Our Lord Jesus has ascended, but still is with us as we spread the news of the salvation he brought to us. Strengthen our faith so that we will go about the work of proclaiming your goodness. Let us not fear to take on our ministry to teach and evangelize, and be part of building up the Body of Christ. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen. © Liturgy Training Publications. 1-800-933-1800. You spent most of your life speaking the golden words of Jesus’ mercy and his Holy Name. And you abhorred words that were shameful. Pray for us that we may always choose to speak Jesus’ name with reverence and choose words of love over words of shame. Amen Are you expecting a tax refund this year? While some may credit their tax preparer for their good fortune, people of faith know all their blessings come from God. Please consider showing your gratitude to God by donating a portion of your refund to Saint Andrew Parish. A one-time donation can be easily made via GiveCentral www.givecentral.org/location/299/ event/6047 Your donation would not only help support the many ministries of our parish, but it could also help reduce your 2015 tax liability. It’s a win, win! May 17, 2015 Meals for Moms Saint Andrews is very excited to announce we are creating a new ministry, Meals for Moms. Before we start, we need to recruit people willing to cook (or purchase) and deliver meals periodically to a Saint Andrew parish family that is either celebrating a new birth or dealing with a family loss or illness. Please email Aimee Milhizer at [email protected] if you are interested in being on the list of volunteers. This is such an easy way for us to make sure our community of young families feel connected and supported. One meal could make a big difference! Are you or someone you know having a baby, or are you or a loved one going through a difficult time? Saint Andrew wants to provide you with a home cooked meal as a sign of our love and prayerful support for your family. Please email us at [email protected] if you or someone you know could benefit from this ministry. 7 8 May 17, 2015 You are Why… We Tell the Story! This year several scouts along with many other adult volunteers from the community worked the river the river bank behind the shopping malls adjacent to Fullerton Avenue. At first glance it seemed like there was nothing to clean, but once the boys got behind the brush and down on the bank, they hauled out nearly a ton of debris that was then loaded onto a Sanitary District barge. A couple rowing teams that were practicing on the river stopped in mid-stroke to say thank you for the hard work. If you’re interest in joining St. Andrew’s Cub Scout Pack or Boy Scout Troop, please contact the parish office and you will be directed to one of the scout leaders. 9 10 DREW’S DOLLARS Fundraising while you shop!
