The World is a very different place from what it was a few years ago and the fortunes of agriculture have fared better than many other parts of the Economy, which is, at least, encouraging. Apart from being a showcase for farming and the wider local economy the Show is a ‘day out’, and we hope you will all have a good time. WELCOME ON BEHALF OF THE PRESIDENT Jim Peet For many years I have been a strong follower of the Skelton Show, and when I was asked to be Show President I was delighted to represent the show from the exhibitors. My first recollection of Skelton Show was watching an exhibition of ‘bullock riding’ and ‘shovel racing’. It could have been named the ‘Skelton Wild West Show’ about 1960 – probably before the Health and Safety Invention! We all look forward to a great feast of Food and Farming always found at the Skelton Show. May I wish the committee all the best for a fine day and congratulate them all on the courageous decision to move the date forward 7 weeks. 1 SPECIAL ATTRACTIONS for 2011 Petwise Mobile Zoo at the end of Ave A by the Main Gate from 11am An interactive display with lots of animals including rabbits, guinea pigs, poultry, African pygmy hedgehog, gopher/chinchilla, snakes, lizards, creepy crawlies, 4ft monitor lizard, tortoise/terrapins, skunk and either meerkats or a 12ft python. You will find a display in the main Marquee where members of the Community Action Committee will be pleased to discuss the issues raised For members of the above communities there is an opportunity to sign up to the various Focus Groups that are needed to take the actions forward. Are you interested in community facilities, young people, the natural and built environment, your neighbourhood, communication, business, housing and development, health and well being or transport and access? The Community Action Plan is designed to lead to some practical steps being taken to improve life within the local community. Come and join in The Community Action Plan is set within the political and economic uncertainties of 2011 and beyond – but at a time when the importance of local groups and initiatives are being stressed in for instance ‘the Big Society’. The Skelton Agricultural Show demonstrates the wealth of talent and resources that can be brought together to achieve “a great day out for all the family”. An army of Officers, Committee Members and Stewards organise a vast array of events which is now “The Big Village Show”. It is an example of what can be achieved and is a show case for the businesses in the area as well as an exceptional community event. Skelton Parish Community Action Committee. Reiki has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady, and always creates a beneficial effect. Caroline says “Reiki is so difficult to explain, but the results speak for themselves, when your animal is injured or ill this non invasive therapy can really help. Reiki is also fantastic for nerves before a competition or recovery after (for animal and owner!!) or even just as a relaxing treat for your animal after he has worked hard all day for you” To book an appointment or for more information please contact Caroline Brier Tel: 01768 881933 or 07811445622 www.carolinebrier.com 87 JUMPING (UNDER BRITISH SHOWJUMPING RULES) Judges: – Mrs L Strong & Ms J Buckley Course Designer: – Mr P Gardiner Time Judge: Ms M Riddle Commencing: 9.30am 419 Equissage Discovery Rule 314 (Under Table A7 Speed 325 mpm). 1st Rosette sponsored by Equissage 1st £30.00, 2nd £22.00, 3rd £18.00, 4th £14.00, 5th £14.00 Entry Fee £14.00 No.Horse 486 Jalousie Dream 487 Winter Willow 488 Sam I Am 489 Westerly 490 Lowhill Mac Ruffo 491 Sgt Pepper 492 Copelands 493 Air Jordan M 494 Hardrock Z 495 Sparkling Lux 496 Adrigo 497 Comashore 498 Barons Knight 499 Brown 500 Dolly Delight 501 Arcturist 502 Rock Angle 504 Murphy’s Acorn 505 Bulgain 506 Washington 507 Votermo 508 Go Man Go 509 Milenium Gold 510 Spirit of Destiny 511 Adalardo 512 Vorecky Silver 513 Pil Ou Face 514 Back in Black Owner Alison Frary Lauren Wood Rebecca Johnston Sally Skelton Chris Hutchinson Joanne Bowman Claire Halliday Melissa McCarron Melissa McCarron Lynn Montgomerie Andrea Bateson Victoria Baker Malcolm Mason Sue Farrell Kelly Shaw Julie Wylie Emily Archibald Vicky Bowman Mark Davidson Ms Gina Martlew John Thornton Malcolm Mason Karen Dunlop Shelby Brooke Stacey Beaty Nigel Springer Kirsty Hogg V Braithwaite Rider Alison Frary Lauren Wood Rebecca Johnston Sally Skelton Chris Hutchinson Joanne Bowman Claire Halliday Melissa McCarron Melissa McCarron Lynn Montgomerie Andrea Bateson Victoria Baker Malcolm Mason Sue Farrell Kelly Shaw Julie Wylie Emily Archibald Vicky Bowman Mark Davidson Stuart Graves John Thornton Caroline Charters William Dunlop Shelby Brooke Stacey Beaty Nichole Murray Kirsty Hogg Nigel Springer 420 EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers/1.10m Open Rule 312 for Registered Horses (Under Table A7 Speed 325 mpm).
