IN THE NEWS Ferrari F12tdf Makes Official Moving Debut The official video of the insane Ferrari F12tdf has just been released. Following on from the hardcore F12’s recent debut during Ferrari’s Mondiali event in Mugello, this official clip shows it sliding around the Fiorano test track and looking absolutely spectacular doing so. Powering the car is the same 6.3-litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine as the F12 Berlinetta. However, power has been significantly increased from 719 hp up to 770 hp at 8500 rpm. Meanwhile, torque has been bumped from 509 lb-ft to 520 lb-ft at 6750 rpm with 80 per cent of that peak torque figure available from 2500 rpm. (Brad Anderson) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miMiuPQAnhU Ferrari to be Listed on Italy’s Main Stock Exchange Not long after being listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol ‘RACE’, it has been confirmed that the automaker will also be listed on the main stock exchange in Italy. It isn’t yet known just how many Ferrari shares will be offered on the Italian stock exchange (Mercato Telematico Azionario) but it will just be the latest development in Ferrari’s ongoing separation from its parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. On the MTA, Ferrari will be named as Ferrari N.V and just like the listing on the NYSE, it will allow Fiat to raise additional money for the automaker. Well that’s exactly what we have in this latest video from car nut and rising YouTube star Alejandro Salomon. Yes, fresh from his Hyper 5 series, Salomon now has a new series dedicated to the Ferrari Special Series cars. We only have part one of the three-part series and in this initial clip Salomon takes us through the 288 GTO, F40 and F50. Each of the cars has a single owner: Californian businessman David Lee. The famous Ferrari collector presented his cars last year at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance where he also showed off one of the rarest cars in his collection, the 288 GTO Evoluzione of which just five examples exist.( Viknesh Vijayenthiran) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knh-nESEEHI For more information contact Craig Forbes (678) 802-5000 [email protected] December 4th, 2015 Ferrari Gets 2.5 Billion Euros in Funding MILAN (Reuters) - Luxury sports car maker Ferrari <RACE.N> has signed contracts to raise 2.5 billion euros in debt which will use in part to refinance debt owed to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles <FCHA.MI> as it moves towards separation from its parent company. Ferrari said on Monday it had agreed with a pool of 10 banks a 12-month bridge loan and a five-year term loan worth in total 2 billion euros ($2.11 billion). It has agreed also to a five-year revolving credit facility worth 500 million euros. Ferrari said the maturity of the bridge loan could be extended by another six months. The company plans to refinance it ahead of maturity with longer term debt, either by tapping markets or through other financing transactions. (Reporting by Francesca Landini, editing by Valentina Za) ($1 = 0.9458 euros) Ferrari & Haas Tie-in Cleared by FIA Ferrari and the new Haas team have been cleared of breaking rules restricting research and development. Mercedes had asked governing body the FIA for clarification on the rules governing aerodynamic testing and other ways of sharing information. Their questions came after widespread concerns Ferrari used their links with Haas to get around the restrictions. For more information contact Craig Forbes (678) 802-5000 [email protected] December 4th, 2015 The FIA ruled there was no evidence any team had broken the rules, but has also closed off any potential loopholes. The FIA conceded there were ambiguities in the regulations and has issued a series of clarifications outlining what is permitted. Among them is a statement that any competitor planning to enter F1 should be governed by the rules on design and development restrictions from the moment their entry is accepted. This has not been the case with Haas, who have benefited from unrestricted development during their preparations for F1 entry next year. Mercedes and other teams' concerns centered on this anomaly - there were suspicions that Ferrari had been using time in their wind tunnel that was nominally for Haas to do work on their own car. However, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff said: "I am comfortable with the outcome because it gives us clarity and that was the main purpose of the exercise. "If they gained an advantage by interpreting the rules as they did, then, 'chapeau' and they deserve that." The FIA ruled that "there is no evidence that competitors have not complied with the requirements" of the relevant rules. The rules govern time in the wind tunnel, data restrictions on computer design, and so-called "listed parts", which are parts of the car that a team must design themselves. These include the monocoque and all aerodynamic surfaces. On December 10 the new partnership will