IASCA (International Autosound Challenge Association) sponsors a year-long series of nation-wide premier auto sound competitions. The men and women who compete have the highest standards in audio. The ones who win are the best of the best. The committed. They’re our “think tank”—the people who suggest new products, and better features. The ones who help us keep raising the bar. It’s our proving ground for quality and performance. MTX was the first American audio company to achieve ISO-9001 Certification. Awarded by Underwriter’s Labs (UL), ISO-9001 Certification means that we have been through a rigorous audit procedure that checks our entire product design and manufacturing process. It reflects our commitment to quality, and our focus on exceeding our customers’ expectations. 1 2-CHANNEL AMPLIFIERS 4 CHANNEL AMPLIFIERS BUILT-IN FLEXIBILITY PERFORMANCE BORN UNDER A GOOD SIGN. The new 4-channel Road Thunder amplifiers are designed to truly reflect the installations that are most common for a 4-channel amp: When you pick an amplifier, you want a guarantee that it’ll deliver. The amplifier must provide ultraclean sound with unmatched durability. A promise that you can turn it up and it won’t turn off. That’s what you get with the MTX Road Thunder amplifiers. We test each amplifier extensively before you ever see it to make sure it meets or exceeds its rated specifications. Then, and only then, do we sign the Certified Performance Certificate. It’s our word that this amplifier will perform to specs—it’s like being born with a destiny for greatness. Scenario # 1 Running your front speakers off the two front channels, and bridging the rear channels to drive a subwoofer. Scenario # 2 Running your front speakers off the front channels, and your rear speakers off the rear channels. Here’s what we’ve done. The crossover is fixed at 18 dB/octave at 85 Hz. Rear Channels – The crossover on the rear channels is switchable from full-range, high-pass, or low-pass. SPECIAL FEATURES The Road Thunder amplifiers each have a built-in crossover that makes system design much easier and more efficient. It’s 18 dB/octave at 85 Hz, switchable from low pass/high pass or full-range. High-level inputs and Auto Turn-on. To better integrate with OEM head units, these new Road Thunder amps feature what we call “Smart-Engage”. It’s a patent pending auto power-up circuit that automatically turns the amp on when it senses the source voltage from the high level inputs from the factory radio (this means you don’t have to remove the factory head unit during installation -this means it’s easy to install this amp). MADE IN THE USA The bass boost is centered at 40 Hz. We proudly tell the world that these amplifiers are Made in the USA. In our factory in Phoenix, Arizona. It’s a sign that we are highly involved with nearly every step in the manufacturing process. That means that we control the quality, so that our customers are assured of a reliable, high-performance product. Front Channels – The crossover on the front channels is full-range or high pass And, the 4-channel Road Thunder amplifiers feature a new parallel input switch that lets you run 2 RCAs for 4-channels (like getting a built-in Y connector). And, the wire harness for the high level inputs is color-coded, so it’s really easy to install this amp. The Road Thunder amplifiers have a buffered, isolated full-range output, allowing you to daisy chain amps to other subwoofers or to high frequency amps. You can’t accuse us of not giving you flexibility, now, can you? EASE OF INSTALLATION See the color coding on this wire harness—we’ve pre-colored this to tell you which is positive/negative and left/right—this means that you just plug in and go. 2 3 AMPLIFIERS: CERTIFIED PERFORMANCE AMPLIFIER SPECIFICATIONS Why do we go to all this effort? They electrically isolate the amplifier from the chassis of the car, to reduce the chance of damaging, chassis to chassis ground loops. We call these ISO-FEET, and we’re proud to tell you that the U.S. government thought they were so cool that they issued us a patent. (Patent # 5,521,792) 5 AMPS AMPS 2 CHANNEL INTRODUCTION SPECIAL FEATURES GUTSY SIMPLICITY Thunder amplifiers are known for superior performance, low to non-existent