Shelly, Diane, Abby, Kassi Cindy N.,Marilee and the Kitchen Staff Message from Cindy L. Last week my computer crashed. All the data in the computer is lost. One of the most important things missing is the addresses for the newsletter. We were able to find some addresses in residents’ files but this is not a complete list. If you know of someone who normally received the newsletter in the past and did not receive this one please give us their address information. Thank you for your patience. December Birthdays This month we had six birthdays, our biggest month by far. Augie, Mernie, Julian, Theresa, Lois M., and Anna all celebrate in December. Barb in the kitchen made this gorgeous cake. Everyone decided it was too cute to eat, but we did. All of our birthday folks were treated to a special birthday lunch on the 13th and given a gift certificate to the salon, a gift from Carrie and Waterford Senior Living. Kristy’s Korner I would first like to wish you and yours a Very Merry Christmas and a Joyous New Year. I am writing with a very special, personal request. December 2011 Directors Message I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the residents and families for such a great year. This year has brought us many new residents and families to add to our family here at WSL and the addition of the Memorial Garden has given us the opportunity to remember all of our past residents and reconnect with familie s that th we have missed. I also want nt to thank all of the residents and families who par participated in the Satisfaction Surveys. Your feed eedback is always welco elcome and gives me an idea of what we are excell celling at and where there is room for improvemen ment. Just remember that you don’t have have to wait till the next survey to give feedback or Door Decorating 2 suggestions, my door is always open. And another thank you. Thank you for your patience with the construction on the existing building and the new building. The existing kitchen is getting a walk-in walk refrigerator frigerator and freezer installed and should be completed by the end of the year. The new building is still on schedule to be finished by the end of June 2012. Staff Decorating Message from Cindy L New Neighbor Kristy’s Korner law was recently diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. She underwent extensive surgery at the My sister-in-law Mayo Clinic and will hopefully be returning home to continue whatever treatment her doctors feel will give he her the best chance of recovery. As the doctors told her, this is not curable but treatable. I hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday season and wish you a Happy New Year. Meghan What I hope to do is help my brother and sister sister-in-law law with some of their expenses. This may be a crazy idea, but I feel I need to do SOMETHING (other than the ongoi ongoing prayers which I also ask everyone for). I am beginning what I’m calling Kristy’s Can Brigade. ade. My idea is to collect alum aluminum inum cans, cash them in and give my brother the proceeds to use for a number of expenses they are incurring. I am asking if you would be willing to donate your aluminum cans for this purpose. If you are willing to help out, there are a couple of ways for me to get the cans: 1. You can bring them to Waterford Senior Living & just leave them on the front porch at the North West door. 2. If you have a lot of cans, just let me know and I can pick them up from your home or place of business. I understand I will need to collect a lot of cans to make a difference. This is not a onetime collection. I plan to collect until the need is no more. I feel ccompelled ompelled to at least try in order to help my family through this most difficult time. I thank you in advance for any help you can give. God Bless and Thank You. Kristy WSL is all decked out for the holidays. Come and see all of our beautiful decorations. Thanks to the St Thomas Boy Scouts and their families for helping us to “Deck the Halls”. We couldn’t couldn’ do it without them. Our decorations will stay up until January 3rd. 3 3 4 4
