A NEWSLETTER FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF ORANGE BEACH
“I commend those of you who have volunteered, given and supported the many events and activities which benefit
this year’s Relay For Life. Raising $10,433 is a remarkable accomplishment for a group our size and these efforts
continue to show people what Orange Beach and our employees are made of. Great Job! See you at Relay on Friday night at the Sportsplex.”

City of Orange Beach Relay For Life Team raises $10K+
Setting new goals is a necessity in life and the bar was set high for Team OB which raised a Team Total
of $10,433 for this years Relay For Life to benefit the American Cancer Society. Major fundraisers included the Don Brewer Golf Classic, Dollar Drive for City Employees, Community Yard Sale and more.
Team Captain Jeanne Fitzgibbons and crew worked diligently since late Fall in planning and conducting
fund raisers. Orange Beach has hosted the Relay event for several years now, and with each year, the
OB Team has stepped up the fundraising. The Don Brewer Classic netted $3,850 for the cause with
close to 100 golfers playing. A fun day was had by all
at Soldiers Creek. The Dollar Drive brought lots of
great prizes to many who donated $1 per payperiod
(or more) and the Grand Prize Winner was Angela
Williams, Recreation Center. Join all teams and supports in the fight against cancer this Friday night as
opening ceremonies are set to begin at
6:30pm with first lap at 7pm.
Stop by the OB SportsPlex
and bring the family. This is a
great family fun event.

Whether taking out the trash or just getting ready to dispose of an old device. . . Stop, think about recycling.
The City of Orange Beach is currently taking online information about residents opinions on recycling in the
city. Feedback has been positive but higher numbers of respondents always helps the decision making
process. Go online to www.cityoforangebeach.com and complete the recycling survey today.
An Ecycling Day is set for Friday, May 12 at City Hall. Gather up any electronic device, computer equipments, cell phone, pager, radios, etc. that can be dropped off at City Hall in the lobby all day. Donated items
will be distributed to appropriate agencies for future use and recycling. Cell phones and such are great for
various shelters in our area that can use them as emergency phones for those in need of such device.
Coastal Wine Tour is set for May 19-21 at Waterfront Park in Orange Beach. The City of Orange Beach is a major sponsor of the event. Find out more at www.coastalwinetour.com
