Families 57% Adults 53% Children 47% You can set an extra place at your table by: • Registering your food drive at www.thefoodbank.ca or by faxing the food drive registration form to 519-743-8965 • Making a cash donation online, visiting The Food Bank or by calling 519-743-5576 • Bringing a food donation to a food drive in your area or to a local grocery store, firehall or The Food Bank of Waterloo Region, 50 Alpine Court, Kitchener • Volunteering at the Food Bank, taking on supervisory roles within the warehouse, gaining leadership experience. Feature vendors: The Pampered Chef, PartyLite Gifts, Tupperware, Creative Memories, Epicure Selections, Mary Kay, Crockadoodle, Home Interiors and Gifts, Bug Lady Crafts and Spa Sensations. Volunteers such as Steve Gow and Jim Miehm picked up 184,934 lbs of food donations at grocery stores and fire halls last year. Your $ 5.00 admission includes 3 chances to take home one of the beautiful items donated by each vendor! It is wonderful to live in a prosperous and caring community that recognizes and supports residents who need assistance due to various circumstances arising in their lives. The Food Bank of Waterloo Region’s vision of “channeling our community’s energy so no one goes hungry” allows those able to contribute – to contribute and those requiring help – to receive help. There are many fun events happening in our community that will help The Food Bank: Sept. 27-29 Fall Home Show at Bingeman’s Oct. 5, 11-2,Kitchener Council’s Grillefest, Civic Square, Kitchener Did You Know? With your support we: • collected 2.75 million lbs of donated food from residents and the food industry (approximately $5.5 million worth of safe quality food!) • assisted over 24,000 residents with emergency food (families and individuals) - 47% were children. • met our budget targets and raised an additional $145,000 for our roof and kitchen renovations • we participated in a number of initiatives to seek longer term solutions including providing leadership to Waterloo Region Shares, an implementation committee with a goal to build a stronger food support network Oct. 6, 7:30-11:30 a.m. CHYM Free Family Breakfast, Waterloo City Centre Parking Lot Oct. 6, 7:00 p.m., Faith FM Thanksgiving Variety Concert, 519-575-9090. President’s Award to the Ontario Trillium Foundation The Ontario Trillium Foundation has been incredibly generous to us and other organizations in this community. We have taken some risks at The Food Bank - and with the support of The Ontario Trillium Foundation we have carved out new directions for the food bank community making a significant impact on families experiencing difficult times. Success of Trillium’s support initiated here locally and applied throughout Sothwestern Ontario is now unrolling right across the province. Whether we consider Trillium’s Regional support, provincial support, one time or multi-year funding, the investments made continue to impact our communities.
