alpole Brands of Tomorrow helps nurture
and support the UK’s finest talent within
the luxury sector. Launched in 2007, the bespoke
mentorship and coaching programme helps aspiring
British luxury brands of the future to fulfil their
potential and become global leaders in their field.
Supported by Mishcon de Reya, our programme
takes selected companies through a cycle of
quarterly educational workshops on areas, such
as business planning, marketing, distribution and
internationalisation, and one-to-one mentorship
meetings with some of the UK’s most experienced
luxury entrepreneurs.

About Walpole

alpole is a non-profit making organisation that
furthers the interests of the British luxury industry by
harnessing and sharing the collective knowledge, experience
and resources of the membership – over 180 British luxury
brands committed to combining the best aspects of innovation,
design, quality, tradition and service.
Formed in 1990 by top-tier British companies, including
British Airways, Chewton Glen, Coutts, DAKS Simpson, the
Financial Times, The Savoy Group and William Grant & Sons,
the membership provides a community for the exchange of
best-practice ideas, to drive business development in both the
UK and export markets.
Programme criteria
I
n order to be eligible for the programme, selected companies
need to exemplify the highest standards of quality, style
and craftsmanship and aspire to develop into full Walpole
members. The key criteria include:
• Annual turnover of more than £100,000 but no more
than £2million
• An entrepreneurial management style
• A clear vision of the future of the brand
• Commitment to a two-way partnership in the programme,
which will include active participation and regular
constructive feedback with the Walpole mentors.

Fighters Charity. Elvis & Kresse have been working
with British wastes since 2005, and more than 10 waste
streams are used to create their range of bags, belts
and wallets. They are constantly searching for more
materials to reclaim and have saved over 150 tonnes
from landfill. The advantage of vintage materials is that
each handcrafted piece has a unique narrative and is

Emmett London
Emmett London was
founded in 1992 by
tailor Robert Emmett. Opening his first store on
Chelsea’s King's Road, Robert Emmett swiftly rose
to prominence and began establishing himself as the
premier shirt maker of choice. The opening of the
second Jermyn Street store was seen as an important
step in further establishing the Emmett London
brand. Since then, Emmett London has been steadily
unfolding as a modern British approach to the Jermyn
Street shirt-making tradition.

Zoe Jordan
The eponymous
luxury apparel brand Zoë Jordan, was launched with a
mission to create the modern woman’s essential capsule
collection. Zoë Jordan’s design philosophy overlooks
trends, rather placing a sharp focus on clean lines,
ultra-refined silhouettes and the perfect fit. Fabrics are
sourced from the finest mills in Italy and France and
tonal colour palettes are designed to enhance and flatter.
Integral to the brands DNA is the coming together
of the androgynous and the feminine, handsome and

Mr. Hare
Mr. Hare is a men’s luxury shoe brand of
the modern age. It was founded by Marc
Hare in late 2008, because he simply could
not find the kind of shoes he wanted
to wear anywhere else. Mr. Hare shoes are elegantly

quality details. Described as a ‘Black Shoe Company’,

Otis Batterbee
London
Otis Batterbee is a British men’s
accessories brand based in London that was founded
by the designer Otis Batterbee. Inspired by his family’s
rich history in design and fashion, Otis trained at the
prestigious Central Saint Martins School of Art
and Design in London. In 2008, he launched Otis
Batterbee London. Designed and made in England, its
products range from smart wash bags and grooming
accessories, fine pocket squares and fabric-covered
cufflinks, to lavender-filled eyemasks and travel
cushions for the seasoned traveller. Quality construction,

