Volunteers abound in our parish!
This is the me of the year that I oen think of the many, many volunteers that it takes for our parish to
exist. In the Chrisan Formaon department alone, we survive with the help of over 100 volunteers. That’s
without taking the me to count, but thinking about the fact that we had 7 volunteers join us for Catholic
Heart Work Camp, 22 volunteers for Ma*hew 25 Work Camp, 65 volunteers for Vacaon Bible School and ϮϴǀŽůƵŶƚĞĞƌƐŝŶƚŚĞĐůĂƐƐƌŽŽŵƐĨŽƌŽƵƌ'ƌŽǁŝŶŐ&ĂŝƚŚĐůĂƐƐĞƐƚŚŝƐLJĞĂƌǁĞĂƌĞĂůƌĞĂĚLJŽǀĞƌϭϬϬǀŽůƵŶƚĞĞƌƐ͘
If I would take the me further to break down those numbers I would also see that many of those volunteers
ĂƌĞƉĂƌƚŽĨŵŽƌĞƚŚĂŶϭŽĨƚŚŽƐĞŵŝŶŝƐƚƌŝĞƐĂŶĚƐŽŵĞǀŽůƵŶƚĞĞƌƐĂƌĞƉĂƌƚŽĨĂůůϰ͊dŚĂƚĂůƐŽƚĂŬĞƐ
into consideraon that those 4 ministries are just a part of our department. We sll have ŵĂŶLJŽƚŚĞƌĞǀĞŶƚƐƚŚĂƚŐŽŽŶŝŶŽƵƌĚĞƉĂƌƚŵĞŶƚĂůůLJĞĂƌůŽŶŐ͕ƚŽŽ͘
tŚĂƚ͛ƐĞǀĞŶŵŽƌĞŵŝŶĚďůŽǁŝŶŐŝƐƚŚĂƚƚŚŽƐĞŶƵŵďĞƌƐĂƌĞũƵƐƚŽŶĞĚĞƉĂƌƚŵĞŶƚŝŶŽƵƌƉĂƌŝƐŚ͘dŚŝƐŐŽĞƐ
on all over our parish in every department. I’ve seen a few different stascs over the years, depending on what study and what book I am reading at the me, that say that about 20% of parish members do all ŽĨƚŚĞǀŽůƵŶƚĞĞƌŝŶŐŝŶĂƚLJƉŝĐĂůƉĂƌŝƐŚ͘/ĂŵƉƌŽƵĚŽĨŽƵƌƉĂƌŝƐŚŽĨ'ŽŽĚ^ŚĞƉŚĞƌĚďĞĐĂƵƐĞŽƵƌ
percentage is much higher than that. Last me I crunched the numbers, ǁĞǁĞƌĞĂƚůĞĂƐƚĚŽƵďůĞƚŚĂƚƉĞƌĐĞŶƚĂŐĞĂƚ'ŽŽĚ^ŚĞƉŚĞƌĚ͊
In August, I held a wrap up meeng and thank you dinner for our volunteers from our Ma*hew 25 and
CHWC mission trips. During these meengs we talked about what went well and what we might want to
ĐŚĂŶŐĞŝŶƚŚĞĨƵƚƵƌĞ͘dŚĞŽŶĞƚŚŝŶŐ/ƐĂŝĚŽǀĞƌĂŶĚŽǀĞƌƚŽƚŚŽƐĞǀŽůƵŶƚĞĞƌƐǁĂƐƚŚĂŶŬLJŽƵ͘dŚĞŝƌƌĞƐƉŽŶƐĞ
;ďĞĐĂƵƐĞƚŚĞLJĂƌĞŚƵŵďůĞĂŶĚŐŝǀŝŶŐƉĞŽƉůĞͿǁĂƐƚŚĂƚƚŚĞLJƐŚŽƵůĚďĞƚŚĂŶŬŝŶŐŵĞ͘EŽƉĞ͕ƐŽƌƌLJ͕ƚŚĂƚ͛ƐŶŽƚ
