FOCUS ON THE MISSION
“There are so many things to do.” “We have so li le me.” How many varia ons of these
statements have you heard or even said yourself?
Actually neither statement is completely true. There are many things to do in this life, but
really few things that are vitally important. Working, searching, conniving, and worrying our way to
“gra fy[ing] the desires of the flesh,” as Paul relates in today’s second reading, are really nonproduc ve. So li le me? When we take on the freedom that Christ offers us, we have all the me
we need in this world, and even more in the next.
Elisha, the prophet Elijah’s chosen servant, was slightly befuddled about what he should do. When Elijah called, he
returned to bid farewell to his parents and provide food for his people. Only then did he follow.
Jesus demands something different, something more of his disciples. He calls us to a single-minded determina on
to drop everything and follow him. Now, not later.

Mission Statement
As a community of believers, we center our life and faith on the Eucharist, through which we
are nurtured, nourished, sustained and transformed into faithful witnesses and
disciples of Christ.
Immaculate Heart of Mary distributed Good Shepherd prayer cards to all adult men,
Saturday and Sunday, June 18th and 19th, in honor of Father’s Day. Each card had a special
prayer for vocations, personally selected by our pastor, Father Joseph Bui.
Please say this prayer for all fathers to be, dads and grandfathers, and include all men
discerning a vocation to the priesthood and religious life.
Prayer for the Church
We pray Thee, Almighty and Eternal God, Who through Jesus Christ hast revealed Thy
glory to all nations, to preserve the works of Thy Mercy, that Thy Church, being spread
through the whole world, may continue with unchanging faith in the confession of Thy
Name, through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen.

WELCOME NEW PARISHIONERS AND VISITORS
We would like to extend a warm welcome to all those
who are visi ng our parish for the first me. If you are
new to the area and are looking for a parish to call home,
we would love to have you join us. In the pews are welcome envelopes, return the envelope in the offertory or
stop by the parish office during the week.
If you are leaving the parish, please call the parish office.
FOOD PANTRY
Many of the people who come to our food pantry have
never thought they would be in a line wai ng for food.
Some of our clients are new to our area and looking for
work, some have an illness that prevents them from having steady work and some are care givers for other family
members who are going through a rough me. The one
thing they all have in common is their need of our help.
We do not judge them, we have not been where they are
or have been, but we do make a difference in their lives
and could not do it without the loyal support of our parish
family. Every jar of peanut bu er and jelly, beans, soup,
fruit, meat or other food is going to someone who has
asked for our help. It may seem like a small thing to bring
food to Church and put it in the baskets or shelves provided, but it is vital to our mission to serve the poor, especially in this year of mercy. Thank you for con nued generosity!!
