Tournaments are an excellent way for player to enhance their skills, learn new
ones and meet new friends. The Lacrosse Nova Scotia Lobster Trap Tournament
dates back to 1973 and has the most coveted trophy available at the midget level
in lacrosse, a customized lobster trap.
This year five teams participated in the Lobster Trap Tournament. Four teams
from Nova Scotia (Dartmouth Bandits, Northwest Rebels, Southwest
Hurricanes, Sackville Wolves), and the Okotoks Mustangs. The Okotoks
travelled from Alberta and led the way all weekend culminating in a
championship win on Sunday.
For the 5th consecutive year the tournament unveiled a commemorative print entitled “Always at
Play” and features player arriving at the Shannon Park Arena for the tournament. Painted by
Janet Graham of Seagull Photo and Design the artwork encompasses the spirit of lacrosse, and the
logos of all teams playing in this year‟s tournament.
Jason, Tyler and Jordan
Jayson Baxter from Breakfast Television joined referees Jordan Mills and Tyler Puddifant to learn some of the finer points
of refereeing a lacrosse game. Thank you to representatives of
the Midget Provincial
Lacrosse Team for Trimar, Masters Game All Stars
joining with us to put
Jayson through his

The weekend was full of twists and turns with Senior
Lacrosse Teams joining us for two games during the
tournament. Saturday night a wonderful meet and greet
was held at Boston Pizza in Dartmouth Crossing for the
tournament teams (108 people in attendance). The All
Star was announced at this event. On Sunday the Trimar Masters Invitational was held with five
parents from the Okotoks Mustangs participating, along
with a former Dartmouth resident now living in
Bermuda and two women. A great time was had by all.
