THE “IN” CROWD
S
t Paul is completely
preoccupied
with
being in Jesus. In
today’s passage from
Ephesians, Paul mentions
benefits and blessings that
come from being in Jesus
numerous times in twelve
verses. Paul is underscoring the critical differences
of our location: it makes
an eternal difference
whether we live our life in
Jesus or outside of Jesus.
Paul proclaims that in Jesus we:
•have “every spiritual
blessing in the heavens”
(Eph 1:3),
•have been “chosen” before the world began, to
be holy and blameless
(Eph 1:4, 11, 13),
•have been chosen “to be
full of love” (Eph 1:4),
•have “glorious favour...
bestowed on us” (Eph
1:6), and
•“have been redeemed
and our sins forgiven”
“In Him...” —Ephesians 1:4, 11, 13
(Eph 1:7).
The best way to be in
Jesus is to have Jesus in
you. Most of you have
received the eucharistic
Jesus today. Jesus reveals
that the person “who
feeds on My flesh and
drinks My blood remains
in Me,” and He will remain in them (Jn 6:56; see
also Jn 17:23).
However, in our Godgiven free will, we can
choose to not be in Jesus,
but rather be separated
from Him. As the song
goes, we can go through
life saying, “I did it my
way.” There’s a place for
those who have chosen
not to be in Jesus. “This
state of definitive self-exclusion from communion
with God and the blessed

Sakrament ciągle niedoceniany

On,

nazwał siebie życiem, był
jak źródło uzdrawiające
z wszelkich chorób i
słabości.
Ktokolwiek
dotknął się Go z wiarą,
wracał do sił. Wieloletnie choroby, kalectwa
od urodzenia, znikały w
spotkaniu z Jego Boską
mocą. Jezus mając na
uwadze chorych na
całym świecie, ustanowił
specjalny
sakrament.
Przygotował
uczniów
do szafowania nim już
wtedy, gdy w ramach
praktyki wyruszali, by
głosić nadejście królestwa Bożego. Św. Marek
notuje: „Wielu chorych
namaszczali olejem i
uzdrawiali”.
Wszystkie sakramenty
są znakiem obecności
Jezusa w Kościele. On,
Zmartwychwstały, jest
z nami i działa równie
skutecznie, jak to czynił
na palestyńskiej ziemi.
Trzeba wyłącznie wiary,

Catholic newspapers except for those who order
them. Despite sale or return and discounts we are
still losing a considerable
amount of money on the
newspapers.

they will be reserved in
the sacristy for your collection.
Please make your decision about ordering

the middle of July.

Leaving items in the
church: please do not
leave items from house
clearances or elsewhere
in the church, even if
they are of a religious nature. Disposing of these

SCIAF’s CALL TO ACTION
Pope Francis’ first encyclical Laudato Si: On the care for our common
home is the most radical ever written on the environment, but follows
in the Church’s long tradition of teaching us to care for God’s creation.
Deliberately timed to influence the UN Climate Change summit in
December, Pope Francis calls on world leaders to take decisive action on climate change, characterising their response so far as being
“weak”.
Inspired by Pope Francis SCIAF are petitioning David Cameron, asking
for urgent action on climate change - click here to add your voice.
Caritas aid agencies like SCIAF & CAFOD, along with our supporters,
have spent years campaigning for action on climate change. We see the
devastating effect natural disasters and shifting weather patterns have
on the world’s poorest communities – the people who’ve done least to
cause the problem.
With the publishing of Laudato Si Pope Francis has made clear the issues of climate change, poverty, and caring for our environment cannot
be separated. Addressing these problems will take commitment from
politicians, but also a commitment to make changes in our own lives.
Our current levels of consumption are not sustainable if we’re to
preserve the earth for our children and future generations.
Pope Francis is unequivocal – climate change is a global problem with serious implications, representing one of the principal
challenges facing humanity.