stage its inaugural Driven By Disruption sale at Sotheby's in New York showcasing "extremes of motoring history" with a highly-curated collection of 30 investment-grade automobiles. The score includes one of the world's most valuable and historically important cars, the ex-works 1956 Ferrari 290 MM by Scaglietti, built for racing legend and five-time World Champion Juan Manuel Fangio to compete in the 1956 Mille Miglia. The vintage motor is expected to bring in between $28 million and $32 million, and could set a new world record. Maranello, 24 November – Sergi Bruguera, Henri Leconte, Mats Wilander and John McEnroe were the undisputed stars of “La Grande Sfida” exhibition tournament in Modena last weekend. During their time in Emilia, their paths also crossed with the Ferrari factory. The first occasion was at the press conference held on Friday at the Museo Enzo Ferrari (MEF) in Modena to launch the tennis event. The grand tour of the factory came on Sunday when the four legednary players paid a special visit to Maranello where they were welcomed by Italian tennis legends Lea Pericoli and Nicola Pietrangeli. The group toured the factory, getting an up-close look at the cars on the 8 and 12-cylinder assembly lines. Needless to say, everyone wanted a souvenir photo with the latest model, the F12tdf. The visit then continued on to the Classiche department where the tennis stars were particularly taken with a F40. John McEnroe wanted to know all the details about the model, including its price on its launch in 1987; while Sergi Bruguera told the group about the time he was given the opportunity to drive that exclusive model: “It was absolutely unbelievable – the fastest car I’ve ever driven. The F40 really delivered incredible sensations!” And speaking of tradition, John McEnroe underscored his passion for the sport, adding humorously that “if the driver is not very good, it’s probably better he doesn’t get too passionate at speed”. Mats Wilander also explained his great admiration for everything Ferrari represents while Henri Leconte proved the biggest fan of all: “I’ve adored Ferrari since I was a boy. I’ve always dreamed about visiting Maranello and I’m incredibly happy to be here. You can go to any factory anywhere but there’s nothing like Ferrari”. Leconte then gave his own take on the marque: “Ferrari encompasses two extraordinary factors that it also shares with tennis: evolution and tradition. In tennis too, there is huge, continual evolution in materials but we also have tournaments like Wimbledon that are absolutely traditional with nothing over-the-top whatsoever permitted. For example, players are only allowed wear white and there is a story you have to know. There are essential stages you have to go through. Ferrari represents the perfect union of those two elements: tradition in that it is one of the world’s most important and well-known brands, and continual innovation as epitomized by its cars”. The California T. The four visiting players were also taken for spin through Maranello and the surrounding area in four California T’s driven by Ferrari’s test-drivers. Unfortunately, bad weather meant, they couldn’t see the RHT in action but the car proved its extraordinary versatility and ability to deliver a sublimely exhilarating drive even in tricky road conditions with the top up. Ferrari 488 GTB wins ‘China Performance Car of the Year’ Guangzhou, November 23rd — The outstanding success of Ferrari 488 GTB was rewarded by the media of China, with the presentation of the award for ‘China Performance Car of the Year’ on November 19th in Guangzhou. Receiving a final score of 116 points – more than double the points of the next highest competitor – the Ferrari 488 GTB again demonstrated that the Italian marquee remains the preeminent super car manufacturer in the world today. For more information contact Craig Forbes (678) 802-5000 [email protected] December 4th, 2015 The “China Car of the Year” is to the auto industry what the Oscars are of the film industry, and was inaugurated to recognize and reward automotive excellence in China. This year, the program is initiated by twenty-two editors-inchief who write for the most favored car magazines in China. On the basis of more than 140 brand new car models released from Oct.1st 2014 to Sep.30th 2015 in mainland China, three rounds of voting and scoring are set to decide the top three of the five different award. A real test drive involving the shortlisted models was conducted on Nov 10th in Beijing and eventually given a closed scoring on the Internet. Surrounded by the finest automotive creations available, “China Car of the Year” was looking for a product that offered the finest in product design, the highest levels of performance, while also considering market performance and sales status – and the Ferrari 488 GTB was a clear winner. Forty years on from Ferrari’s first ever mid-rearengined V8 berlinetta, the 308 GTB, the Prancing Horse has written a new chapter in its 8-cylinder history. $12 Million Ferrari Collection