Osman
Yousefzada
Osman Yousefzada, in a short space of time, has already
created a distinctive and confident signature for his
label. By combining innovative cutting with masterful
drapery, he crafts desirable timeless garments in the
most luxurious fabrics. Osman designs through instinct,
his pieces reflecting a deep-rooted design sensibility.
British-born Osman was making clothes from a young
age. His mother, who ran a couture dress-making
business in Birmingham, is where he cemented his
love for cloth and its workmanship. He went on to
study Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins before
launching his own label in February 2006.
Osman was nominated for the annual Designs of the
Year 2007 award at the Design Museum, which features
the best 100 designs internationally. He recently saw
the V&A select his work for the Fashion in Motion
Trunk Clothiers
Trunk Clothiers is an
independent neighbourhood shop
founded by Mats Klingberg that
launched in London’s Marylebone
in September 2010. Trunk features a sharply edited

beyond. It focuses on being a good men’s retailer in the

BASSO & BROOKE
Bruno Basso and Christopher Brooke
are the pioneers of the digital print
process in fashion. They made history
with their groundbreaking 100% digitally printed
collection, earning them the prestigious Fashion Fringe
award in 2004. Vogue championed them as ones to
watch in their annual Vogue List, and they won best
new designer at the Elle Style Awards. In May 2009,
Michelle Obama made headlines by wearing one of
the label’s pieces, making them one of the very first
UK designers to be worn by the First Lady. Again in
2009, London’s Design Museum short-listed the label’s
Spring/Summer 2009 collection for Designs of the Year.
They also have a piece archived in the New York’s

Luxury accessories designer Charlotte
Olympia Dellal launched her Londonbased shoe brand Charlotte Olympia in
February 2007.
Charlotte Olympia designs have become synonymous

of Hollywood glamour of old, Charlotte Olympia’s

Europe, the US and Asia. Most
recently Bremont was awarded
'Watch of the Year 2012' at

journalistic years at Consumers’

Which? magazine, where, as a
writer, she was awarded the first
Rosemary Goodchild Award in

Design, Sarah
Elton joined
Smythson of
Bond Street in 1991. Appointed
Managing Director two years
later at the age of 29, Sarah
started the expansion of
Smythson out of Bond Street,
first through concessions, then
new stores, including a flagship
in New York and an online
store. Under her management,
new product groups such as
handbags, and the Fashion
Diary were introduced, so that
Smythson managed to attract
the young and fashionable again
while retaining the cachet and

Pamela Harper
Chairman of Halcyon Days and
Founder of The Library Group
Pamela Harper
is one of the
luxury industry’s
most experienced
operators, with
a 30-year career
spanning major brands such
as Burberry, Escada, Hermès,
Alfred Dunhill and Jaeger. At
Burberry, Pamela was a key
member of Rose Marie Bravo’s
team and played a major role
in the initial turnaround of the
brand. In a 10-year tenure as
Global Senior Vice-President
of Accessories and Footwear,
she spent over six of those years
establishing Burberry as a major
global player in accessories.
Pamela is currently working with
a number of brands in the luxury
accessories and lifestyle sector,
most notably as Chairman of
Halcyon Days and as a Strategic
Advisor to Myla. She has also
established the Library Group
which distributes brands in the
UK, Turkey and India. In 2009,
Pamela founded The Library
Group which advises brands on
the global luxury accessories and

Guy Salter

Guy Salter is a
luxury expert,
manager and
investor. Guy got
his grounding
in retailing
and brand development at the
Arcadia Group. From there he
went to work for HRH The
Prince of Wales as Assistant
Private Secretary for Industry and
Commerce, where, amongst other
things, he started Duchy Originals
and was awarded an MVO. His
entry into the luxury industry
came with his appointment as
Managing Director of LaurentPerrier. Subsequently, Guy
went on to manage the Asprey
& Garrard Group and, at a later
date, acquired and ran Tanner
Krolle. His first spell in private
equity was with Ripplewood
where he specialised in luxury,
fashion and consumer goods.
This has continued with RHJ
International and others and he
is now an active investor in a
number of luxury-related and
technology businesses. In addition,
Guy is partner in Nyetimber,
England’s leading sparkling wine
producer. Apart from Walpole,
his pro bono work includes
founding Crafted, a mentorship
programme for luxury craftsmen,
and being official spokesman for
the European luxury industry
through the newly-formed
alliance between Walpole,
