Dear Parishioners,
Mother’s Day Prayer
Loving God, you wrap your arms around your people
and show your everlasting love in the same way a mother
loves her children. We are grateful for the love you have
taught us through the mothers in our lives: our own
mother who brought us into this world, the mothers of
friends who have welcomed us into their homes and
families, our grandmothers who took time for us, and the
mothers who have helped us even though we were not
their children. Bless all the mothers of this world today.
May they know the fullness of love they have shared
and be blessed every day of their lives. Amen.
Today, as we remember all our mothers, living and
deceased, let us always be thankful for the gift of our
Mothers. Happy and Blessed Mother’s Day to all!
Sincerely in the Lord,
Fr. Joe
Please consider a pledge to the
We Are Living Stones campaign!
Many thanks to all who have responded to the We Are Living
Stones Campaign. If you haven’t, we ask that you consider making a pledge or one time donation to this campaign which will
provide for a Parish Renewal Fund; Tuition Assistance Endowment; Retired Priest Care and Medical Needs Endowment and
Seminarian Support Endowment. Once our goal is reached, 50%
of all monies are returned to the parish for our own parish improvements. The goal is for EVERYONE to participate. All
donations large or small are welcome. The amount of your gift
isn’t as important as the fact that you give something, because Every gift makes a difference—to your Parish and to the
Church as a whole. This is a 4-year campaign and your pledge can
be divided monthly, yearly or a one-time donation depending on what
is best for you. Donations/pledges may be charged to your credit card.
Campaign envelopes can be found in Church or at the Parish Center.
To view the campaign video go to: http://rcan.org/wearelivingstones/
video or see the posting about the campaign on our Parish website
www.mtcimmaculate.org. Thank you for your consideration!

Seventh Sunday of Easter
To All Our Mothers
The beautiful display of flowers before the altar of our
Blessed Mother is in honor of ALL of the mothers here at
Immaculate Conception Parish, who do so much in the raising
and caring of their families. God Bless all who are mothers or
act in the role of mothers, be they aunts, sisters, godmothers or
good friends. As we celebrate the mothers in our lives, let us also
remember the special place the Blessed Mother has in our faith.
By emulating her, she can help us find and say ‘yes’ to God’s
calling in our own lives to be the best that we can be. We pray
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
The Memorare
that never was it known, that anyone who
fled to your protection, implored your help,
or sought your intercession was left
unaided. Inspired by this confidence,
we fly unto you, O Virgin of
virgins, our Mother! To you
we come, before you we stand,
sinful and sorrowful. O
Mother of the Word
Incarnate, despise not
our petitions, but in
your mercy, hear
and answer us.
Amen
Plan to attend the Parish celebration
honoring Msgr. Paul on Sat., June 18
Please join us on Saturday, June 18th for a Mass and
Reception in honor of Msgr. Paul's retirement after 45
years of active ministry and priestly service. Msgr.
Paul will celebrate Mass at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments to
follow in Madonna Hall. Please RSVP to the Parish
Office by June 3rd: 973-744-5650 or [email protected]. See insert in today’s bulletin.
MAY, the Month of Mary - Pray the Rosary
The rosary is a Christ-centered prayer in which we pray to the
Son in the company of His Mother. With Mary, we contemplate the face of Christ an the mysteries of the life He shared
with her. A clear focus on the life of Christ emerges as the
mysteries of the rosary make the circle
from joyful to luminous to sorrowful
to glorious. Please join us in saying
the rosary daily after the 12:10pm
mass. Say the rosary every day” —Our Lady of Fatima 1917
Stewardship Reflection:
Seventh Sunday of Easter

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last
the beginning and the end.”
—Revelations 22:13
This is a reminder of how we should live out lives 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week—putting God first in all that we do. Not
only when I am at Mass and parish activities, but when I am in
the world, at work or at school. Living gratefully and generously is a lifestyle, it’s how I make all my decisions.

Seventh Sunday of Easter
Our Pipe Organ’s Centenary
The magnificent pipe organ in our
church was installed and dedicated in
1916. Plans are underway to celebrate
it’s centenary in the 2016-2017 season.
As you were able to read in last week’s
bulletin some information about the
instrument, this week, we will offer
some more detailed information. Pipe
Organs are the most complex of all musical instruments with
thousands of pipes and moving parts. Extensive work was undertaken in the 1995 renovation of our church to restore some of
those components. Additionally, when the church choir seating
was moved from the organ loft to the front of the church, a new
console was constructed to make the pipe sounds from the organ
loft be playable from the front of the church. At this time, new
pipes were added to the front of the church to attempt to tie the
two ends of our very large church together, from a musical standpoint, when playing hymns or accompanying the choir. However, to save cost at the time, the pipes you see behind the
choir in the front of the church are actually just pretend and the
sound you hear from the front of the church is actually electronic, not authentic pipe as is the case in the 1916 organ from
the loft. Finally, not all of the restoration and improvements
which were envisioned for the main organ in the loft in 1995
were realized. Some further improvements have taken place in
the last 21 years as needed, but now is our opportunity to fully
restore the instrument and embark on some of the improvements which were envisioned in 1995. This will of course rely
on the generosity of our parishioners to make this a reality. In
short, we are planning to complete the following work to the
organ in celebration of it’s centenary:
1. Completing any mechanical restoration yet undone to
the organ in the loft, which is 100 years old.
2. Replacing the digital sounds behind the pretend pipes in
the front of church with authentic pipe sounds.
Our parish has an amazing opportunity to make use of a pipe
organ from a closed Catholic Church in our Archdiocese to
make the sound heard from the front of the church worthy of
the historic sound heard from the back of the church at a fraction of the cost if we were to purchase the pipes new.
We plan to fund these renovation in three ways, none of which
will involve using general parish dollars:
1. A special 2nd collection on May 21-22, where any proceeds
from this collection will be used towards the organ restoration.
2. A Gala to be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at
the Van Vleck House.
3. The remaining balance will come from the Music Endowment
savings account, which has come from donations from parishioners and friends to further the music program in our parish.
We ask that all parishioners reflect on the role of music and the
organ in our liturgies and in the life of our parish, both now
and in our church’s great history and to prayerfully consider
donating towards this cause. Finally, on Sunday, May 22, the
date of the special collection, Preston will offer a Q/A session
in church, following the 8:30Mass and before the 11:00Mass
to demonstrate some of the issues being talked about and
answer any questions about the project. Any parishioner with
questions or wishing to assist in the centenary year is welcome
to contact Preston: [email protected]
