Simon Peter decided to return to his old way of life, and told his friends that he was going fishing, and the others agreed to join him. The Gospel tells us that they fished all night without catching anything. At dawn, a man on the shore called out to the disciples and instructed them to cast their nets over the right side of the boat, and when they did, they caught an abundance of fish. At that moment, they realized that the man on the shore was the resurrected Lord. It became very clear to the disciples that without the Lord, they could do nothing. Once on the shore, Jesus gave Peter the opportunity to profess his unfailing love for him. Peter could never go back to his old way of life. He could no longer earn his living as a fisherman. Instead, Jesus commissioned his to be the shepherd of his flock with the words, “Feed my sheep.” And Peter and the other Apostles went forth to gather all people into one fold. This Gospel story teaches us that once we experience the risen Christ in our lives, we are invited to a new way of life free from the chains of sin and selfishness. We are called to be merciful, generous, charitable, and faithful. May we always proclaim Christ’s resurrection in word and deed. God’s Blessings, Fr. Que Dios los bendiga, Padre Jim Schuerman SIDE BY SIDE SIMPLE DINNER FUNDRAISER CATHOLIC DAUGHTER NEWS The next Side by Side Simple dinner fundraiser will be held on Friday, April 29, with seatings at 5, 6, and 7 p.m. NEW MENU! PARISH LIBRARY NEWS Check out these NEW additions to our parish library: The Ear of the Heart-An Actress’ Journey From Hollywood to Holy Vows-Dolores Hart stunned Hollywood in 1963, when after ten highly successful feature films, she chose to enter a contemplative monastery. Now, fifty years later, Mother Dolores gives this fascinating account of her life, with co-author and life-long friend, Richard DeNeut. Dolores was a bright and beautiful college student when she made her film debut with Elvis Presley in Paramount's 1957 Loving You. Born Dolores Hicks to a complicated and colorful Chicago family, Mother Dolores has travelled a charmed yet challenging road in her journey toward God, serenity and, yes, love. She entered the Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem, Connecticut, at the peak of her career, not in order to leave the glamorous world of acting she had dreamed of since childhood, but in order to answer a mysterious call she heard with the “ear of the heart”. While contracted for another film and engaged to be married, she abandoned everything to become a bride of Christ. A 40-Day Spiritual Workout for Catholics-Are you ready to get your faith in shape? FRANCIS DE SALES A great big THANK YOU to those who made it possible to offer free copies of The Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic to both our English speaking and Spanish speaking family this Lent. If you see any of these Parish family members please thank them for their generosity: Dr. Gerald Fleer, Dr. Nestor and Bien Alabarca, Greg and Jean Dexter, Irene and Budd Humphrey, Joe and Roselyn Lanzito, Dr. Mark and Ann Pienkos and say a prayer of Thanksgiving for: the Weis family who donated in Memory of Grace Weis, Anonymous in the Spirit of Faith, Hope and Love and several other anonymous donors. Because of their generosity and the participation of 40-50 parish family members we had 3 English and one Spanish discussion groups which have sparked the interest of those participating to learn more about their Catholic faith and become more involved in our St. Francis de Sales parish family life and ministries. As many of you may know we have a very active and growing Bible Study on Wednesday mornings which starts at 10 a.m.. The current study will be ending before the end of the school year. For more information please call the Parish office at (262) 248-8524. Plans are being made to offer more studies and programs, though the cost of the books may not be underwritten but we are looking at various programs to deepen our knowledge and understanding of our faith and will make them as affordable as possible for any and all who wish to participate. A big THANK YOU again to all who donated to make the program possible and to all who participated either directly in the discussion groups or by reading the book at home.
