ith the International Association of Deposit
Insurers and on behalf of the Philippine Deposit
Insurance Corporation (PDIC), it is with great
pleasure that I invite you to the International Workshop
on Deposit Insurance Fund (DIF) Target Size to be
hosted by PDIC on June 15-18, 2015 at the Shangri-La
Hotel in Makati City, Philippines.
The Workshop aims to present the results of the survey
on the Target Fund Size and provide an effective
venue to discuss and exchange views, issues, and
country experiences related to the subject. We expect
around 60 participants to the Workshop mainly from
the IADI membership and multilateral institutions.
The Workshop is divided into 3 Sessions. Session 1
features ‘’Setting the Target Fund Size’’ and will present
country cases of selected Deposit Insurance Agencies (DIAs). Session 2 covers the
Administration of Target Fund Size where there will be similar country presentations
of a number of DIAs including a research on proposed model for administration of
target fund. Session 3 highlights other issues related to establishing a target fund
size where invited speakers will cover the following topics: Funding for Failure during
Systemic Crises, Enhanced Guidance on Funding, and Target Fund Size under an
Integrated Protection Scheme. Please refer to the tentative Workshop Agenda for
your information.
In the afternoon of June 17, 2015, PDIC will host the meeting of the IADI SubCommittee on DIF Target Ratio, while on June 18, 2015, there will be a City Tour
(Optional) where you will have an enriching experience about Philippine culture, arts
and history.
We have lined up an interesting four-day Program which will enable you to learn,
liaise, network, and experience the rich and unique culture of our country and the
hospitality of the Filipino people.

Presidential Museum and Library
Kalayaan Hall, Malacañang
Originally built in 1921, the Presidential Museum
and Library is located in the Kalayaan Hall of
the Presidential Palace, the official seat of the
President of the Philippines in historic Manila.
Visitors will be given a peek into the rich history
of the Palace and the legacies of the past
Presidents of the country in interesting panels
and tapestries laid out in the exhibition halls of
the Palace. Visitors will appreciate Philippine
history told in a different light like in the
interesting mementoes of the past Philippine
Presidents, different world personalities they
have met and who visited the Palace, and
what these leaders have done that changed
the course of history.

La Cocina de Tita Moning
San Miguel, Manila
La Cocina de Tita Moning is an elegant turn of
the century residential mansion located across
Gate 6 of the Malacañang Palace . It is the
private residence and ancestral home of the
Legarda family in the San Miguel District of Old
Manila.
A visit to the mansion affords visitors an
interesting and learning experience about
how life was in Old Manila during the 1920s.
Visitors will have a walking tour of the rooms
in the mansion, be acquainted with how life
was during that era as told in the paintings and
photos displayed at the mansion. The visit to
the Mansion will also prove to be a delightful
gastronomic experience as visitors will be
served lunch of heirloom Spanish-FilipinoEuropean recipes of the family chef using fine
china and silverware from the era.

Climate
There are two seasons in the country,
the wet season and the dry season,
based upon the amount of rainfall.
This is dependent as well on your
location in the country as some areas
experience rain all throughout the
year. Based on temperature, the seven
warmest months of the year are from
March to October; the winter monsoon
brings cooler air from November to
February. May is the warmest month,
and January, the coolest. In June,
there may be occasional showers and

Ninoy Aquino International Airport and
Airport Terminals in Manila
The Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 was completed in 1981 to accommodate
the country’s growing international passenger traffic levels during the 1970s.
Designed by Leandro Locsin, a National Artist of the Philippines for Architecture, it breached
its 4.5 million annual passenger capacity in 1991. Improvements to the airport increased its
capacity to 6 million passengers yearly.
