PRODUCT REPORT FLU DESIGNS PLEATED SEAT EA AT COVER APPLICATION: MOST MODERN MXERS (TESTED TE ESTED HERE ON THE 2010 HONDA CRF450R) PRICE: $49.99 RATING: 9 TESTING, TESTING, 1, 2, 3 9 WHAT IT IS: Normally just seen on many of the to top op race team bikes, this pleated seat cover is designed to provide ample ple amounts of traction and grip. The pleats on the cover only fold back, all allowing lowing you to easily slide forward if needed for turns. The entire seat is made from gripper material, providing even more traction on the sides es of the seat. HITS: This seat did an excellent job at keeping me m in place, especially while seat bouncing jumps and nd accelerating hard out of turns. The one-way pleated ed design adds tremendously to the traction of the he seat, while not being obtrusive like seat humps tend nd d to be. Moreover, the fact that the seat is made fr from rom solely the gripper material makes it comfortable and an nd easy to grip with my legs while standing up. MISSES: While the seat is designed to grip, I found that at times it was THE VERDICT: If you’re in the market for a replacement seat that will hold you in place better than almost anything on the market, pick up the FLU Designs pleated seat today. But if you want to be able to move around a little more freely freely, you better stick with the stocker. If you ask me, though, I prefer the pleated seat. almost too much. Sliding forward at the last minute while seated was difficult, and when seat bouncing, the super-grippy pleats tended to pull my pants down. It is available in two sizes to accommodate a wide range of riders. HITS: Simply put, the Proframe is the most comfortable chest protector I’ve ever worn in conjunction with a neck brace. Paired with a Leatt, the Proframe fits perfectly and requires no modifications. The shoulder straps offer a wide range of adjustment and don’t interfere with a neck brace at all. The chest and back panels rest comfortably against your torso, and are held snugly in place by the well-designed strap system. In comparison to the existing Airframe, the Proframe has a closer-fitting design that moves less on your body while riding. MISSES: Because it’s designed for use with a neck brace, there are no shoulder caps and thus, the Proframe has no shoulder protection. I, however, choose to wear a chest protector more for the front and back impact protection, than shoulder coverage. Furthermore, bulky shoulder caps are what keep many riders from wearing a chest protector in the first place. THE VERDICT: Comfort—or a lack thereof—is what makes most riders shy away from chest protectors in the first place. Now that Fox has introduced the Proframe, that excuse has been eliminated. I love it. Visit: foxracing.com -Donn Maeda 60 TRANSWORLDMX.COM MTC0910_PRO.indd 60 7/21/10 9:55:05 AM