noise, and really easy installation. Their performance is legendary. Remember your first car? It filled you with the thrill of driving. The Thunder 2-channel amplifiers will spark that same thrill. The body. Shiny chrome logo with bright red LED. The rugged black heatsink that was inspired by the machined cylinder head of a classic, high performance automobile. Under the Hood: The Thunder amplifiers are made for performance. Packed with features that make the music sound crystal clear. With enough muscle to satisfy your bass addiction. The crossover is 12 dB/octave high pass, 24 dB/octave low pass, variable from 40 to 200 Hz. In low pass mode, the outputs are mono, at 24 dB/octave. It’s the job of the crossover to make your bass sound like it comes from the front of the car (we call it “bass up front”). Remember, you install subwoofers in the trunk because that’s where the space is, not because bass sounds better coming from behind your ears. THUNDER CERTIFICATE OF PERFORMANCE The RCA outputs are selectable, from fullrange to high-pass or low-pass. This allows you to feed additional amplifiers. Every Thunder amplifier carries an industry-leading three year warranty—now how’s THAT for showing our confidence! Smart-Engage, Auto Turn-On. This patentpending circuit automatically turns the amp on when it senses the BTL dc voltage from your factory radio. Makes installation a snap. Individual Gain Controls to center up the soundstage. Every Thunder amplifier is backed up by our Certified Performance Certificate—so you know exactly how your amplifier performed under real world conditions. Giant MOSFETS (we’re not exaggerating— they’re huge). A larger MOSFET means power supply stability, and a more reliable product. If it doesn’t meet or exceed spec, it doesn’t ship. No questions. No exceptions. THUNDER CHROME LOGO It doesn’t get any classier than t h i s — craftsmanship that could only be made by MTX Audio. Chrome with a super-bright LED lets you know where this amp’s head is at: Performance, performance, performance. CERTIFIED POWER 6 A word about power — when you pick an amplifier, it’s important to know how it stacks up. MTX has chosen the most conservative (and we believe, the most honest) way to rate our amps. We test it at RMS power at 12.5 volts, and show you the spec for dynamic power at 14.4 volts (the IHF-202 Standard). That way, you can see how the amp is rated under the RMS “standard” and also how it performs under more normal operation. Beware of specs that don’t tell what the measurement standard is. 8 Volt RMS Input—This large signal capability allows for better integration with high voltage output source units, increasing dynamic range, and improving Signal-toNoise ratio in the audio system. Continuously Adjustable Thunder EQ bass boost, centered at 40Hz. To severely boost the low-end, and the attention you get from other drivers and innocent bystanders. Unique Split Shield bottom plate design, reduces electro-magnetic interference to improve signal-to-noise ratio and reduce distortion. This design is so hot, we patented it so others can’t leech off our genius. (Patent # 5,521,792) 7 AMPS AMPS 4 & 5 CHANNEL CLASS D THE MOST EFFICIENT BASS MONSTERS... CLASS D TECHNOLOGY. THE NEXT TIER OF THUNDER Requiring more options. More flexibility. More channels. Thunder 4 & 5 Channel Amps. 4-CHANNEL AMPLIFIERS The advantage of Class D amplification is that it is highly efficient (that means, the amplifier effectively uses the power to drive speakers, rather than dissipating it as heat), and Class D amps have a very small footprint. Almost anyone can make a big amplifier, but it takes smarts and careful engineering to make a small, efficient amplifier. And almost anyone can buy a big amplifier, as long as they don’t mind sacrificing the whole trunk and the entire contents of their wallet). But go back to what we said on the first page of this brochure -- we think our customers are pretty smart. Smart enough to know that Class D is the technology of the future for subwoofer amps. 12 dB/octave high pass and 24dB/octave low pass crossover with mono subwoofer output— flexibility, and improved bass up front. “Summed output” jacks provide a line level summed output of the right front/right rear and left front/left rear input signals. This output is typically used to drive an external subwoofer amplifier. The parallel input switch allows a 2-channel signal to drive all four channels (no need for a “Y” connector). 