A stalwart of Austin indie rock and one of the city's most highly regarded songwriters, Aaron Sinclair has teamed up with Dangerbird Records for the
national release of the new album ‘Pretty Girls’ under the moniker A. Sinclair.
The 10” vinyl EP arrives October 28 from Dangerbird, the label that launched Fitz and the Tantrums, Silversun Pickups, Sea Wolf and Royal Teeth.
A. Sinclair’s recent releases have drawn the attention of press around the country, intrigued by a sound that the Austin Chronicle described as "tensiondriven" with "tight, rough riffs and sharp post-punk lines." SPIN remarked on the underlying feeling of "twitchy paranoia" that permeates Sinclair's
songwriting, which Baeble Music described as having a "strung-out urgency."
Aaron Sinclair’s rock passport has a number of notable stamps: First Houston, his hometown, where he initially picked up a guitar with friends and
considered it to be a reasonable enough vehicle by which to leave. Then it was on to Boston, where Sinclair established himself in the mid-aughts as a
member of The Lot Six, the widely-beloved band that grew out of that city’s fertile Tarantulas punk scene, and with whom Sinclair crisscrossed the country
for 4 years, building a steady following on the East Coast until it was over in 2006.
Meanwhile, Sinclair made a name for himself with his own band Frank Smith, the vehicle through which he explored a rootsier sound while touring,
recording, and collaborating with friends like Juliana Hatfield, who released two of the band's albums on her own label.
Later that year, Sinclair made the decision to relocate to Austin in his home state of Texas and rebuild first his band and ultimately, himself. With a fresh
start, a new band name and a collection of songs that more than validate the impressive display of resolve, A. Sinclair's 'Pretty Girls' is the sound of an
artist crashing ahead, unafraid to dig in even harder on being great, even if it means blowing it all up first.
Paste praised A. Sinclair's ability “let the music speak for itself” with a sound that can only be described as “full-on rock," while the critics at the UK site
The Line of Best Fit were drawn to the combination of "massive guitars" and "boozy vocals," with "swagger, melody and timeless drive.”
A. Sinclair will celebrate the vinyl release with a hometown Austin show on October 30th at the Mohawk, and national tour dates will be announced in the
coming weeks.

Bigwig is a hardcore punk band from New Jersey, formed in 1995. They were originally composed of Josh Farrell (guitar), John Castaldo (bass), Tom
Petta (guitar/vocals), and Dan Rominski (drums).
Since their inception, they have been steadily gaining popularity, having played / toured with such bands as Pennywise, Less Than Jake, Blink-182, The
Ataris, The Vandals, New Found Glory, No Use for a Name, NOFX, The Suicide Machines, Agnostic Front, Lagwagon, and Reel Big Fish. Following the
release of their 2001 album Invitation To Tragedy' Both Josh Farrell and Tom Petta have received producers credits on several well known albums. Tom

Against the bleeding-heart backdrop of Times Square at the Novotel Hotel, The Drums announced they will be releasing their third full-length,
‘Encyclopedia.’ The album is due out in the U.S. on September 23, 2014.
Noisey surprised everyone by premiering the first single, “Magic Mountain” on July 15. In fact it was the first song The Drums have released in nearly 3
years, marking a return to the two founding core members of Jonny Pierce and Jacob Graham. Spin says “the new single is still guided by that infectious
head-bobbery, but the Brooklyn indie-popper's blithe bounce takes on a fervent frenzy.” Baeble noted the prevailing “sheen of gloom and apprehension,” a
departure that Paste says “stirs in sounds in all the right ways.”
‘Encyclopedia’ is The Drums’ third full-length album. Emerging from Brooklyn via Florida in 2009, they smashed on the scene with their ‘Summertime!’ EP
that led to a spot on the BBC Sound of 2010 shortlist, The ShockWaves NME Tour, and the publication’s Phillip Hall Radar Award.
The Drums‘ music often explores the themes of loss, nostalgia, redemption, vulnerability, and love – with critic’s raves embracing both the lyrics and their
sonic signature. This time around, they’ve embraced a darker sound while making it as grand and majestic as they please.
‘Encyclopedia’ is full of "magic and surprise while maintaining a serious, more weighty tone throughout," says Jonny. The upcoming LP marks the first
time since the ‘Summertime!’ EP that Jacob and Jonny were left to their own devices, without having to ask a soul for approval. The result is an exciting
display of personal emotion and unashamed, majestic songwriting style. In September, The Drums hit the road for the first time since the 2012.

