Residents Move into Recently Completed Monmouth County
Group Homes in Tinton Falls and Freehold
Freehold
After AMIB completed renovations to the newly
acquired group home in Freehold in November
2015, Nick and Robert (above) moved into the
home in December. Transitioning and living in
their new community has been a little overwhelming for the men, as they both spent 20 plus years in
the Woodbine Developmental Center. However,
both are settling in well. They picked out their new
bedrooms, new clothing and bedding accessories.
The residential specialists at AMIB continue to
help them acclimate and provide a quality of life
for them that is filled with different activities
including shopping, singing, dancing, cooking,
eating and smiling.
Renovations to the Tinton
Falls group home were
completed in September,
and three men, also from
the Woodbine
Developmental Center,
right, moved into the home
in October. They, too, are
transitioning well.
They are, from left: Rene,
Raymond and Michael.

Tinton Falls
From the President
From the Executive Director
Dear Friend,
Thanks to your generosity, thoughtfulness and caring,
AMIB has completed renovations to
the two new group
homes in our
Monmouth II
Project (Tinton
Falls and Freehold).
We are now in the process of completing the transfer of blind/visually
impaired adults, who have other multiple impairments, from developmental
centers in New Jersey into their new,
family-oriented, caring environment.
On behalf of the board of trustees,
we want to once again thank you for
meeting our anonymous donor’s challenge last fall.
We also want to extend our gratitude to you for so generously responding to our year-end appeal which has
made it possible for us to purchase a
wheelchair-accessible vehicle so that
our Freehold group-home residents,
who have physical limitations in addition to their visual and other multiple
impairments, can be driven to their
day programs, community activities
and/or medical appointments.
We are forever grateful for your
generous participation and for making
a difference in the quality of life of
those we serve by allowing us to help
them live their lives with as much dignity and independence as possible.
Kenneth P. Carson
Greetings, I hope
this finds you doing
well. Though this
past winter was relatively mild for central Jersey, we did
experience strong
windy days and
thick heavy snow in
January.
Thanks to all
those who supported our generator initiative to install back-up generators in
all of our group homes after Hurricane
Sandy.
We were tested this winter in some
of our Ocean County group homes.
Fortunately the generators kicked on
after power went down in the area, and
the individuals and staff benefited
from uninterrupted services in the
comfort of their of home.
I am also excited to share that we
opened our 11th and 12th group
homes. The first is in Tinton Falls and
the second in Freehold Township.
They are featured on the front page of
this newsletter.
We are now serving 58 individuals
with 24/7 community living assistance
throughout Ocean and Monmouth
Counties.
Stay tuned to our Facebook page to
get AMIB’s latest developments and
news.
We look forward to the opportunities ahead, and will keep you posted
on our progress.
