activities
of separatist leaders.
“MHA feels that separatist
leaders including Geelani are
determined to disturb the peace
in Jammu and Kashmir and the
unity and integrity of the country.
The MHA has asked the JK home
department to put the activities
of Hurriyat leaders under surveillance and take legal action
against the separatist in case of
any adverse activities,” he said.
“The MHA has also told the
state government to put in place a
proper system of surveillance on
their activities. As and when any-

Girl commits suicide in Baramulla
Srinagar, May 3: A girl from Boniyar committed suicide by hanging
herself at her home in Baramulla
district.
The 18-year-old girl (name

life by hanging herself at her home.
Police registered a case in this
regard and investigation has been
taken up.

Kashmir lashed out at state
government for inviting Bollywood to Kashmir, terming
it ‘promotion of vulgarity in
the area.’
Jama’at leaders including its chief, Muhammad
Abdullah Wani; general
secretary, Dr Fayaz Hamid;
Nazir Ahmad Raina and
others opposed the wooing
of Bollywood producers
and actors while addressing a daylong district level
annual convention at Manigam Environment Park here
in which thousands participated.
"It is strange that
80-year-old (Mufti Muhammad) Sayeed, as CM of the
land of Sheikhul Alam (R),
Makhdoom Sahib (R) and
other Awliya, is promoting vulgarity by inviting
Bollywood actors and
producers to Kashmir for
shooting films here and
least bothering about its
consequences," Dr Fayaz
said.
He also opposed settlement of West Pakistan refugees, separate townships for
Kashmiri pandits and new
recruitment policy, saying
that “they are likely to incur
bad results.”

Para medics
want deferring
of exams

Srinagar, May 3: The
final year students of various paramedical courses
whose annual examinations are starting from
22nd of this month have
appealed to the authorities to postpone the test
for a week to avoid clash
with Bachelor of Education (B Ed) exams.
Scores of students of
Multi Purpose Health
Worker (MPHW), laboratory assistants, medical assistants and other
streams after completing
their courses had admitted themselves in various
other courses including
B.Ed.
“We got admission
in 2012 and our 18 month
course was expected to
be completed in 2013, but
that never happened and
we were left with no other
choice than to admit in
other courses,” said a student. “Now after so many
months they have decided
to hold the exams, which
clashes with B.Ed. Our
only request to them is to
defer it by a week only,”
the students said.
“This will save career of
thousands of students,” they
said.
The paramedical diplomas earlier came under the
Nursing Council but after
the allegations of continued
delay in examinations the
Jammu Kashmir Paramedical Council (JKPMC) headed
by Principal Government
Medical College Srinagar
as its president was given
its control.

Srinagar, May 3: Glowing tributes were paid to Hazrat
Imam Ali (AS) on Sunday during a daylong function organized by Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association at Imambargah Zadibal in Shaher-e-Khaas here.
The Association chief patron, Moulana Imran Raza
Ansari presided over the function which started with the
recitation of verses of Holy Quran while several Naat Khawans presented Naats.
Thousands of people including students of Marif-ulUloom Islami, Jamia Imam Sadiq, scholars and others
attended the function.
Moulana Ansari threw light on the life of Hazrat Ali
(AS), urging the Muslims to follow the footsteps of this
illustrious companion of the most revered Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

sponsored Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship
Scheme (PMSSS) was a
‘conspiracy to dupe Kashmiri students.’
Addressing media persons in a local hotel here,
WPF chief, Khalid Tufail
said hundreds of Kashmiri families are under
mental stress as their wards
enrolled under PMSSS are
forced to vacate the institution campuses.
“We submitted a
detailed report to the Cen-
tral Government about the
loopholes in the PMSSS
and MOMA schemes which
have resulted in uncalled
for suffering to the students
from J&K but no action
seems to be on cards. Students must unite so as to
plead the case more strongly and ensure justice being
done,” he added.
