Why do you do this? We get asked that ques on
o<en, WHY? I don’t know that there is any one
reason, there are too many to put into words.
Every one of us is touched by cancer in one way
or another. Whether it be a loved one or a friend.
Cancer hurts not just physically but emo onally
and financially just to name a few. Every year we
hear stories of individuals that have either won
the baCle or lost the baCle. We watch not only
the individual diagnosed with cancer, but all who
love them go through the fight.
If we can do just one thing though our efforts with
Cowboy Up to hopefully take away some of this
hurt then we have succeeded in what we have set
out to do. We have been a part of Cowboy Up
since day one. Every year we say this is our last.
Time to turn it over to someone younger. Then
another year goes by and here we are! We are
very proud to say that our 2 sons and there wives,
Mike & Marissa and Wade & Marissa have joined
us in this fight. Thank you for making this mission
part of your lives as well.

THANK YOU
Because of your generosity last year Cowboy Up was
able to give $69,700 to the Roger Maris Cancer Center.
We are blessed by the continued support from our
event sponsors and the community. We can’t thank
you enough for all that you do each year.
The committee would also like to say a big thank you
to all of the event volunteers. It takes many hours to
put together each of the different events that have
become a part of Cowboy Up tradition. It would be an
impossible task without each and every one of these
spectacular individuals and their amazing talents. We
are forever grateful for all of the Cowboy Up Deputies!
Chat with a Cowboy Up Volunteer Kings for a Cure is three sisters: Sherri, Stephanie and Summer
King. Our beloved mother Phyllis King lost her battle with breast
cancer in 2006. Shortly after her death, we decided to support
fundraisers for cancer research that would help to find the cure
for cancer.
Stephanie first volunteered at Cowboy Up helping out where
needed, and later on Sherri and Summer joined in the Cowboy
Up fun. To honor our mother, we decided to sell ribbon shaped
suckers at Cowboy Up and various Relay For Life events, and
that’s how Kings for a Cure was born. We sold the suckers for
several years but we wanted to do even more. So we started
selling slushies at Cowboy Up and other events. The slushes
are delicious on those beautiful warm days at Cowboy Up. Be
sure to get yours early in the day as inevitably we always sell
out!
Last year we wanted to raise even more money for Cowboy Up
so another brainstorm came about. Realizing how many people
enjoyed participating in 4-wheeler runs we took on the challenge
of hosting our own 4-wheeler run. Our first event was such a
success and we have planned our second annual 4-wheeler run
for June 4th, 2016.
For more information on our 4-wheeler Run - Like our Facebook
page “Muddin’ Up for Cowboy Up” Hope to see you there!
We are proud to say Kings for a Cure are a
Premier Platinum Sponsor for Cowboy Up!
