County Vocational-Technical High School. You however must
also advise your district that your child will be attending UCTech.
For public schools: This is usually done by filling out a “transfer
card” at your child’s current 8th grade school.
Before entering in September, all students must have on file:
o A Final 8th Grade Transcript

POINTERS FOR
PARENTS…….
Attendance CONCERNS - I am concerned about my child’s attendance. How can I get up-to-date information?
Attendance has a significant impact on your child’s success in school. The student handbook lists specific
guidelines for attendance as it relates to the awarding of credit. A student must be in attendance for 162 of the 180
days in the school calendar in order to be considered to have completed the instructional program requirements of
a course. Students who miss too many days will be required to make up time and work or course credit can be
denied. The latest information about your child’s attendance may be obtained online through the PowerSchool
Parent Portal.
Interim reports & report cards – Interim reports are available via the PowerSchool Parent Portal midway through each marking period and report cards are available at the end of each marking period. The school
district calendar lists the dates for the mid-marking period and the end of each marking period. Reports are
available shortly after these deadlines. Please be advised that the Parent Portal will be closed to parents while
teachers are completing interim reports and report cards and will reopen once completed.
Forms of communication – Our schools have decided to GO GREEN, therefore we are limiting our school-tohome mailings. All school-to-home documents will be posted on our school’s websites under the Go-Green Schoolto-Home Documents tab and will be available for download. Additionally, our schools publish a newsletter
regarding events and programs on a weekly basis. The newsletter is available on the AIT and UCTECH websites
and is also emailed to parents who are members of the PSO.
Teacher contact – Parents should feel free to contact any teacher if they have concerns about a student’s
achievements. Teachers can best be reached via email – first initial, last name @ucvts.tec.nj.us.
Parent conferences – are initiated by a teacher, school counselor or parent. The goal is usually to assist the
student toward better achievement. These conferences are typically held during the school day or at 3:00 pm and
must be scheduled in advance. To arrange for a conference regarding a specific course or teacher, please contact
the teacher directly via email. Otherwise, please contact your child’s school counselor.
The counseling assignments for UCTECH are as follows:
Jennifer Di Biase
Cristina Frank
Megan Schneider
UCTECH Grades 11-12 (A-L)
UCTECH Grades 11-12 (M-Z)
UCTECH Grade 9-10
School delays, cancellations, early dismissals – Occasionally our schools may need to dismiss early,
delay opening or cancel school due to weather related issues. Parents will be notified through Honeywell’s Instant
Alert System and information will be posted on our school’s websites and on local news stations.