5-CHANNEL AMPLIFIER You’ll choose a five-channel amplifier when you want high-end car audio, but you don’t really want to cram your trunk full of amps. The Thunder405. Four channels are for your mids and highs, the Fifth channel is a dedicated, class D subwoofer channel. Front Channels feature a Fully Adjustable Crossover from 40-200 Hz, with 12 dB/octave high pass and 24 dB/octave low pass. The subwoofer channel features a low pass crossover at 24 dB/octave, also adjustable from 40-200 Hz. The Thunder504 amplifier if you want to run you EBC Port, for easy external bass control “MTX STEPS UP TO THE PLATE AND KNOCKS ONE OUT OF THE PARK.” Class D amps run cooler because they take the low frequencies (think thunderous bass) and send power to those frequencies only when required. In most amplifiers, the power is flowing constantly, even during a musical passage where there’s no bass. This wastes power and causes the amp to overheat much more quickly (that’s why you see giant heatsinks and noisy fans). The crossover in the Class D amplifiers is low-pass, at 24dB/octave, adjustable from 40 - 500 Hz. The Thunder250D and Thunder500D feature high level inputs and Smart-Engage auto-turn-on. All Thunder Class D models feature the EBC External Bass Control. THE REVIEWERS SPEAK-UP In reviewing the first Thunder Class D amplifier, the reviewers at Car Sound magazine had only good things to say... “MTX steps up to the plate with this Class D subwoofer amp and knocks one out of the park...True beauty is relative to efficiency and output power into 2 ohms. What a philosophy!... small enough to offer a variety of installation options... keep up the good work, guys!” Car Sound Magazine, August 1999 FEEL THE THUNDER T-SHIRT At MTX, we feel so strongly about going beyond the ordinary that we put a Tshirt inside the box with every Thunder amplifier. You can look as good as you sound. Now, how cool is that? 8 9 AMPS AMPS SPECIFICATIONS 1 3. Low Impedance, High Power Transformers provide more power and produce less heat. 3 4. LOYD IVEY: MTX FOUNDER 12 Loyd Ivey, President and CEO of MTX Audio, 30 years ago took a garagebased speaker cabinet business and an intense love for music and turned it into MTX Audio—the leading manufacturer of high performance car, home, and professional audio gear. Loyd has been successful with a very simple philosophy: Providing high quality, high performance audio. Today, he employs more than 1000 people in Wisconsin, Illinois, Arizona, Missouri and Texas. 13 COAXIALS UPGRADE INSTALLS CONVERTIBLES THE FRONT STAGE The front stage in car audio means that if you shut your eyes, you can visualize the location of the performers and instruments on the “stage” during a live performance. And it’s the front speakers that re-create an accurate front stage experience. The Thunder6000 Convertibles are one of the most flexible ways that you’ll find to add superior musicality and accurate staging to your audio system. The midbass speakers have been highly engineered for sound quality. The cone material is an injection-molded polypropylene with pure titanium deposited on the surface. Besides having a stellar appearance, this type of cone construction contributes to the speaker’s durability. The machined midbass front and back plates continue the classic look. The Thunder 6000 convertibles come with a separate crossover network that mimics the cosmetics of the Thunder amplifiers, right down to the little oval logo. The crossover slope is 12dB/octave, for smooth transitions between the mid and high frequencies. We call these convertibles, but they ain’t no ragtops. They ship to you as a coaxial, with the the tweeter mounted inside the midbass cone. However, you can easily remove the tweeter and convert the speakers to separate component systems. YOUR CHOICE OF FACTORY REPLACEMENT SPEAKERS SHOULD DEPEND ON THREE THINGS. The tweeter on the convertibles is a sonically pure, 19 mm PEF dome, with a ferrofluid cooled neodymium magnet. The tweeter swivels in any configuration, and when it