Bessie Jones was one of the most popular performers on the 1960s and '70s folk circuit, appearing—usually at the helm of the Georgia Sea Island
Singers—at colleges, festivals, the Poor People's March on Washington, and Jimmy Carter's inauguration. "Get In Union" is a collection of her classic
recordings with the Singers, combined with many previously unavailable solo and small-group performances captured by Alan Lomax between 1959 and
1966.
Alan Lomax first visited the Georgia Sea Island of St. Simons in June of 1935 with folklorist Mary Elizabeth Barnicle and author Zora Neale Hurston.
There they met the remarkable Spiritual Singers Society of Coastal Georgia, as the group was then called, and recorded several hours of their songs and
dances for the Library of Congress. Returning 25 years later, Lomax found that the Singers were still active, and had been enriched by the addition of
Bessie Jones, a South Georgia native with a massive collection of songs going back to the slavery era. Over the next several years, Lomax and Jones
worked together to present, promote, and teach Southern black folk song across the country, from nightclubs to elementary schools. "Get In Union"
features freshly remastered audio from 24-bit digital transfers of Lomax's original tapes and notes by the Alan Lomax Archive's Nathan Salsburg and
Anna Lomax Wood, who accompanied her father on his 1960 recordings of Bessie Jones and the Georgia Sea Island Singers.

Sleaford Mods started out sometime during 2006 whilst Jason Williamson was living in Nottingham. Born out of part frustration and part accident, it quickly
found its feet as an aggressive verbal onslaught on all that is contrived and connected to the day-to-day hammer of low paid employment and domestic
siutations arising from that trap. After a year of working ideas out in both the studio and in live performances, Williamson moved south and took the cause
to London for a couple of years and trod the boards there for a couple of years, before returning to Nottingham in 2009.
Soon after that return he met Andrew Fearn and the Sleaford Mods became a duo. Fearn’s first work was on the production of “Wank” – the Mods’ fifth
CD album. Soon after that started stalking the stage and studio with Williamson. Andrew’s involvement meant that Jason was now able to stop creating
the samples and loops that littered the early recordings and concentrate on the lyrics, whilst Andrew created numerous tunes for Jason to vent his spleen
over.
Just after the release of “Wank” the duo were invited to play a three day festival curated by Nottingham’s Rammel Club. During that weekend a working
relationship with Nottingham’s abstract-punk Harbinger Sound label was formed. A relationship which – a year later – resulted in the release of the
“Austerity Dogs” vinyl album. This release would be followed by numerous shows around the UK and Europe, including further festival appearances. As
word- of-mouth praise for the album slowly spread out and onto the record-buying publics’ radar, “Austerity Dogs” soon sold out of its intial run of 300
copies and has gone one to, as of today, a fourth pressing of the vinyl edition and a CD version was also released. Rave reviews would start to appear in
magazines as diverse as The Wire and Uncut, along with interviews being published both on paper and on-line, both here and abroad. The album
featured, and topped, many writers polls for the best records of 2013.
Somewhere between punk, hiphop and spoken word lie UK duo Sleaford Mods. (They are neither mods, nor from Sleaford. They're from Nottingham.)
Jason Williamson spews a tapestry of bile over low-tech, muscular backing by Andrew Fearn, the result is somewhere between The Fall, McClusky,
Happy Mondays and John Cooper Clark. The pair have been making music for eight years now but really started to get attention with last year's terrific
Austerity Dogs and look to go even wider with the just released Divide and Exit. On it Sleaford Mods are in full rebellion mode. Williamson hold equal
contempt for the rich, conservatives, liberals, phonies in general, idiots, "jolly fuckers," etc all via a nonstop torrent of brilliantly, hilariously profane lyrics.
At the end of October Ipecac Recordings will be introducing the coolest thing to come out of the UK in a long time. With the release of a compilation from
Sleaford Mods titled CHUBBED UP+. Sleaford Mods are a stripped down, political, electronic punk-hop band from working class Nottingham. This stuff is
real and it is spot on!

