Shri Nachiketa Kelvani Mandal Vill. Devli, Taluka - Talaja, District Bhavnagar (Gujarat) Annual Report for the year 2010-2011 (A) Actvities Done by Own Contribution Shree Jeevan Pragana Vidhyalaya Educational Programs (B) Actvities Done by Own Contribution Work Shop Cum Seminar on Family Planning Work Shop Cum Seminar on Cancer & Aids Awareness Vocational Training Camps Medical Health Programs Training cum education to street children/child labour Education cum Training programme for tribes Handicapped Welfare Program Women’s Welfare Programme Anti Drug And Alcohol Programme SHREE JEEVAN PRAGANA VIDHYALAYA : Shree Nachiketa Kelvani Mandal organized and run Shree Jeevan Pragana Vidhyalaya (Sen. secondary School), Unchadi is situated in a Rural area minority neighborhood in Ta- Talaja Dist.Bhavnagar. The school imparts education to young children between the ages of twelve to seventeen years from the local community. The inhabitants are poor, illiterate and superstitious comprising mostly of butchers and weavers. The school aims to spread education, health and awareness among the community, the core goal being to prepare the students for formal education. As part of this project Shree Nachiketa Kelvani Mandal provided support for teacher training, buying education supplies and nutrition to the children for a year. In the year 2010-11 total 231 students enrolled in the school (in 8th to 10th class 185 & 11th to 12th class 46 students) and the result of school is in 8th & 9th are 100% : 95.74% and in the 10th class is 90.90%. And result of senior secondary classes 11th & 12th were 100% : 95%. These results show that the school provided the better education in rural area and achieved better results. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES The Trust has regularly been conducting educational programmes aimed at benefit of the masses and more particularly the people below the poverty line. The programs have got recognition and appreciation from both the Trust and the authorities. WORKSHOP CUM SEMINAR ON FAMILY PLANNING In the year 2010-11 the Trust organized Family Planning Program at Taluka - Talaja of Bhavnagar Dist. Considering very high level of reluctance on part of the villagers to adopt the family planning methods the population explosion has taken place causing deterioration in the available resources like Food, Education, Housing, Employment Opportunities etc. A camp was organized by the Trust to raise awareness about the bad effects of the disproportionate growth in the population. Help of audio visual techniques was taken to make the presentation more effective. At the end of the camp free Health check-up was also organized and condoms, contraceptive pills were distributed among the villagers. WORKSHOP-CUM-SEMINAR AWARENESS ON CANCER AND AIDS It is not hyperbole to write that although our medical science has reached to a very high level but still in the world only “AIDS” is the disease which is totally incurable and once it attacks anyone it ends only after the death of the patient. The only cure of AIDS is safety. In the workshopcum-seminar the attendants were made aware of the reasons leading AIDS to and the ways to remain safe from the AIDS. This workshop-cum-seminar was very much liked by the participants. Apart from AIDS workshop-cum-seminar a Cancer Awareness workshop-cum-seminar was also organized by the Trust. Experts and Volunteers of the Trust went to the different blocks of District Bhavnagar to raise awareness and precautions of Cancer. Vocational Training: During the year 2010-11 Shri Nachiketa Kelvani Mandal organize a Vocational Training Programme. In this training programme many Skill Development courses along with spoken English and personality grooming must be taken care by taking some tutorials and short term classes. Particular requirements for a specific job like Technical Skills or can be fulfilled through training provided by us, which may be helpful in their jobs and employment. TRAINING-CUM-EDUCATION TO STREET CHILDREN/ CHILD LABOUR: The Trust has regularly been conducting educational programs aimed to benefit the masses and more particularly the children who live on street and working in Hotel, Industries and Mills. The participants of these programs were benefited largely and agreed to encourage others to join these programs aimed at welfare of the masses. The Trust organized Vocational Training which is vitally important for the street children. The polyvalent approach attempts to provide knowledge and skills in an integrated manner and rests on the principles of need based programme constitutes strategy and techniques of the training. The programs have got recognition and appreciation from both the Trust and the authorities. Education-Cum-Training Program for Tribes The Trust has regularly been conducting educational programs aimed to benefit tribal people. In this regard the Trust organized Vocational Training vitally important for the tribal people. The polyvalent approach attempts to provide knowledge and skills in an integrated manner and rests on the principles of need based programme constitutes strategy and techniques of the training. The programs have got recognition and appreciation from both the Trust and the authorities. HANDICAPPED WELFARE PROGRAMME: Shri Nachiketa Kelvani Mandal has been regularly involved in helping the disabled and handicapped persons by providing them necessary support both financially and morally. Effective steps are being taken to rehabilitate and make the disabled self reliant. Some of these disabled persons are attending the typing and shorthand and various vocational training programs also free of cost. This is a noble step taken by the Trust by everyone. WOMEN WELFARE PROGRAMS: An awareness generation programme aimed at making women’s aware about their fundamental rights was organized by the Trust at Talaja block of Dist. Bhavnagar. The programme was attended by people from all walks of the life and it was felt by the attendant that such programs are very useful in the Trust like ours where women’s awareness about their fundamental rights is very low. Further, they were informed about various kinds of schemes formed and executed by different Govt. Departments for welfare of the women. Either, it is in education, employment or technical guidance etc. ANTI DRUG AND ALCOHOL PROGRAMME: The Shri Nachiketa Kelvani Mandal has been conducting camps aimed at raising awareness about the bad effects of the alcoholism and drinking. The volunteers of the Trust went into village to raise consciousness about the effects of smoking and drinking and use of tobacco. Help of posters and banners was taken to make the presentation more effective. Apart from this the persons who have given up the habit of drinking encouraged people to follow their path and the restraint that one needs to take to give up this habit.
