About amfAR
amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, is dedicated to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic
through innovative research.
With the freedom and flexibility to respond quickly to emerging areas of scientific promise,
amfAR plays a catalytic role in accelerating the pace of HIV/AIDS research and achieving
real breakthroughs. amfAR-funded research has increased our understanding of HIV and has
helped lay the groundwork for major advances in the treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS.
Since 1985, amfAR has invested more than $366 million in its mission and has awarded grants
to more than 2,000 research teams worldwide.
About generationCURE
In the fall of 2011, a small group of young professionals from the fields of finance, art, media,
and entertainment came together to form generationCURE: a committee of young people
dedicated to helping amfAR accelerate its search for a cure for HIV/AIDS by grooming the
next, and hopefully the last, generation of HIV/AIDS champions. Since 2012, the committee
has raised more than $90,000 toward their $150,000 goal—the cost of a new, cure-focused
research project—through fundraising events on both coasts.
About our supporters
generationCURE events attract successful young professionals who “socialize with a
conscience,” a highly desirable demographic. Each of our events is attended by 200 guests
from a wide variety of industries, among them fashion, finance, media, law, and entertainment.
Research shows that an association with leading nonprofit organizations such as amfAR makes
good business sense. A Cone Corporate Citizenship study has shown that eight out of 10
Americans say that corporate support of good causes wins their trust in a company.
• 85% of generationCURE supporters are between 25-35 years old
• 90% of generationCURE supporters have received a Bachelor’s degree or higher

generationCURE Kick Off
In the fall of 2011, a small group of young professionals from the fields of finance, art, and entertainment
came together to form generationCURE—a committee of young people dedicated to helping amfAR
accelerate its search for a cure for HIV/AIDS. On March 21, 2012, more than 100 attendees met at The
Bubble Lounge Tribeca in New York City to help amfAR kick off the generationCURE event series. Guests
joined amfAR Trustee Regan Hofmann and the reigning Miss Universe, Leila Lopes, for cocktails and music
spun by a live DJ to jump start this new amfAR initiative.
In May 2013, generationCURE held its Los Angeles Kickoff party in West Hollywood. generationCURE
celebrity ambassador Kelly Osbourne joined 150 guests to raise over $17,000 for amfAR’s cure research.
In addition to funding innovative research, generationCURE aims to increase HIV awareness among young
people and to cultivate the next, and last, generation of amfAR champions for a cure.
generationCURE Solstice
Each June, amfAR’s generationCURE holds a rooftop event to celebrate the summer solstice. The inaugural
2012 Solstice event took place on the roof of the Hotel Americano in New York City. More than 150 young
professionals gathered to socialize with a conscience, enjoying cocktails, an auction, and breathtaking
views of the city from the Americano’s rooftop in West Chelsea. With the help of sponsorship from AriZona
Beverages and Ford Models, the evening raised $25,000.
The 2013 Solstice party took place on STK’s rooftop in the Meatpacking District of Manhattan. The 200
guests enjoyed specialty cocktails, compliments of Tequila Avión, hors d’oeuvres, spectacular city views, a
live DJ, and auction items from Michael Kors, the NFL, John Varvatos, and many more. The evening raised
$24,000. To date, generationCURE has raised nearly $100,000 towards its $150,000 goal for amfAR’s
innovative, cure-focused research.
generationCURE Masquerade
In October 2012, amfAR’s generationCURE held its first annual Halloween-themed fundraising event,
Masquerade, at The Box in New York City. Nearly 200 young professionals donned masks to support
generationCURE’s goal of raising $150,000 to fund new, cure-focused research.
Guests enjoyed a hosted bar and a dazzling performance from local singing sensation Kelly King. With the
help of sponsorship from Here Media, Ford Models, Legend of Kremlin vodka, and Gas Bijoux, as well as a
generous matching grant from the Joseph F. McCrindle Foundation, the event raised more than $19,000.

amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, is dedicated to ending
the global AIDS epidemic through innovative research. Since its
founding in 1985, amfAR has accelerated the pace of HIV/AIDS
research and contributed to numerous breakthroughs that are
extending and saving lives around the world.
amfAR identifies critical gaps in our knowledge of HIV/AIDS and supports
promising early-stage studies that often lack the preliminary data required
by more traditional funders.
Through its Research program, amfAR is advancing efforts to prevent HIV infection in those who
are vulnerable and to improve treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS, with the ultimate goal of
eradicating the virus.
amfAR’s TREAT Asia program is a network of clinics, hospitals, and research institutions working
with civil society to ensure the safe and effective delivery of HIV/AIDS treatments throughout
Asia and the Pacific. TREAT Asia has become a model for regional collaboration on treatment
preparedness, education, training, and clinical research.
The GMT Initiative (formerly the MSM Initiative) strives to reduce worldwide rates of HIV
infection among gay men, other men who have sex with men (MSM), and transgender individuals
(collectively GMT) in developing countries by providing small grants to grassroots groups that
help expand HIV education and prevention. The GMT Initiative also works to build understanding
and awareness of HIV epidemics among GMT, and advocates for effective policies and increased
funding.
Informed by thorough research and analysis, amfAR is a highly respected advocate of rational and
compassionate AIDS-related public policy. The Foundation’s Public Policy program is engaged
in efforts to increase investments in HIV/AIDS research; ensure a robust response to the global
epidemic; expand access to prevention, treatment, and care; and protect the civil rights of all
people affected by HIV/AIDS.
Through its Public Information program, amfAR generates awareness of the need for better
treatment and prevention methods, and publishes educational materials on important AIDSrelated research, treatment, prevention, and policy issues. As a respected voice on HIV/AIDS,
amfAR frequently provides media commentary on research developments and other aspects of the
epidemic.
