Explore one of Surrey’s unique historic churches. The Church and Rectory were
built in 1911 in the Tudor Revival style. The bell-tower was originally a river
beacon that served to guide riverboats safely up and down the Fraser River. Take a
tour of this historic building and church grounds, including the cemetery. Families
can participate in an activity book scavenger hunt. There will be demonstrations of
the bells and short organ recitals.

The first ever Whalley Corners Community Festival will be hosted by the
Downtown Surrey BIA, Whalley Community Association and the Whalley
Community Improvement Association. Find out how Whalley started and got its
name, what used to be in the neighbourhood, and see the changes through the
years. Tour some of the original buildings and be involved in the planning of future
projects. There will be entertainment for all and special activities for children.

This beautiful, historic church reflects Byzantine architecture and is a significant
cultural landmark place of worship. The interior has a wooden carved screen
adorned with icons, as well as beautiful hand embroidery work done in the Classic
manner. Take a guided tour and learn about the history and architectural features.
The Cultural Centre will feature an icon display, Ukrainian arts and crafts, and
costumes. Frozen Ukrainian food will be available for sale. Appropriate attire
required — no shorts or tank tops. Tours hourly.

Built as Surrey’s commitment to the 2010 Olympic Games, the Centre housed
hundreds of Olympic volunteers. This multi-generational facility is part of the
developing City Centre. Find out why the lobby and gallery were designed as a
unique glass, cube dome through a guided tour. Kids can have a great time playing
in the bouncy castle and gym. Youth will be able to check out the fun activities
in the youth lounge and the covered skate park. Free access to regular drop‑in
programs; 9:00 am – 11:30 am adult basketball, 12 noon – 1:00 pm adult yoga, and

The Surrey RCMP has had the pleasure of serving the people of the City of Surrey
for over 60 years. Children can dress in red serge to pose for photos with members

futuristic cruise ship and part Guggenheim-like art museum”. Explore many services and

in-depth look at the public art. City Hall: Within the building’s 6-story atrium,
the major artwork “Together” is suspended. The UK artists were inspired by the
collective behaviour of a flock of birds as a symbol of democracy. City Centre
Library: Architect Bing Thom’s City Centre Library is a sculpture in itself. View
artworks by one of Canada’s foremost sculptors, Liz Magor, and one of Canada’s
foremost painters, Gordon Smith. Holland Park: Explore the artwork in this 10-acre
green oasis. View the metal sculptures by artist Bruce Voyce, the pebble mosaics

We’ve been a staple of the historic Cloverdale community since 1976. The earliest
harness racing competitions were between ordinary farmers who had a natural
curiosity about whose horse could go the fastest. Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the
backstretch and meet the drivers, trainers, and horses that compete today. Watch the
BC Vintage Museum antique tractor pull. Cheer on your favourite team as the Fraser
Valley antique tractors and new garden tractors compete to win! Must be 19 years and

being restored. Free speeder rides will allow you to experience the thrill of riding

theatre. You’re invited to learn about the history of the firehall and view the “Larger

create warm and inviting spaces. Learn about the many waves and curves in this
uniquely shaped building and the interior artist who created the beautiful public art in
the lobby. As a community hub, we will host local groups including the Surrey Little
Theatre, Westwinds Community Church, Options Family Resources Programs and many

Alice McKay Building: The Barony of Lions Gate welcomes you to step back in time to
experience life in the Middle Ages. The Society for Creative Anachronism will re-create
the period from 600 to 1600 AD through songs, dance, demonstrations, and much more!
Shannon Hall Building: Learn about the rich history of the Cloverdale Rodeo that has
been running for 68 years and the Country Fair that has run for 126 years dating back to
the 1888 formation of the Lower Fraser Valley Exhibition Association. Who’s who in the
Cinemazoo? Get up close and have a hands‑on experience with a variety of animals.
This modern, vibrant university is a hub of research, teaching, and learning.
“A Look at Learning” will feature hands-on activities for all ages to explore the
trades and science: slime making, film canister rockets, and chromatography
flowers. There will also be demonstrations and tours.

the firefighters and see what it’s like to be a firefighter behind the scenes. Check out

Our renovated 1960s building was originally the Justice Centre, connected to the
jail house next door by a tunnel. Today, the library is a busy community hub, offering
programs for all ages and many great resources such as the Canadian Family History
Collection. Join us for a day of family fun which includes Summer Reading Club
registration, storytelling, crafts, skits, family history activities, and music.