NO MERCY HISTORY:
The band started in 1982 and featured lead vocalist Keven Guercio, guitarist Mike Clark, bassist Ken Blakley later replaced by Ric "Rancid" Clayton (the
artist who designed the Suicidal Tendencies logo as well as the shirts on S.T.'s first album) and drummer Sal Troy. Guercio recorded a few demos and
the tracks on the Welcome to Venice (1985) compilation before leaving and moving to Jackson Hole, WY and was replaced by Suicidal Tendencies
vocalist Mike Muir. Muir signed them to his independent label "Suicidal Records".
In 1987 No Mercy released their first and only album Widespread Bloodshed Love Runs Red, and were about to record their second album with many
new songs already written but Clayton and Troy quit. Instead of recruiting new members, Muir decided to "merge" the two bands by having Clark join
Suicidal Tendencies.
Clark took over much of the songwriting duties for Suicidal, shifting its style more to a melodic thrash metal sound similar to No Mercy's and what would
have been No Mercy's second album became Suicidal Tendencies' third album, How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today.

Americana is a title that echoes loudly through Italian culture as it was originally the title of a controversial literary anthology, edited by Elio Vittorini in the
1940s. The collection included 33 American writers (dating from the early 1800s to the 1930s), all translated by well-known Italian writers and intellectuals,
including Cesare Pavese, Eugenio Montale and Alberto Moravia. At the time, Vittorini was unable to publish Americana exactly as he wanted it, as Italy’s
pre-war fascist regime refused to tolerate open displays of affection for any foreign cultures other than Germany. Despite such coercion, many Italian
intellectuals (including a very young Fernanda Pivano) had shown an interest and actively participated in underground translations of American literature
from as early as the 1930s. And, inevitably, Pavese and Vittorini were looked up to as leaders.
Curiously, though, neither of these writers had ever visited America in person. So their experience of the New World was filtered through the words of
these writers, a fact that naturally made the country seem even more exciting and legendary.
Like these past Italian intellectuals, Guano Padano has also fallen under the primitive spell of these American authors and the books they published
nearly a century ago. Just like them, they too cannot hide either their admiration and awe of these giants from this mysterious land beyond the Pillars of
Hercules. And this admiration is intensified by their love and respect for the Italian intellectuals who defied the fascist state by bringing American literature
into Italian culture through their reading, translating and writing (as Pavese wrote in an article in 19472). A move that both betrayed the current fascist
culture and helped found the cultural renaissance that was to come.
It follows from all this, that the silent guides of Americana’s music are its texts. These words and verses have been stitched together into a musical
tapestry that contains all the dark, vibrant colours, characters and landscapes of these books. From the cacti and bloodstained plains of Pavese’s La luna
e i falò (The Moon and Bonfires) to the dusty, deserted flatlands and errant knights of Steinbeck’s Tortilla Flat, and across I mari del Sud (South Seas)
with their giant, white-clad sailors who continue to weather these waters without ever having the time to savour and to know them. This music has felt the
dust that covers the shoulders of Hemingway’s characters. It has suffered the same hunger and experienced the same rage as the black boy, Richard
Wright, and followed the hoofprints and scent of Saroyan’s white beast and the wild spotted horses of Faulkner’s early stories. It has dreamed of farms
and rabbits with Of Mice and Men’s George and Lenny, endured the homeless roaming of John Fante’s wop emigrants, experienced the life force
encapsulated in the epitaphs of Spoon River and heard the deep, rich energy of black spirituals in the pages of Sherwood Anderson’s Ohio.
These are the worlds that Guano Padano seeks to capture in its music. It is a vision of a primitive, yet virginal America, that is both fertile and a waste
land, and where boundless plains melt into the lurid suburbs of alcoholic towns. This is a land of karstic rivers: a land where the air is full of the scent of
dirt and sweat and railroads and freedom.