converts to a separate tweeter, you can mount it using the flush or surface mount accessories. How do they sound? What are they made of? How long is the warranty? The materials used in MTX coaxials are tough, rugged, and built to last. Injection molded polypropylene cones produce better bass. The PolyNeo II™ balanced dome tweeters have polycarbonate domes for extended high frequency response, neodymium magnets for improved efficiency, and ferrofluid cooling for longer life. Other unique features, like insulated high frequency leads, polyimide impregnated fiberglass voice coil formers, and an industry leading 2-year warranty, make MTX coaxials the best choice for sound improvement. Plus, they’re designed and engineered right here in the USA so your music will be full, clear, and more accurate. These new component systems are for the person who truly appreciates the acoustic information that makes up a song. And they’re for the person who knows their music -- all the nuances, and where the performers were located in the sound stage. And once you’re that close to the music, you expect the imaging and staging characteristics of your front speakers to be pretty exceptional. The new Thunder8000 component systems will not disappoint. They are true to the music. INSTANT RECOGNITION The Thunder8000 Component Systems sport the distinctive silver, red, and black MTX logo (so there’s no question about your high level of musical taste). To achieve the kind of musical accuracy that you expect from the finest components, we’ve designed the midbass with elegant, high-end die cast frames. These tooled parts make for a classic cosmetic statement, and they also result in a more durable frame. The cone material is coated with titanium for a stylish, bullet-proof appearance. The machined front plates and back plates continue the MTX dedication to quality engineering and attention to detail. TITANIUM DEPOSITION O n t h e tweeter, we’ve incorporated a 1” silk dome for accurate high frequency reproduction, and cooled it with ferrofluid. Mounting options are many, with a swivel surface and flush mount. A two position tweeter attenuation switch (+/- 3dB) gives you command of your high-end frequency reproduction. Titanium is one of the strongest and lightest metals known. The Titanium deposition on the polypropylene cones increases resistance to UV rays which means you get a speaker that lasts longer. The crossover is a 12 dB/octave, low-pass, 18db/octave high-pass. The crossover housing is durable, injection-molded plastic. The music and the road. 16 17 SUBS ALDS ASYMMETRICAL LINEAR DRIVE SYSTEM WELCOME TO WOOFERS ALDS = HIGH OUTPUT + LOW DISTORTION It’s the technology behind Thunder subwoofers. Take two cool ideas, put them together, and Presto — the whole world sounds better. 400 Total Power Handling 25 Ounce Magnet 1.5” Voice Coil COOL IDEA # 1 FLAT AND PROGRESSIVE SPIDER Progressive means that the spider’s stiffness varies across its surface. It’s like a shock absorber—a loud musical passage is a rough, rutted road. Better suspension, better ride, better sound. COOL IDEA # 2. EXTENDED POLE PIECE 500 33 Total Power Handling Ounce Magnet 1000 Total Power Handling 2” Voice Coil 102 2.5” Ounce Magnet Voice Coil Teamed with the flat progressive spider, this makes for a very linear, or straight, motion of the speaker. (Linearity is also engineeringese for low distortion.) Note: This cool idea combo is what makes your tunes musical— even while your retinas are detaching from extreme SPL. We use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to design our loudspeakers. It’s just one of the many computer software tools we use to ensure a superior product. This picture shows the suspension on the speaker during its most extreme outward travel. We use this information to make sure that mechanical stress is spread out evenly across the suspension, so our subwoofers live long and prosper. COMPETITIVE SPIRIT OF THE YEAR Kemp Hough, one of the MTX ThunderForce team members, won the “Competitive Spirit of the Year” award at the 1999 IASCA FINALS in Greenville, SC. This award is presented by CarSound Magazine to the competitor who exemplifies the spirit of teamwork and good sportsmanship. 