A community…
...of compassion for the lost, the
broken, and the hopeless.
...where everyone
experiences the
transforming love of God.
...where everyone is
discovering their God-given
abilities and gifts.
...where everyone is being
equipped for significant ministry
opportunities.
...of missionaries who are taking
the transforming love of God to
Mechanicsville,
surrounding areas and the world
through service and
personal relationships.
...of individuals and families
who are nourished through prayer, empowered by the Spirit and
directed by the Word of God.
...where everyone is anticipating
and preparing for the appearing
of our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ.

continue
the legacy.
Last month, during Spring Break,
we traveled to
Myrtle Beach,
South Carolina.
This is certainly a
popular vacation
spot. However, for
us it has become more than that as
both my parents and Becki’s parents
live in that area.
On May 23 Becki and I celebrated
our 25th Anniversary. Many of you
have celebrated 40-plus, 50-plus,
and even 60-plus years of marriage.
Thank you for your example to others in what marriage should be. It is
becoming more and more rare to see
life-time marriages as God intended.
I honor you and thank you for leaving that legacy to your children and
grandchildren.
Since Tyler was in college, he wasn’t able to go with us. Becki and I
did travel back to Myrtle Beach less
than two weeks after our Spring
Break trip to see Tyler in the Cincinnati Christian University choir as
they were finishing up their choir
tour. We drove down one day and
back the next. We again were able
to spend time with family.
Becki and I credit 25 years of marriage to a strong foundation of faith
passed down by our families and the
examples of faithful marriage set by
our parents and grandparents.
Thank you!
I share this with you to emphasize
that family is important to us. Why?
Because we both were raised in the
church and raised in Christ. Family
is ordained by God, the strength of
society, and a picture of the church
and Christ’s love for the church.

Wow, wow, wow! That’s what I have
to say about the Spring Concert, The
Healing Has Begun, that took place
May 20. The Worship Choir members
and others had been praying about this
service to be used by God to bring spiritual healing, and I believe He did just
that.
I can’t forget the Oxygen Band—it
was so good to see our teens leading in
worship. Thanks to Tyler Allen, Preston Mundy, Nathan Vaughan, Summer
Stone, Conner Dunn, and Whitney Talley for using their abilities for the
Lord. Gethsemane’s musical future is
in good hands.
Many of the comments after the concert included, “Gethsemane is blessed
with an abundance of musical talent.” I
definitely agree with that statement.
And I am so grateful to the gifted songwriters and musicians who penned the
lyrics and wrote the music that conveyed the message that Jesus is our
healer—by His wounds we are healed.
The Holy Spirit was moving throughout the evening. Many people brought
their burdens and turned them over to
Jesus as we symbolically either put
those burdens into the fountain or
placed them on the cross.
The final song of the evening was triumphant as it reminded us: “There’s a
world full of people dying from broken

Question of the Month:
What’s next?
With prayer, multiple changes, information
gathering, and input from multiple segments of the
congregation, it looks like a final design of an addition to our current facilities has been developed. This
design maximizes the space, pulls everything together, and provides the most support for our current ministries as possible with the amount of square footage
it includes.
Communication is continuing with lending
institutions to determine the requirements for a loan,
which have become more stringent, and with the
county and state to determine the minimal requirements for our entrance and parking.
Thank you for continued prayer and support
as we continue to look forward!
