Page 4 Packers Cindy and Marilee ready for the game. Most of us here were pretty excited about the Packers making the Super Bowl. We do have 1 Bears fan and 1 Steelers fan so they weren’t too happy about it. The rest of us were pretty happy with the outcome of the game. We all wore our Packer clothes or at least green and gold. We had Packer signs and banners hanging around to show our support. Unfortunately for her, our Steelers fan had to wear a Packer jersey after the loss but she took it in stride and wore it well. Maybe we’ll convert her yet. Go Packers! Waterford Senior Living ~ 301 S. Congratulations Shelly. Birthday Lunch Waterford Senior Living As this is being written, the sun is shining, snow is melting, and can it be??? I think I actually see green grass! This is so exciting, but it also reminds me of mud, dirt and filthy carpets. Never fear. We are continuing our rotation of carpet cleanings that we started last year. I will remind our residents a few days before your carpet is to be cleaned, then all you February 2011 Birthdays for February • 2/13 Mary B. • 2/17 Ethel S. Barb from the kitchen made a gorgeous cake. The residents were also given a gift certificate to the salon for a wash, cut and set for the ladies and a haircut for the men. A gift from WSL and Carrie the beautician. Happy Birthday! Kristy’s Korner Waterford Senior Living will be at the Waterford Area Home & Commerce Show on Saturday March 12th from 9am-4pm at the high school. Come and check out all of the area businesses and there will also be speakers throughout the day talking about all sorts of home improvement ideas and other topics. Once flyers are available, I will have them at our front counter for details. See you there! Meghan Volume 5, Issue 2 need to do is stay off of the carpet until it is completely dry (usually 5-6 hours). If a family member would rather take a resident out for a while, that works too. The next scheduled cleaning is for apartments 200-207 plus Apt 300 on Friday, February 25th beginning at 8:30am. If you have any questions regarding the carpet cleaning, just let me know. The snow arrived with a vengeance for all of Feb 1, 2 and 3. People stayed and worked extra shifts because the next shift couldn’t get here and others came early and slept here so they could work their shift. One employee walked in to cook breakfast because the cook couldn’t get here on Wed morning and another kitchen employee walked in with her husband blazing a trail so she could cook lunch/dinner. 2 other employees trucked in so they could shovel out our doors. The snow was up over some windows and residents spent days not being able to see out. But we were all nestled and snugged in and ready for anything. It brought back memories of snow storms when we were much younger and being snowed in for days. The residents all agreed that they were happy not to have to shovel this snow. • 2/22 JohnO. • 2/24 Marie Y. • 2/28 Marilyn S. To get warmed up, residents won Valentinethemed Bingo prizes, winning off of homemade "LOVE" and "SNOW" Bingo cards. When dancing time ensued, the residents wiggled to the dance floor. Peter, a high school volunteer, offered residents punch, heart cookies, 'snow balls,' mini cream puffs, and chocolate éclairs, prepared by our baker, Barb. Amelie and I took on the role of DJs, playing classics like Lawrence Welk tunes, songs by Benny Goodman, and Frank Sinatra favorites. Peter, Amelie, Leah, and I all took turns on the dance floor, while offering dances to the residents. Few residents danced, but most were happy simply swaying to the music, clapping their pon poms to polka beats, and recalling fond memories of their younger years. A special thanks to all who helped make the Snow Ball possible and helped make it the best dance Waterford Senior Living has had thus far!! Anita Page 3
