Principal’s Message
In the month of March every school in the Peterborough Victoria
Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board will be learning,
praying and talking about the Fruit of the Holy Spirit called Self-Control. We
are blessed with free will and with that freedom comes an enormous
responsibility. Although this will is endowed to us, it is not ours alone to do
with as we please. We are called to do what the Lord wills to be done and not
act impulsively on our personal desires. If we teach and model moderation, then
our students will learn responsibility and self control through our example.
February has been a very busy and event filled month at Good Shepherd
Catholic Elementary School. We have put the final touches on the audio and
video refresh in the gym. We have started our Lenten observance and as of the
beginning of March we have been out for all our recesses. This is truly a
blessing.
March also marks the beginning of our online payment system campaign. This
system, once completely up and running, will be a wonderful support of all of
us.
The payment system is “open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week so
parents can pay for trips, lunches, etc at anytime and at their
convenience. You could even complete payments at 2 AM (if you
were up at that time).
• No more need for exact change to pay for pizza lunches or class trips.
• Your children will not have to carry money to school and will not
forget to submit the forms and money to the teachers. You will never
have to worry about finding the hot lunch envelop at the bottom of
their school bag.
• If you have children at different schools within PVNC (eg. Good
Shepherd and Holy Trinty) you can register and pay for events from
both schools on the same system.
• Less cash in the school making it safer for all.
• Less counting for our amazing secretary, Mrs. Nickle.
Please register your family today. For further information and the website
address please refer to the fourth page of our newsletter.

Good News from the PVNCCDSB Office of Faith Development
In the month of March, the Liturgical Season of Lent continues until Easter. Easter varies from year
to year. In the year 2015, Easter falls on April 5th. The Liturgical Colour during Lent is purple. In
accordance with the practice of the Roman Catholic Church, the school will abstain from meat on
the Fridays of the Season of Lent. (February 18 to April 4, 2015)
"Lent comes providentially to reawaken us, to shake us from our lethargy." ~ Pope Francis
Every school in the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School
Board during the month of March will be learning, praying and talking about the Fruit of the Holy
Spirit called Self-Control. We are blessed with free will and with that freedom comes our responsibility for the Common Good. Although this will is endowed to us, it is not ours alone to do with as we
please. We are called to do what the Lord wills to be done to bring about the reign of God on
earth. In our parishes, schools and homes, let us teach and model moderation through prayer, fasting and alms-giving so that our students will learn self control through our Lenten practice.

We appreciate the fact that our Board electricians Mike and Trevor were
able to come down to the school and put the finishing touches on the AudioVisual refresh in the gym. We also want to thank our Catholic School
Council for their support.