Headed for Auction Eight amazing Ferraris collectively worth around $12 million will be sold at the Gooding & Company auctions in Scottsdale on January 29 and 30 next year. What makes this Ferrari collection most impressive is that they’re all owned by one person, Tony Shooshani. Shooshani is one of the world’s most noted Ferrari collectors and beyond all the incredible Ferrari road cars he owns, he also has a Ferrari 599XX Evoluzione in his collection which he races during the firm’s Corse Cliente program. What’s more, he also owns a bespoke LaFerrari and one of just six Ferrari Sergios ever produced. For more information contact Craig Forbes (678) 802-5000 [email protected] December 4th, 2015 Tipped to be the most expensive Ferrari from Shooshani’s collection at the auction will be his 1995 F50 with preauction estimates putting its sales price between $2.5-$2.9 million. It is Ferrari Classiche-certified and chassis 99999, the last Ferrari to have a five-digit chassis number. Making it all the more exceptional is the fact that it only has only driven 1100 miles. Following on from the F50, Shooshani’s 2003 Enzo could fetch as much as $2.8 million. It has been signed by Ken Okuyama, the former head designer at Pininfarina and is also Ferrari Classiche certified. The third Ferrari hypercar being sold is a 1990 F40, one of just 213 examples delivered in the United States. It should sell for between $1.3$1.6 million. Two other particularly impressive models being sold are a 1960 Ferrari 250 GT Series II Cabriolet and a 1964 250 GT Lusso. The first of those is painted in Blu Scuro, is chassis 1939 GT and could sell for $2.3 million. Meanwhile the 250 GT Lusso is chassis 5537 GT and if all goes well will change hands for $2.2-2.5 million. The final three models being sold are a 1969 Ferrari Dino 206 GT, a 1984 Ferrari 512 BBi and a 1988 Ferrari 328 GTS. Snell SA2015 Certified helmets will be available for sale on October 1, 2015, when the new standard takes effect. You can read the official Snell statement here. That being said, if you are in need of a new helmet now, there is no need to wait for the new helmets. The current Snell standard of SA2010 will NOT be obsolete when the new SA2015 helmets are released, so you will be able to continue using a Snell SA2010 rated helmet throughout the SA2015 life cycle of 5 years. Shop for Snell SA2010 Rated helmets at SoloRacer.com. QUESTION: What are the differences between Snell M and SA rated helmets? Click here for more information on Snell M and SA rated helmets. Auto racing helmets are rated by the Snell Foundation as either SA, M, or K rated... Snell SA Rated Helmets: Snell "SA" (Sports Application) rated professional helmets are designed for auto racing and provide extreme impact resistance and higher fire protection. Snell M Rated Helmets: Snell "M" (Motorcycle) rated helmets are designed for motorcycling and other motorsports. They offer slightly less protection than SA rated helmets. For more information contact Craig Forbes (678) 802-5000 [email protected] December 4th, 2015 Snell K Rated Helmets: Snell "K" (Karting) rated helmets are designed for Karting applications. They are subjected to the same test standards as SA helmets except the do not require a fire retardant interior. What are the key differences between SA and M Rated Helmets? - SA standard requires flammability test while the M standard does not. - SA standard has roll bar impact test while M standard does not. - SA standard allows narrower visual field than M standard (Some SA helmets aren't street legal). How do I know if my helmet meets the necessary Snell requirements for the organizations that I race with? Always check your club rule book to determine what helmet specifications they require. Most clubs seem to allow you to use the current Snell specification, as well as the previous Snell specification. So, in that case, for the 2016 season, you could use Snell M2010/SA2010 or Snell M2015/SA2015 rated helmets. Snell M2005/SA2005 helmets would not meet requirements after October 1, 2015. The bottom line is... read your rulebook carefully. Also, if you are considering the purchase of a Snell "M" rated helmet, be sure that your club will allow them. SCCA Solo does allow Snell "M" rated helmets, although some organizations that run high speed events will require Snell "SA" rated helmets. We recommend Snell "SA" rated helmets because they will be legal for any type automotive activity you participate in. What is the current Snell rating? New ratings typically come out every 5 years. As of October 2015, the current Snell rating is 2015. We currently carry Snell SA2010 helmets which are on Clearance awaiting the new SA2015 helmets. Snell M2005 and Snell SA2005 rated helmets are no longer available. http://www.smf.org/helmetguide For more information contact Craig Forbes (678) 802-5000 [email protected] December 4th, 2015 GADGETS Flicks Cordless Projector After a very successful crowdfunding campaign, the Flicks Cordless Projector is now available for purchase.