18 19 SUBWOOFERS ADD BASS NOW SUPERIOR POWER HANDLING The finest amplifiers deserve to be paired with superior quality subwoofers and component systems. Thunder4000 subwoofers feature the same Asymmetrical Linear Drive System, common to all Thunder Loudspeakers (the flat progressive spider, combined with the extended, vented pole piece). We’ve added some other touches to make sure these speakers perform way, way, past your expectations. The Voice Coil is wound on an Apical voice coil former for high power handling. The strontium ferrite magnet yields a highly efficient speaker (more efficient means better use of your amplifier power). The folded window basket is durable and attractive. PICK AN ENCLOSURE— ANY ENCLOSURE WAY COOL LOOKS As important as power handling, so is installation flexibility. These Thunder4000 subwoofers are performers in virtually any enclosure (small sealed, bandpass, or vented). These subwoofers will please all you fashion plates out there. Machine turned front and back plate with clear zinc plating (that zinc will repel corrosion) and a Black foam surround. New injection-molded polystyrene gasket (it looks good, plus it’s resistant to those bad U.V. rays). And the bright nickel connectors are good-looking and functional. Very tasty. MTX introduces a clever mix of leading edge technology including MTX’s Asymmetrical Linear Drive System). These new subwoofers were designed to play DEEP, LOW, BASS in a variety of enclosures: sealed, vented or bandpass. The Thunder6000 subwoofers come in 4 or 8 ohm impedances, with the 10” size also available in 12 ohm (three 10” speakers fit really well in the space between the tire wells). ACOUSTICALLY STABLE FOR ACCURATE SONIC REPRODUCTION Black, NBR surround and gasket combination makes a tight seal when rear mounted, and a cosmetic nicety when front mounted. NBR rubber has a high resistance to ozone and UV aging so your subwoofers will live a very long life. EXTREME POWER HANDLING LEVELS Oversized magnet structure, a 2” four-layer voice coil and Apical voice coil formers keep these subwoofers ready and eager to play. MACHINED STEEL PARTS The new injection-molded, silver-machined look cone with 8 stiffening ribs increase cone stiffness for improved mechanical power handling (and they look pretty cool, too). The machine-turned front and back plate with a clear zinc coating makes a high-end quality statement, with the zinc playing the role of corrosion fighter. Bright nickel connectors complete the connection in the most attractive way. The folded window basket is stronger, more durable, and unique in appearance. THUNDER 6000 SUBWOOFER SPECS. Take a good look at this speaker. The gasket and surround are made from black NBR rubber (that’s Nitrile Butadiene Rubber). This is a synthetic rubber that’s extremely resistant to ozone and the effects of UV rays. Translation? Extremely durable, with a sleek, cool look. The unique radius on the pole piece also minimizes turbulence that occurs during large excursions, so when you turn the music WAY up, you won’t hear that “heavy breathing” sound (unless it’s your own). WOOF. Your first glimpse of these Thunder8000 subwoofers will give you a clue about their performance. “Aggressive” is one word for it. The enormous 12-leg die cast aluminum basket was made to handle the demands of enormous bass. The machined front and back plates scream quality. The 12 stiffening ribs on the injection molded cone increase cone durability and performance. Bark AND bite that lasts. HOT ISN’T ALWAYS COOL. Asymmetrical Linear Drive technology, used throughout the Thunder series, promises high output with low distortion. And these subs are packed with features to help dissipate heat (repeat: “Overheated speakers are NOT our friends”). They have a rugged die cast frame, an enormous magnet structure (102 ounces), and a 2.5” high-temperature, 4-layer voice coil (8-layer on the 15”). If you didn’t know, more copper means better thermal power handling. Spider Plateau Venting refers to the small vents around the frame that allow the super-heated air under the spider to be exchanged with cooler ambient air. All these features add to the cool factor—literally. Why put all this effort and technology into the Thunder8000 subwoofers? One, because we