Each day, Cindy wakes up happy to be
alive, living her life with purpose. Cindy
is the first individual with an intellectual
disability to receive this award.

White House on two occasions to
represent individuals with disabilities.
Cindy spent her childhood at the
Southern Wisconsin Center, the Staterun institution for individuals with
disabilities. Despite being told she
would never amount to anything, hold a
job or live independently, Cindy has
done each of these and more. At the
age of 26, Cindy left the institution and
started living in our community.
We are pleased to recognize Cindy as
our 30thth Annual Challenger Honoree.
Her dedication to individuals with
disabilities inspires each of us to make
our community a better place for all.
