celebration have changed drastically.
We also celebrated a wonderful onam

a more colourful experience, and a
grand celebration.Onam celebration is

teams in the competition. The
competition started at 7.30 am and by
10.30 am on the veranda around the
college quadrangle turned to a visual
treat. The MA batch has won the first
prize for the competition.
The ‘Onapattu’ competition
was held in between. Gayathri and her
team of the fifth semester Multimedia
batch bagged the first place. After the
competitions the procession started
from the hostel. ‘Maveli’ joined
along with all the students and they
took steps of ‘pulikali’. This year the

a grand and stylized event.Later the

most number of participants for trying

dance, and also the games. On fourth of
September we started our celebrations
with the various competitions.
The ‘athappookkalam’
competition was held initially. The
word onam brings mainly two
words into our minds. One of them
The Maveli walked ahead
in front followed by the pretty girls
in Kerala saree and the cool boys in
different colourful attire. While the
third years stuck to the more authentic
white & white, the second years made
a difference with a touch of blue on
their dhotis! The procession entered
the college campus through the main
prizes.And unfortunately despite their
best effort no boys were able to break the pot.
The most awaited event of
the celebration was the ‘Vadam vali
competition ‘. The competition started
by about 2.00 pm. There were 7 teams.

A Visit To Sculptor Kanayi Kunjiraman
The lazy Monday mornings students
in BA VA S3 was greeted by the
announcement “ A visit to the
sculpture of Kanayi Kunjuriman in
the heart of akshara nagri, Kottayam.
All of us were excited and thrilled as
he walked into the gate of the public
library, where it is located. Looking at
the magnificent sculpture- we were at
loss of words, to describe the beauty,
the motherly beauty of love and
warmthness carved into a concrete
shape.
According to Mr. Kunjiraman,
his work incorporated the importance
of letters, culture and the values
imbibed within the family system.
The sculpture is meant to project an
idolism that brings the importance
of the mother tongue to the forefront
through his work.
I got a golden chance to
attend the interactive session with the
master sculptor Mr. Kunjiraman who
provided us with knowledge about
feminine importance and motherly
role in the family system.
It definitely takes a master
artist to manage creating such a
magnificent work. It was indeed a day
of visual miracle for us.
-Geena Sara Gigi.
“Prayer has strength, unbelievable indeed, that we come to
know only when we start praying “-Swami Chinmayananda
I feel immense pleasure to write
about our new college prayer because
I was lucky to have a chance to show
my part in it along with my senior,
Gayathri Sunil of BA MM S5 and Jilu,
a student of MVCC. I feel so thankful
to our faculty, Mr.Joby Varghese
for gifting us such a spiritually
rejuvanating prayer song.
Even though it was tiring to
go for recording after the class, we all
experienced how it magically turned
into a great feeling of togetherness and
hardwork because of the tremendous
support from our faculty, Mr.Kiran
Ben Michael.
The lyrics by T.V Illimootil,
Father of Mr. Tomy Thomas (Teacher
at MVCC) ,the music by Joby sir and
sound mixing by Kiran Sir brought
out a successful outcome. I feel so
proud when the prayer spreads all
around the campus and it makes my
day a blessed one.