can. Two, because it’s so cool. And three, because durability is critical for performance at high SPL levels. When the SPL meter is peggin’ 150, you can’t have your speakers ripping apart. (That would NOT be a good thing.) So give Thunder8000 your best shot, but be prepared—your head will likely explode long before these speakers ever will. ENGINEERS GEEKOUT AGAIN Our engineers just might have out-done themselves on this one. One of the biggest challenges in spider design (the spider is the suspension of the speaker) is to maximize the linear region of the speaker’s movement. We performed extensive Finite Element Analysis (high-tech testing) on the spider and found that the best design was a “five roll” spider design. It can mean the difference between a greatsounding, good-looking install or one that has you crying over the holes that an installer wanna-be has hacked in your door panels. Look for the Mobile Electronics Certified Professional certification. It means that your installer has passed a rigorous round of tests. T410 T412 SINGLE-SUB WEDGE ENCLOSURES Thunder4000 mobile enclosures take the original concept—easily installed, portable bass for your car—and angle the backs and sides to ensure that these enclosures fit in almost every vehicle on the road today. There aren’t too many cars shaped like a square inside or out. The T610 and T612 single-sub wedge enclosures are real performers. They feature a 70 degree trapezoidal shape that makes the most efficient use of available space in the vehicle. A 4 ohm mono design maximizes the output capability of your amplifiers. And each of the Thunder6000 enclosures has a rear plexiglas viewing window, for a custom-built enclosure appearance. SINGLE-SUB WEDGE ENCLOSURES TRI-SUB™ ENCLOSURE The T410 and T412 are single-sub wedge enclosures with a small sealed enclosure design, for deep, low bass. 70 degree trapezoidal shape makes the most efficient use of available space. A 4 ohm mono design maximizes the output capability of your amplifiers. The T610X3 is a three woofer Tri-Sub trapezoid bass enclosure that also conforms to vehicle seat back angles for a perfect fit. The Tri-Sub design fits virtually all hatchbacks, and is a perfect fit for the new Camaros and Firebirds. With total power handling of up to 1500 watts, the T610X3 takes whatever you give (and probably would ask for more if it could). You know, those places behind or beneath the seats, where loose change hides and oil change receipts gather. Those spaces are cryin’ for bass. MTX responds with ThunderForm vehicle-specific subwoofer enclosures. 1. IMAGINE—A MOTHER-LOAD OF BASS IN A SMALL SPACE. MTX engineers measured top-selling vehicles and evaluated their sonic signatures. Using unique materials and creative manufacturing processes we developed enclosures that would deliver high quality sonic performance, yet fit in the wasted space where you can’t fit anything else. ThunderForm vehicle-specific mobile enclosures are designed to fill your car’s deepest, darkest corners and deliver a mother-load of bass. STYLE, SUBSTANCE ALL—PERFORMANCE. AND FORD RANGER 1998-2000 ABOVE ThunderForm enclosures are engineered in loaded or amplified models to deliver high SPL with very low distortion (you can get them unloaded also, if you want to “make your own bass”). They’re available in a variety of colors to match the interior of your particular vehicle and you won’t have to compromise its cosmetic integrity. This is especially nice for those who lease their vehicles and want to enjoy added bass without the added hassle of messy installations. The material in the ThunderForm enclosures is a high density polyethylene resin, which is resilient enough to transform into various shapes, yet rigid enough to avoid flexing. It also has enough density to dampen any resonance (No cabinet “ping” allowed). All ThunderForm mobile enclosures are manufactured through a process we call rotational molding. It’s technology that allows you, our customer, to select a textured subwoofer enclosure that sounds great, fits perfectly, and is a perfect color match to your OEM color scheme. Stay very far away from anyone who tells you that all grays are alike — they’re not. And, it’s our technological approach that makes these enclosures, that sound like a million, not cost a million. 