But before doing, Luke’s Jesus is always praying. As prac cal moderns programmed to measure worth by produc vity, we ins nc vely appreciate the Jubilee’s call to embrace the prac cal challenges of our bap sm. But today Luke focuses not on Jesus being bap zed, but on Jesus praying a er bap sm. So must we pray to become the disciples we are called to be, that the Spirit empower us to do what disciples are called to do.