2. 3. NEW AMPLIFIED MODELS: A TOTALLY NEW CONCEPT IN MATERIALS, DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING On the Amplified ThunderForm models, we’ve added an on-board, 100watt, Class-D amplifier. The amp is highly efficient, and has been designed specifically for the subwoofer in the enclosure. This means that you get deep, low bass, without having to wire in a separate amplifier. And the MTX Smart-Engage Circuitry (patent pending) eliminates the need to remove your factory head-unit during most installations (now, if you don’t know how much time that feature alone will save you, just go sit in your car, and imagine having to tear out the whole dash... and really hope you don’t snap any of the clips in there). FEATURES 1. A highly efficient on-board, rugged, 100-watt Class-D amplifier 2. A unique, custom-designed sub woofer complements the efficiency of the Class-D amplifier to deliver deep, low bass. 3. Companies that win this award for their product(s) know they are on the cutting edge of Design and manufacturing technology. 30 The MTX ThunderForm was the recipient of the Innovations Award for two consecutive years. The first year for the concept of vehicle-specific, colormatched mobile enclosures. The second year for adding on-board amplification. Not bad, eh? 31 ENCLOSURES MOBILE ENCLOSURES MOBILE & UNLOADED TOUGH AND RUGGED MOBILE ENCLOSURES: FOLLOW YOUR OWN ROAD At MTX we approach mobile enclosures with a passion matched only by the feeling you get when you follow your own road. You get a mobile enclosure that fits your brand new vehicle—perfectly. And our loudspeakers are specifically engineered for the enclosure you buy. They feature finely crafted horn-loaded quartz type semiconductor tweeters in the full-range, and solid, highperformance subwoofers for maximum thunder. Each enclosure is covered with aviation grade carpeting to protect your vehicle’s interior. The heavy-duty steel grilles protect the subwoofers and are as tough as nails. They have to be because when you are on the road, you don’t want to worry about whether your enclosure can take what you give it. The Thunder8000 unloaded enclosures are built to handle the demands of the T h u n d e r 8 0 0 0 monster subwoofers. Built of 1” thick MDF, these sealed enclosures are tough, rugged, and more than capable of standing up to the high SPL demands that the Thunder8000 subs will deliver. BANDPASS LOUDSPEAKERS: OPTIMAL AIR VOLUMES Bandpass loudspeaker systems are a logical choice when you’re interested in efficiency (requiring less amplifier power to create more sound). And, because the MTX acoustic engineers have painstakingly calculated the optimum front and rear chamber air volumes, and the front chamber tuning frequency, the acoustic response is highly accurate. And the MTX Road Thunder Bandpass boxes have a custom-built box look—no average, square plexiglas windows for you! SLIM UNIVERSAL TRUCK BOXES BANDPASS SUBWOOFER ENCLOSURES These slim universal truck boxes fit behind the seat and deliver bass you can hear and feel from a block away. The autosound champion is a special breed—working into the night, tweaking and changing. It’s knowing that you’re going up against the best in the world, and you’d better be prepared. You’ll spend hours tearing your system apart, listening to it play, putting it back together, and then starting all over again. You’ll even take to hanging around the car audio shop, learning how to tweak a car to wring out an extra tenth of a point in a competition. Dozens of sleepless nights. Remembering your pizza delivery man’s birthday, but forgetting your girlfriend’s name. 1999 IASCA WORLD FINALS It’s a sickness without a cure. At the 1999 IASCA FINALS the ThunderForce Team members took home 18% of the available trophies. That capped a winning season—150 total trophies for the year. Maybe you’ll win a trophy, maybe not. Maybe you’ll be the next world champion, maybe not. But once it gets in your blood, you’ll love every minute of it. • 12 IASCA TROPHIES • 3 WORLD CHAMPIONS • 8 STATE CHAMPIONS • 16 POINTS CHAMPIONS • 1 COMPETITIVE SPIRIT AWARD This level of achievement doesn’t come easy—it takes guts and commitment.
